Friendly reception by Cindy. Everything delicious. Be prepared for temptation when you enter! We live on the island so we have to be careful!

“looks better than it tastes”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014

I am an accomplished baker. This bakery is not as good as home made. The reviews were so good that I had high expectations. The key like pie was run of the mill. i think it was the same recipe that every one else uses. But the price was very high. Two of my family members had cupcakes which were moist if not extremely flavorful. They enjoyed them. I had gluten free key lime pie. It was poor. It had whipped topping not whipped cream. Yuck. I had to drizzle lime juice on it so it would taste like lime! The crust was gooey. I wish she had made i crustless. I could only eat half. We will not return.

I'm sorry you did not enjoy your desserts. You're the first negative response we've received since we opened almost 2 years ago. Our Key Lime Pie was even mentioned in the Wall Street Journal Travel section recently. We strive for perfection in everything we make.

“Indulgence Can Be Sweet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

While lingering along the shoreline of a Longboat Key restaurant, the evening ended with trying a dessert, coconut layer cake, recommended by our waitress. It was delectable and we were given the name of it's originator: Hometown Desserts, 507B Pine Avenue, Anna Maria, Fl. The tiny establishment just happened to be right in the area that we were taking in several deep breaths of salt air during a respite and we didn't even know it! We visited, made a few selections to top off another evening and our choices were masterful. The proprietors are gifted in their culinary expertise, pleasant to speak with a truly just one more feather in the cap of this beautiful village.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

We decided to stay with a local artist for our wedding cake. Even if the place seemed small, we felt confident about it and we went to try some cake tastes. Lemon, Orange, Vanilla, Key Lime, Chocolate, Strawberry,... everything was soooooo good! Our wedding cake had two tears, the bigger one on the bottom was chocolate, the smaller one on top was Key Lime. We loved it, we really liked Cindy and her little magic corner. The communication was perfect and the cake was right there when we arrived at the restaurant. Even if we had a particular request for the cake, we asked for white/pink cherry blossoms climbing around the cake, she nailed it perfectly and the final result was that amazing that the flowers looked real! Great job Cindy!

“Gotta go!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2014

Let's see. She bakes works of art for weddings, has a small and wonderful selection of amazing cupcakes AND she offers gluten-free cupcakes and Key Lime Pie slices among other things. Need I say more? No indoor dining. This is basically her kitchen with a teeny shop in the front, but it's a must go. Grab coffee at Relish and head to Hometown for your cupcake.
