“Beautiful B&B”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2014

We stayed at the Coombs House in Apalachiola, FL and had a wonderful time. Our room was very attractive and on the ground floor of the Coombs House. The breakfast was good and the staff very accomodating and friendly. Our only problems were that the bed (which was an antique) squeaked very loudly whenever one of us moved and the french doors which were the entrance to the room were covered with curtains and let in a lot of light from the foyer. At night, the lights in the foyer lit up the room which made it hard to sleep. Also, the ensuite bath was tiny. The staff works hard at maintaining a beautiful place but these things made our stay less than perfect.

Apalachicola remains the same, quiet friendly town that I remember from my childhood. Coombs Inn is located within walking distance to town square and the accommodations are beautiful. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome like we were old friends. Can't wait to go visit again.

My husband and I were impressed when we drove up to the Coombs House. It is picture perfect for a bed and breakfast. The lady who greeted us was professional and friendly, from there I will have to say things went down hill. The room we were given was not exceptional in any way. The sheets on the bed were very rough, as though they had been washed many times and the material was in little nubs. The sheets were very carelessly put on the bed, I smoothed it before we used it the first night.
The first day hot breakfast offered was one biscuit with gravy and a small bowl of cold fruit. Tasty but not what we expected. The second morning, was 2 small sausage links and one slice of french toast, we could not eat because it was so gummy.
When we asked for room service, which we were told we would have after the first night, we found our room service to be a plastic bag with clean towels dropped at our door with the service please sign still hanging on the door.
This was not what we expected from a bed and breakfast. It certainly did not stand up to the standards we have experienced in the past. I heard some of the staff say they were short handed. It certainly showed up in our visit. Hopefully they will come to full staff and they will be able to give the service and food they probably have had in the past.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway I wore ear plugs to block the noise,.

My older brother and I decided on a weekend getaway. We stayed in the Raney Room. It was terrific. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you Janny and Estelle. We felt at home right away. We loved the wine and cheese from 6 to 7 and socializing with the other guests and the breakfasts were very good too. good coffee. The room was very charming and comfortable. This place exudes charm. the location was perfect. Easy walking distance to really good restaurants, interesting shops, fascinating Nautical museum, 3 nice old churches and an interesting grave yard dating from the early 1800s.

Room Tip: The room we stayed in, the Raney, had 2 very comfortable double beds. Very quiet.

Very charming, old house that I fell in love with immediately. The staff were very attentive and the Inn was well equipped with information for newcomers to the area and gave great suggestions for local restaurants, and the Inn is a short walk from all the action.
We had a small issue with our bathroom not being cleaned which we noticed upon check-in. They apologized immediately and said they were training many new staff in preparation for the new tourist season, and they immediately took care of the issue.
We were also pleased to see the breakfast was not just a continental breakfast but an actual hot breakfast dish with fresh fruit also.
We would be happy to stay again!

Room Tip: For a quieter stay, I recommend staying on the second floor. It is an old house, after all, so the f...

We have stayed at Coombs in 4 or 5 times and they have never failed to meet our expectations. Nice comfortable rooms, great staff.the Inn was full the weekend of our stay but the staff managed to get breakfast served quickly. Perhaps the breakfast was a bit sparse on Saturday.

We celebrated our 26 anniversary by staying at the Coombs House Inn and enjoyed it very much. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about things to see and do and even offered to make us dinner reservations. Our room was clean, the food was great and the cookies were delicious. If you want a nice get away you should consider the Coombs House Inn and Apalachicola!
