This is a lovely complex of several different buildings. We were in the easterly most Victorian House in a charming upstairs room. Unfortunately, we had no Internet signal and we couldn't get the in-room coffee maker to work. So, we had to ho to the main house for Internet and coffee. Next time we would request accommodations in the main house.

The staff were very friendly and made great suggestions for activities and meals. Breakfast was excellent with both hot and cold choices. Definitely a wonderful alternative to a hotel or motel!

Room Tip: Request accommodations in the main house where breakfast is served.

Room excellent. We got a upgrade in room because a guest in the second house (where we were booked upstairs above us had a yapping dog) and we weren't putting up with that. I like being able to have pet friendly as long as the pets are NOISE friendly!

Lucky they had rooms at original house and moved us no questions asked.

Great staff. Excellent breakfast. Ideal location.

Room Tip: Original house the best.

I'll start with saying the main house of this complex is amazing. I used to do historic preservation for a living, and the house is a masterpiece in woodworking, I wandered around just looking, soaking up the details.

Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly, breakfast wasn't fancy, but was tasty. We were put in one of the suites just south of the main house, across from cemetery. Hwoever - US98 is about 20 feet from the front doors of these two suites.

Which is the first of two problems - US98 is the main thoroughfare through this part of Florida, and every log truck, busted muffler pickup, bass booming kid's car, and Harley goes right past your door all hours of the day. It is NOISY. Did I say NOISY? Sorry if I said it too loudly, I can't hear you ... because it's NOISY!

The second problem was one of the room amenities - the whirlpool garden tub. DO NOT SPRING EXTRA FOR A ROOM WITH THE BIG TUB. Why? Because the hot water pressure is so low, you will die of old age before you get enough hot water in the tub to drown in. My wife was looking forward to using it, but it was a complete bust.

So, can you have a good stay at Coombs House? Yes! BUT... read the reviews here, because the room you get will determine if your stay was a nice romantic one, or just someplace to stay.

This B&B has it all! Extra comfortable bed, jacuzzi bath, close to everything location, bikes, wonderful breakfast, and exceptional staff. You are within walking distance to most local eateries and shops. The town of Apalachicola is so charming and if you are interested in the non-cookie cutter type town then you should definitely visit here. Beautiful riverfront and beaches too!

Room Tip: There is a room at this Inn that was Mr. Nathan Coombs room. It is alleged that he comes to visit h...
