“Another Fantastic Relaxing Stay!!!a lovely beautiful”
Reviewed 11 May 2012

On our way from Miami baack to the Blue Ridge Mountains, we try to stop at the Apalachicola River Inn. This time we had a queen room with a lovely wicker setee and rocking chair. This room was really wonderful and cozy. We had our two Mini daschunds with us and they just loved it too. It was wonderful to sit in our room or outside with our pups and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. What a lovely way to spend some time. The outside gazebo of Carolines restaurant was expecially nice since we could take the dogs.Everything was great the only suggestion is to add 2 luggag racks and perhaps another lamp to the rooms. Keep up the good work we'll be back!!!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have private patios. Frst floor rooms have open walkway patios but they are not...

We stayed a the Apalachicola River Inn during the last week of March, 2012. We have room 15, which is on the second floor just a little to the left of the restaurant (Caroline's). Although the restaurant closes about 10:00, I would suggest a room with a higher number (i.e., further from the restaurant) to have a slightly better view of the bay; although the view is spectacular from any room. The second story rooms have private balconies that have screens, which obstruct the view somewhat, but probably needed to keep off the birds.

The room comes with a $20 discount if you get a coupon from TripAdviser. It also comes with a complementary drink at the bar every night and a great free breakfast. The breakfast is not a couple rolls and coffee either. My favorite was the crap cakes benedict. That should give you an idea of the fare.

The only things holding back from five stars are a couple of small annoyances. First, no free Wi-Fi. Come on people. Let's get into the 21st century. This might be because the TV doesn't appear to have cable (hence no wi-fi, maybe). Finally, the hotel comes with a limited liquor store, which is 30% higher than prices here in Ohio. So, BYO.

I would definitely go back. Very comfortable. A bit pricey, but the breakfast and free drink offset that.

Room Tip: We liked the second floor because of the privacy (each room has a private balcony), and I'd ask...

This inn is just delightful. My ranking is for Apilachicola, you can't compare it with or expect the Ritz here. The rooms on the second floor are wonderful, with one of the most pristine views you could hope for from a a wonderful screened in porch. Its lovely to watch the shrimp boats go by. The room we stayed in seemed to be recently re-done, with fresh paint, tasteful "old florida" furnishings, a nice bathroom and comfortable beds with good linens. The bar in the hotel is quaint and Boss Oyster is simply amazing...Coastal Living voted it top 5 oysters in US. We did not have any noise problems as it was a Sunday but I have been there on Saturday evenings when there was quite a crowd between the lounge and boss oyster. I think the price was also very reasonable....can't wait to return

Room Tip: get a second floor room for the view of the river

We stayed at the River Inn one night in Feb. It is a cool, funky motel-type facility but the rooms are nice and clean and we had a screed balcony overlooking the river. Carolyn's Restaurant was very good for dinner; the Oysters Rockafeller are good.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have private balconies, but you do have to climb stairs.

Really had a nice time here. We had great weather and there is so much to do in the area. The room is a little pricey but the gorgeous view, 2 drink tickets, and 2 breakfast tickets each day certainly made it worth it to us. The small 2nd floor screened balcony was a great place to sit and have a drink in the afternoon or just to watch the sunrise in the morning. A coffee maker or mini-fridge would've upped my rating of this hotel.
I hate to bring up food in the hotel section but it was included in room price. Crab cakes benedict, lemony pancakes, oyster omelet, and more! --man, it was outstanding! Talked to the chef one evening and he shared a couple of tips.
Mark, Jen, Angela, and lots of other great people who worked there mad for an extra nice stay.

Room Tip: Go for the 2nd floor room with a view.

We were on a roadtrip through Florida and needed a room in Apalachicola. It was a delightful surprise to find the River Inn. Our large, clean room had a screened-in private porch facing the river. The kind-size bed had nice linens, and the bathroom had been recently updated. It would have been perfect if a mini frig had been included. The best part of the deal was the complimentary full breakfast the next morning at Caroline's. Not just your basic breakfast...you ordered off a special menu of delights. I had the oyster omelet with fresh-squeezed orange juice. My husband had the shrimp and grits with eggs. Both came with home fries and toast. What a treat! We also received two complimentary cocktails (well brand), but the lady barkeep was surly.

Room Tip: Check out the variety of rooms available.

This a fabulous jewel in Apalachicola, Florida. The lady who checked us in was pleasant and very helpful. We were given 2 free cocktail tickets and 2 free breakfast tickets for the attached lounge and restaurant. Our room was spacious, VERY CLEAN, and comfortable. All rooms at this Inn have waterfront views and we enjoyed sitting on our balcony and looking out over the beautiful water scenery. The lounge was the perfect place to have a cocktail and visit with the friend locals.
All n All our experience was perfect at this inn and we will recommend it to our friends.
