This was our second stay, and it was just as lovely as the first.

The king suite is nicely laid out. The bed is comfortable, and the screened in veranda is lovely.

Although the kitchen is a bit sparsely furnished, it is nice to have coffee and a refrigerator.

The staff is friendly and attentive.

Sorry for delaying this review, as we actually stayed here for a long weekend in November '11. It was without a doubt one of the best places we've stayed. It is off the beaten path, no real glitz or glamor anywhere near, but for us it was great. The location by the water, screened porches, oyster houses within walking distance, everything was great. Really laid back community, wouldn't be great for everybody, but for those of us who get it, it can't be beat. We will definitely return.

this hotel was/is a condo project now operating under a hotel model so the rooms are large, the kitchen area has full size stove and frig., 2 baths, master bedroom, studio couch bedroom, screened balcony, big TV in sitting room, tv in master bedroom (multiple channels) and wireless. because there is no restaurant/breakfast area housekeeping puts a continental breakfast into the frig. daily and coffee is provided - you make. if you want tea ask at front desk.
service is excellent and leigh on front desk is cheerful, helpful, knows the area well. as does "captain" joan, also on front desk. great pair!
apalachicola is great fun for a couple of days with a couple of excellent and a few good restaurants, lots of history and this is definitely the place to stay..a little pricey, but well worth it.
hint...bring a "laundry bag" they don't supply one (for longer stays there is a washer/dryer in your room). happy trails!

Room Tip: the top floor facing sipico creek gives the best views

My wife and I rented a room at the Water Street Hotel & Marina for one night (February 12, 2012) for our first trip to Apalachicola. The facility was beautiful and the staff were excellent. We arrived early on Sunday and asked if the room was available. The lady at the desk said no but she would call me when the room was ready. Sure enough, my cell phone rang about an hour later and the lady told me our room was ready; now that's great service. Later that night, we spoke with another lady who was extremely hospitable and gave us some information about the area. Our room was very clean and well equipped (two TVs, DVD player, full kitchen, washer/dryer) but the best part was the view from the private screened balcony. We watched a breathtaking sunrise Monday morning from the screened balcony. Even our bedroom window had a great view of the Orman House Historic State Park across the street. The bed was soft and gave us a great night's sleep. The Water Street hotel is so quiet and peaceful...it's like getting away from it all. You can have the spectacular view of the river and first class accomodations from the Water Street Hotel for around $10 more than the other hotels in town charge. I'm sure the Water Street Hotel & Marina is the best place to stay in Apalachicola; I know we will be back.

Room Tip: I would recommend asking for a room on the second or third floor. I would think the first floor wou...

We made last minute plans to visit The Florida Panhandle after Christmas. My husband always raved about Apalachicola oysters, so we decided to stay there and explore the area. We were lucky enough to find this hotel (actually more like condos) online. It was Clean, Comfortable and Convenient. Nice, private screened porch overlooking the river... Perfect spot to enjoy our morning coffee. An easy walk to shops and restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff (Nedra is their "secret weapon"!) Stop in the lobby for a complimentary glass of wine. It was so nice to have this roomy place to retire at the end of each day of adventures along the beautiful beaches and parks.

Ventured into town with no reservations on a "drive and explore" getaway week. Loved what we saw of the downtown section so we checked out several of the B &B's when we were directed to Water Street Hotel. Really loved the suite - more like 2 br apartment! Great views off of the screened-in porch over the marina and bay. The shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance. We will be back.
