Water Street Hotel & Marina
Ranked #3 of 5 Hotels in Apalachicola
Reviewed 13 March 2013

If you are a boating person this little hotel in Apalachicola is perfect place to dock and spend the night. Walking distance to restaurants, oyster bars, stores. Views of the river and St George are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious with full kitchens and balconies. There is a pool onsite, plenty of parking and we were able to bring our dogs!! We will be back!

Room Tip: Top floor on the western corner is the way to go for sunset!

We've stayed at the Water Street twice and recommend it as one of the best places on the Gulf!! The rooms are clean and the view is beautiful! Also, if you need a pet friendly place to stay this is spot.

We stayed here a couple years ago and now we are going back! Was able to get the last suite available for a gathering of folks interested in keeping our rivers safe. Love this town. Loved the views from the balcony of our suite. Was able to take beautiful photographs of river scenes and sun rises.

We stayed here for two nights in February 2013 based upon the trip advisor reviews. This is a small 'town', with not a lot of hotel options. Reviews for some of the older properties on Trip Advisor were "mixed", so we went with this one which had good reviews .... We were not dissapointed.

There are differant sizes and configurations of rooms in this 3 story property. Ours was at the far end on the 2nd floor and it was larger than we expected it to be. We had a very large liviing / kitchen room with doors that opened out onto a large screened in balcony. Our bedroom was seperate and was good size with king poster bed with doors that opened out onto the same balcony. The 2nd bedroom was small with bunk beds, but it did have a seperate / 2nd bathroom.

The hotel is located at the end of a street that runs parallel with a canal. There are some "beat up" buildings next to it, but the hotel itself is very new looking. I think it was built just a few years ago. The backside of the hotel, where the pool is located, is next to a quiet marshy looking area.

Parking is adequate - with a small lot directly adjoining the property, and a 2nd lot about 100 feet away - we had no trouble finding parking spaces.

If you have lots of luggage they do have luggage carts, but you have to walk the cart up a long ramp from ground level near the pool to get the cart and bags up to the 2nd floor - there is not direct access to the elevator from the ground level.

On the Canal side of the hotel they have a boat dock, and there were a number of large boats docked there during our stay. This made for a picturesque view from our screened in balcony. In addiition to the dock and canal, you can see quite a distance away to a water / marsh area that has some limited boat and barge traffic - very quiet and nice looking. I don't think it's possible to get a great "sun set" viewing from the rooms, but early in the morning the sun rise is nice on the canal side.

Overall great place to stay - highly recomended.

Driving the Gulf coast, we were looking for out-of the-way towns. Apalachicola fits the bills. This hotel/condo is in an historic fishing village. The Water Street Hotel is next to restaurants and fishing boats. Check-in was easy and cordial. There is an elevator to the second floor and luggage carts if you over-pack like I do.
The 1.5 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment was spacious and well-appointed. 1.5 bedroom means a twin cot fits in the room. The bathrooms had high-end fixtures and toiletries. The kitchen was large and had plenty to cook a meal. There was even starter food in the fridge: fruit cups, muffins, yogurt, and bottled water, so you don't have to race out to the store the first day. Coffee, cream, and sweeteners were also by the coffee pot. The bed was comfortable, free wi-fi, and a washer/dryer (bring/buy your own suds).
There is a large screened porch with fans and furniture. You are away from the white sandy Gulf here, but you can find the beaches in nearby St. George Island. I thought the price was slightly high for a self-cater and the location, but I would stay here again. Definitely recommended.

The Water Street Hotel is in all aspects a truly outstanding hotel in a quaint, interesting town. My wife and I spent two nights there. The suites are large, extremely well designed and equiped. With large, private screened porches, it is a delight to look over a creek, a river and marshes and enjoy silence. The staff are among the most friendly and helpful we have experienced. Evelyn at checkin and Nedra later that day were outstanding. There are at least six excellent restaurants nearby, and the oysters are sublime. We look forward to a return.

Room Tip: We enjoyed suite 306 on the top floor.

We had a wonderful 50 birthday party at the Water Street hotel. There was a total of 16 of us. We had a good selection of different rooms. All were very nicely designed and completely furnished with a full kitchen. Nedra Jackson checked us all in and made sure that we had everything that we needed for our stay. Fun was had by all!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: 308 Top floor great view and lots of space!!
