Picnic tables , a natural spring to swim in and a swallow but crystl river to float down make for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Kelly Park is a gorgeous park. There aren't many places you can tube from the spring head down a lazy, cool river. What ruins Kelly Park for me are the people that visit this park. Let's just say the clientele is a certain kind of person.

Here is a sampling of the people who frequent the park:
Teenagers hanging all over each other
Lots of people screaming and generally being obnoxious
Overweight folks wearing stuff they shouldn't
Girls dressed like hoochies
Dudes in banana hammocks
Mobs of unsupervised, unruly children with no parents in sight
Smokers who like to yell profanities randomly

I don't consider myself a prude and like to have a good time like anyone else but not at the expense of everyone around me! I'm not judging these people but their behavior kind of ruins it for the rest of us. Kelly Park would be great (and get 5 stars!) without all the people!

The good: It's inexpensive, so if you have a lot of people and a limited budget check this place out. They have shaded picnic tables, pavilions, and playgrounds. There is a concession stand selling hot food and nearby restrooms. A sandy beach and swimming area for the little ones. Lots of small shells, rocks, fossils and shark teeth to be found in the river.

We actually camped overnight here and did the tubing thing the next day. There are about 25 sites, all but 2 have electric. We were far enough from our neighbors where we had some privacy but you could easily see 3-4 other sites from our site. Our camping site was about a 15 minute walk from the spring. We readily saw deer, turkey and raccoons while there. They even have a small bear roaming the park! There are several marked hiking trails, none of which are very long.

I would say if you want to get a good laugh and people watch go (early) on a weekend during peak season. If you want to relax without all the drama try to go on a weekday when the kids are in school.

Love kelly park! For $5 for the whole car and less than an hours drive from orlando you can't go wrong even if you just go for a couple of hours! It's a great way to have a break from the 'touristy' orlando and the parks! Also great if you like wildlife...I've been twice now and seen a handful of wildlife including turtles and deer coming to the river for water. Such a peaceful place! Make sure you take water shoes, your own rings and a picnic!

Debated about going today with our 10 & 13 year old grandchildren. The weather was overcast with chance of rain and the temp was only 68. But we went, it's Spring Break. We had so much fun and stayed in the 68 degree water the entire time going back and forth in the springs, even walking back against the current. The cost was $5.00 for the 4 of us, we stayed about 3 hours. This is a place I have wonderful memories from my childhood growing up in Central Florida. Now owned by the State it is well kept and able to me enjoyed in this very natural setting. When leaving the kids asked when we would be returning.

The park is absolutely beautiful. The campsites are set up with fire rings and picnic tables are set up on concrete slabs. The springs are amazing, cold but refreshing. The grounds and restrooms are well maintained. Wildlife is abundant. Be sure to bring your own firewood or you will have to pay for it and what you get isn't worth the price. We brought our own tubes so no tube rental was needed but there are plenty of rental places outside the park.
