“Peaceful trip through the real Florida”

Good price canoe rentals to paddle the Wekiwa River. You're pretty much alone in the narrow river, just you and nature.

Don't forget that you have to paddle back upstream to get back!

Highly recommended

“King's Landing great Kayaking/Canoeing from beginning to end!”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

I grew up in Casselberry so the Wekiva River and Rock Springs was a place we played often...as a kid I canoed the Wekiva river once....now living back in Florida after being gone for 33 years (yea!) I am in an exploring mood....so I decided the husband and I would go and explore and Kayak the Wekiva River.... I new of 4 places to put in...and after doing much research chose King's Landing. Mostly for the fact that we could put in there and then 8.5 miles and 4 hours later King's Landing would pick us up and take us back to our vehicle...therefore we seen more of the river with out having to turn back and paddle up stream. We had our own Kayaks so it cost us $20 each to put in and take out...well worth the $$. You can find prices on their website for renting canoes. We put in at King's Landing and Kayaked to Wekiva Island where the place was hopping with people, food, drinks, kids, dogs, and other boaters...this is the point where you are picked up...be sure to be at the pick up point early because they leave promptly at your chosen pick up time. Now, doing my research and reading the reviews on trip advisor for King's Landing I read some reviews that were not favorable....I found their complaint to be totally unfounded...Daniel who manages the place was laid back and easy to get along with...I had no complaints...whatever you do....when you get to Wekiva Island...do not take out your Canoe and take the family and walk to Publix, therefore not being at your pick up site when the van leaves...this is what a family from England did when they missed their ride back to King's Landing...and then complained about Daniel and the Business....You no follow rules,...you pay consequences....Definitely choose to start your Canoe/Kayak trip from Kings Island...you will not be disappointed....start your trip early in the morning and you will see more wildlife...birds, deer, raccoons ect....HAVE FUN!!! It is an awesome paddle!!!!!!! ALSO, IF YOU HAVE NEVER CANOED OR KAYAKED...THIS MAY BE A CHALLENGING RUN FOR YOU....WINDING RIVER...SOME FALLEN TREES TO GO AROUND...I WOULD SAY SOME EXPERIENCE IS A MUST....

“Beautiful trip”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We recently revisited Kings Landing after 30 years and found it unchanged in its pristine beauty. The 8.5 mile run is a long run, so don't plan on getting it done in four or five hours. Get there early as soon as they open and then you can take your time getting down the river. If your short on time the basic canoe rental is a great value and you can paddle up river and then take your time running back down river- maybe a couple of hour trip- and not too tough for most novices. Should you decide you want to take the longer run- remember is a canoe trip- although the river is calm and tranquil, it a long trip down river- so you need to be prepared to spend the day doing it- and discuss how long a normal trip should take with your the owners of kings landing. The owners were gracious, very accommodating and candid about how long the trip takes to get down river. Really a wonderful experience- Florida at its best- hope to be back next year. My wife said it was a perfect day. The river is calm but very wild, and you may have to navigate low bush, low trees, etc. But thats what makes it fun. If your looking no obstacles then take a canoe out on a lake. If your looking for a unique wonderful experience than leave early and take the longer trip. If you only have a few hours than paddle upstream.

“This is the real Florida!”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

We highly recommend this place for a great day of paddling. We launched our own kayak from Kings Landing and they picked us (and our kayak) up downstream and brought us back to our car. The guys were so friendly and helpful. The paddle was absolutely beautiful. We saw deer, gators, and all sorts of birds. This is an ideal trip for nature lovers, or anyone looking for a relaxing change of pace from the typical Orlando area attractions.

“True Florida Experience”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

When we arrived at the departure point, we were greeted by a friendly man who helped us get registered and who then set about getting our canoes and life jackets ready. He told us some of the possible wildlife that we may encounter, and told us what time the shuttles would be waiting at the pick-up point.

It is a leisurely float down the 8 or so mile section, and you barely see any sign of civilization. We went January 12 and the weather was lovely. About the only wildlife we saw was turtles, but it may be due to the time of year.

It was peaceful and serene and definitely something we will do again!

Use the restroom before your leave on the trip, and bring toilet paper if you expect to go before your reach the pick-up point. The entire trip with a half hour break for a packed lunch, took us about 5 hours.
