After an exhaustive online search, I found the Sleep Inn to be the most reasonable "safe" accomodations available. I arrived around 9pm to find no line for check in. The front desk staff were very friendly and the process took only a minute. The rooms are accessed through interior hallways and the doors to outside are guarded with key swipes, for extra security. My room was on the second floor. There is an elevator which was nice. The room was of average size with decent furniture and an oversized shower. The bed was of average comfort, and the television had plenty of channels including HBO. The room heater worked fine and my wake up call arrived promptly at 7:30AM. Before I went to sleep, I did hear some noise coming from the hallway, but it wasn't obnoxious. Just enough to make me get up and make use of my peep hole. The morning continental breakfast consisted of fruit, choice of juices, coffee, cocoa, bagels, toast, and microwave sausage biscuits. Check out was quick. Upon leaving I took note of the area. It is located directly across from a school, in what appears to be a quiet area. There didn't appear to be too many dining options within walking distance, but there are fast food joints on Slappey less than a mile away. I would definitely stay again, due to the safety factor, compared to other cheaper accomodations Albany has to offer. I paid approx 50 dollars via the hotels website.
