Wonderful ambiance, very attentive service, great food! Yes it IS pricey, but worth it, especially for special occasions. We ate there in early November, and Mambo sent a boat to our resort to pick us up and take us back after dinner, along with other diners.

We started with cocktails. The bar staff make great mojitos - not easily found in Belize, either because of a lack of mint (or just sub-par recipes in some cases!) We then had the seafood ceviche and snapper carpaccio. For entrees we split the Deep Blue - a taste of all the seafood - and it was delicious. We rounded it off with the chocolate soufflé and a couple of lattes.

Just a really great evening in beautiful surroundings- well worth the visit. The BEST dinner I have ever had in Belize - been visiting since 2007. Anyone writing a bad review must have either been exceptionally unlucky or strangely picky because this place is simply excellent. We were not staying there and there was no hint of being treated like a 2nd class citizen as some have mentioned. Well worth the boat trip north to Mata Chica.

We stayed just down the beach at La Perla Del Caribe and could walk ten minutes to Matachica and the Mambo Restaurant. During our stay we enjoyed two meals at Mambo, a lunch and a "bar dinner" of appetizers. The property is very nice but it should be noted that this is not a beachside or ocean view restaurant. Service is very friendly regardless if you are a guest or not and the selection of food is excellent. One thing to be aware of, the prices on the menu are in $US and 15% gratuity is included for all checks, regardless of party size. For lunch we enjoyed Calypso Shrimp Fajitas and Blackened Grouper Sandwich. The fajitas were very good even if served with only one tortilla. The sandwich was also very good, but it was grilled, not blackened. With two drinks, the bill came to $US 60.00. Our appetizer dinner at the bar was nice as well. Bartender was very friendly and agreed to serve appetizers from the menu even thought they typically only have a few small items for the bar. We ordered Guacamole with Chips and an order of Lobster Tempura. Both were very good and served promptly in sufficient quantity to make a full meal for two of us. In the end, I would say that Mambo is a good, but not inexpensive, restaurant if you are in the area. I would not go out of my way or make it a destination for dining as there are better choices to be had in San Pedro.

We stopped in for lunch and did not need dinner after getting a giant chicken burrito. It was quite tasty.

The restaurant is awesome, food is fantastic. The cost is a little high but worth the ambiance. If you are looking for the total experience, this is the place. We will go back in November 2014.

We visited Belize the first week of Oct 2013. We stayed a total of 7 nights along the beaches of Ambergris Caye. We ate at Mambos 3 out of the 7 evenings. It was so good we just kept coming back. The curried Island Shrimp was delightful. For people who like less spicier foods, the grouper was wonderful. The chocolate soufflé is a must! The restaurant also provided boat transportation to and from the place we were staying. Highly recommend!!!
