We spent a week at Captain Morgan's Timeshare. It was a great spot and glad we chose it. For those who want to stay in one spot you can defininitley do that here and for those like my group who like to venture off it isn't too hard to do so. We rented a golf cart for the entire week instead of having to rely on the no so reliable water taxi system. It was nice to have the flexibility of the cart to be able to come and go as we pleased but the 3.5 mile dirt road is VERY bad to the resort. If you have a group of 4 get a 4 seat golf cart not one where two have to ride on the back as the ride is VERY difficult back there. I'm 28 and it was pretty crazy even for me. Renting bikes was a nice way to get around though, which you can do right from the resort. The new pool they have is very nice and enjoyable to spend the afternoon, especially with the new swim up bar. Overall, this is a great spot far enough from the hussle and bussle of town to give you the feeling of really being on your own island.

This hotel is best for long vacations but I don't recommend staying here for just a short amount of time. This place is great for groups of friends and families, but I wouldn't recommend it for a honeymoon. The rooms have a small kitchen, living room, and private bedroom and bathroom. There is a grocery store behind the resort that is convenient if you want to cook your own meals.

The food at the restaurant is good but not great. The waiters were OK, but it wasen't a professional service - it was slow and they seemed stressed out. The have good music so it's ok if you want to take your time and enjoy the ocean view wile you eat. I don't recommend eating here if you have any hearing problems - all of the waiters speak softly and the music drounded them out.

The people at the front desk were so nice. We got a welcome drink when we arrived and they brought our bags to our room.

Room Tip: Because this is on an island you should expect the prices to be more expencive than on the mainland. Not recommended for Honeymoons.

Had the most amazing experience first time fishing in Belize. Caught a Spanish snapper which the restaurant cooked three ways at no additional charge. Our tour guide Carlos was fantastic. He has a passion for fishing and knew all the right fishing areas. As a first timer I feel that the guide makes the experience which was amazing.

Hopefully Carlos will be your guide for reef when you visit captain Morgan's.

Room Tip: All rooms are beach front and fabulous

My boyfriend and I spent a week in a timeshare at Captain Morgan's and loved it! The staff was very helpful and friendly- absolutely no complaints. They were helpful with booking our flights to and from Belize City (take the jumper plane- it's SO worth it, don't take the ferry from Belize City). Upon arrival to AC, they gave us- really good- complimentary drinks from Captain Morgan's while we waited for the water taxi. Try the Rum Punch, it's awesome!

It was a very quite resort, not too many children and the majority of the crowd was 50+. Even the guests were super friendly, and by the end of the week we had new friends from all over the US. All the guests we met were American, with the exception of 1 Canadian couple.

Getting to and from town, San Pedro, is very easy on the island's scheduled water taxis, or even better rent bikes or a golf cart from the resort and explore on your own. I'd say the golf cart rental is a must!

There was some construction going during the weekdays (like everywhere else on the island—there is a lot of investing going on) but the resort is fairly large with multiple pools and (swim up) bars, so it was easy to stay clear of it.

The restaurant at the resort was awesome too, we never had a bad meal our whole trip! (TIP: You must try Fry Jacks for breakfast while in Belize ... SO GOOD!) We did not do the all inclusive package because why limit yourself to only eating at the hotel??? We felt very safe (although we weren't out past midnight ever) on the island and highly suggest checking out the local restaurants in San Perdo.

I would definitely stay here again!

After our second day on Ambergris Caye, we decided that we liked the restaurant at Captain Morgan's better than the one at our hotel, Belizean Shores. We ended up eating four meals there. The staff is attentive and the prices are very reasonable. After dinner, you can walk a few steps into the only casino we found on the island. Ask your waiter for a $5.00 promo coupon to get you started. One odd thing is that the menu lists prices in US dollars, but the bill comes in BZ dollars and you get a separate bar tab when you order drinks with dinner. Oh, and don't forget to visit the convenience store on property. They have everything you could need for your trip.
