We stayed at Tranquility Bay Resort for just one night, to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The staff was wonderful, the cabin was spacious, comfortable and well stocked. We were greeted with a welcome rum punch, and given the tour. We had booked a fishing trip for the morning, and our guide Pani made our day! He was wonderful, and we caught more than 10 fish! We snorkeled all afternoon, and then had our catch prepared for us for dinner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to relax. The beach loungers and hammocks are comfortable and plentiful, and the beds were to die for ... soooo comfortable! Thanks Tranquility Bay Resort for making our anniversary extra special! A special thank you to Pani, for the wonderful fishing trip, you are the perfect guide! We will be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Pelican" cabin ... it was right in the middle, and had a perfect view!

We spent a week there, and like others say it is remote and doesn't have the variety of restaurants and nightlife that somewhere like San Pedro has. However, we were very pleased with the quality of food available at the resort--breakfast was included, and we normally would frequent happy hour and then have an early dinner. After the first day we were always greeted by name. Ask for a case of beer & 5 gallon bottle of water to be in your room and they will make it happen.

It was a great place to go for us to spend every day snorkeling without spending time on boats just to get to the reef. It was windy almost every day we were there, so there were no bugs at all for us.

Room Tip: There are only 10 cabanas, so you really cannot get a bad location.

If you need to unplug from the real world, this is the perfect spot for you! Very remote, private, quiet and breathtakingly beautiful...true paradise! We traveled with friends to the island in mid February and everything about it was amazing starting with the 30 minute water taxi ride north to the resort. If you are expecting something fancy smancy, think twice, my friends. It's not that at all. What to expect...an awesome staff offering personal service of the genuine nature, clean and cute cabanas just a few steps away from the gorgeous beach and coral reef and yummy traditional, Belizeian food and rum concoctions!!! Coco mojitos are a must! Because the resort is so small, it doesn't take long to get to know the staff and gives you the opportunity to chat with the other guests, which makes it really fun. Our group of 6 brought lots of snacks and games for our nightly entertainment, if that's your thing and we might advise making a liquor stop in San Pedro before you hop on the water taxi. Just ask the your driver. Our annual winter trips are generally the all inclusive type in Mexico, which we also love (The Royal in Playa being one of our favorite spots) but this was a WONDERFUL change of pace. People have asked which setting we like better but the two can't even be compared. To describe it in a word...PARADISE!!! Now who wouldn't want a little slice of that?!? Oh, and I have to mention the fry jacks! Eat them every chance you get!

It has been one year since we visited Tranquility Bay for our honeymoon, but judging from the most recent reviews, it seems not much has changed... it is still absolute paradise.

The first wonderful thing you will notice on your trip out to Tranquility Bay is how remote it is on the island of Ambergris Caye. But getting there was such a breeze! When we made our reservations with Tranquility, Jeri Sue made all of the local travel arrangements for us. She even booked our flight from Belize City to Ambergris Caye. When we landed at the San Pedro Airstrip, we retrieved our bags and were almost immediately greeted by a local taxi driver who took us to the dock where we would board the boat to Tranquility. It was all of 3 blocks away but, never having been on the island before, it was nice to get a ride. At the dock we met Pani, the resort fisherman and guide, who would become a recurring character in our week at the resort. Our boat captain was extremely friendly and helpful. We were waiting for one other couple to arrive at the dock, so while we waited he walked us over to a corner store (next door to the airstrip - like I said, it was close!) where we could pick up some snacks for the week. It's a 30-40 minute ride into town, so it really was best that we stocked up on that first day. On your boat ride to the resort, you fly past all the hotels and rentals lining Ambergris Caye and watch the distance between them get farther and farther. If this is your first time visiting Belize, one thing to note is that most resorts don't have a beach where you can walk right into the water. They do at TBR! Their white sand beach is incredibly well maintained and you can walk right out into the Caribbean Sea to cool off, or head out on a snorkel adventure through the sea grass or out to the reef. We were greeted at the TBR dock by Katherine, the hotel manager. She was so nice and knew exactly who we were and what room to direct the grounds keepers to take our bags to. We didn't have to lift a finger after stepping off the boat.

Ceasar, the bartender, had a tray of welcome cocktails ready just for us when we arrived. We could sense immediately the comfortable and casual atmosphere of the resort. On the dock is the restaurant/bar where we ate all of our meals. We chose not to go into town at all because the food at TBR was so delicious! The breakfast that is included with your stay is not what we've come to expect in the states. No continental buffet of cold cereal and old fruit salad here! They offer a full breakfast menu, and I highly recommend the Belizean Eggs.
The picture-perfect cabanas are lined up right along the beach, all with double doors that open to your porch and right down to the sand. There is plenty of room for two couples in each one, with A/C units in the bedrooms for comfortable sleeping. Ours had two bathrooms as well. More than we needed, but will be great for return trips with friends! There is also a pull out couch in the living area. I can't speak to how comfortable it is, but with all the windows and fans, I imagine you could stay pretty cool out there.

My husband was finishing his SCUBA certification while we were there, and the TBR Dive Master, Yamin, was THE BEST. So fun, so accommodating, so knowledgeable. He arranged everything with the Dive Instructor from San Pedro (Merv!), and coordinated all of our dives. I'm sure there are plenty of Dive Masters in Belize, but TBR is lucky to have snatched up Yamin for their resort! We hope to see him again there next time!

The hospitality at Tranquility Bay was some of the best I have ever experienced. On our final night at the resort, they set up a beautiful private dinner on the beach to celebrate our honeymoon, and gave us a card with best wishes signed by the entire staff. It was such a sweet and personal gesture. We truly cannot say enough great things about Tranquility Bay. Thank you Katherine and team for the best start to our marriage that we could have asked for. We will see you again soon!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms at Tranquility Bay!

This was the first stop on our honeymoon, and it was an amazing getaway. This hotel is extremely secluded and picturesque. We spent 4 days sitting in hammocks, snorkeling, kayaking out to the reef in order to snorkel, drinking coconut rum, and eating down-home Belizian food. The staff was incredibly friendly but not obsequious--just the right balance. It was *exactly* what we needed.

A few minor things were off. The sinks in our bungalow (number 1) were in major need of some CLR or other heavy-duty cleaning product. The shower had two heads but felt institutional rather than romantic. And the wi-fi was spotty at best. Given the not-so-cheap cost of this resort, management should work on these issues. That said, I'd go back in a heartbeat even if the problems weren't fixed.

Where else can you step right out of your cabana onto a beach, grab your mask and snorkel on the second largest coral reef in the world. Good service, food, atmosphere. Love the staff. Beauty beyond belief. Do know it is remote. Half hour boat ride from anywhere. But if you like to snore or fish, take long walks, chat and relax with buddies. This is heaven.

Room Tip: All are wonderful.

Tranquility Bay Resort was one of four places we stayed while in Belize from March 29th through April 9th. Do not go to this resort unless you want to be totally at peace, relaxed and barefoot. There is no schedule, no clocks, no phones and no televisions. We were in Blue Tang which is house #3. We are so very fortunate that Sharyn from Mariposa Jungle Lodge suggested this wonderful place. I loved being able to walk out of our beautiful accommodations, have the beach chairs literally steps away, walk down the dock and into the bar/restaurant in my bare feet and have the best food ever! Please try the fry jacks with honey. YUM! The staff is friendly and great at what they do. We were sitting in our beach chairs enjoying the morning when on of the staff approached to ask if we like coconut water. He promptly climbed a ladder, cut down about 21 coconuts, came back to our chairs and cut 3 coconuts open and gave them to us with straws so we could enjoy the yummy water. He offered to cut it open when we were done so we could eat the coconut meat. It was so tender. I took mine into the bar and had Cesar add rum. The snorkeling is wonderful with beautiful coral and lots of colorful fish. The best part is that you can go on your own with no time clock, tour guide or restrictions. At night there are lights under the dock at the bar and the sting rays, tarpon and other fish congregate there. It is totally awesome. If there is a paradise, this is definitely it! I could go on and on, but I want you to stop reading and make your reservations. ENJOY!

Room Tip: I am sure all of the spaces are awesome, but #3 is one of the closest to the restaurant and was abso...
