We stayed at Coco in mid July and will return. Stayed in a 1st floor hotel room 10 steps from the pool. Can't say enough about the pools they were cool and clean. Really liked the option of have deep and shallow water. The room was great too! Our favorite restaurant was Capicorn which is a 15 minute walk down the beach. Everything in Belize is very casual, seriously, leave your dress clothes, make-up, and hair products at home! To get to town if you don't rent a cart you have to take a water taxi, which really is not a big deal once you get the schedule and plan with it. My only negative point is the bar prices...I know resorts are usually more expensive but $10 for drinks and $5 for a cup of beer were a little much. But, we followed another trip advisor review and bought alcohol in the Dallas airport at the duty free shop and so glad we did! Also, bought beer at a store in town. There was no problem bringing your own drinks to the pool, just make sure you bring some thermal cups. If you are going to do some diving we recommend Ecologic Divers.

We stayed at the Coco Beach Resort in June 2011.
Pros: The hotel is beautiful and clean. Everything was brand new and working well. Our room had all stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and the bed mattresses were really comfortable. Our room overlooked the pool, but it was quiet and we never heard other guests when we were inside. The air conditioning worked well and kept our room nice and cool. The swimming pool was spectacular. They keep it super clean and the rock structure has a water slide and plenty of places for the kids to jump from it into the pool. The other pool has a swim up bar and a hot tub. That pool terraces down toward the beach. The staff is very friendly and wants to make your stay the best possible.
Cons: There isn't a restaurant on-site yet. You can walk to one of the hotels next door, but the closest one is an unmarked path and we had to walk around construction. Any place within walking distance I thought had very high prices. It typically cost $40 (US prices) for the 3 of us to eat breakfast. That is more than I pay for breakfast in the US. Because there are only a couple of options close by, I felt like we were trapped into paying high prices with not a lot of diversity. Every room has a kitchen, but there isn't any place to buy food or drinks nearby. You have to take the water taxi (speed boat) a few miles into town and then lug it all back to the hotel, all while everything is getting hot. There is no place to buy any food at the hotel. They don't even have a snack bar at the pool. I think the bar had pizza in the evenings and that is all. Another con is that the Wi-Fi was terrible. It didn't work in any of the rooms, so you had to walk down to the pool area to get service. Even then, it was very slow and intermittent. Sending a photo to family took forever. There were 2 computers in the lobby to use, but also inconvenient. We used Tuff E Nuff tours to go snorkeling and they did a pretty good job. They are on-site at the hotel to book trips. The ocean in front of the hotel isn't good for swimming or playing in the water. There is lots of sea grass that makes swimming difficult and I really didn't see many people in the water. Because of the reef, there aren't any waves. My kids were hoping to body surf, but that isn't possible. But they do have nice lawn chairs on the beach. Four days was too long on Ambergris Caye. The town is dirty, difficult to get to (water taxi or golf cart) with nothing much to see or do. We loved laying by the pool and our snorkel trip, but we quickly got bored. We really enjoyed our time in Cayo seeing the Mayan ruins, Tikal, and cave tubing. I think if you're looking for a place to just relax and not have to leave the hotel, this is a great place.

Room Tip: We got 40% off a 2 bedroom villa in June because it was off-season

After a few days in Cayo, we were more than ready for some relaxation. Though it was low season, the weather was ideal. We were greeted by guest services in barefoot style and steps away from a rum optional welcome drink. Our package included a daily breakfast credit, snorkeling with the tuff e nuff adventure company and in-room Belizean style massages. All was well run and as promised. Coco beach is still constructing it's own restaurant so we made good use of the next door Green Iguana which featured a large menu of reliable food at reasonable prices. The highlight of coco beach is it's central pool area, impeccably manicured and picturesque. The modern rooms were also luxuriously appointed and service was wonderful. This seems by far the most upscale resort on Ambergris Caye - look no further!

The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were great. We were very disappointed with Tuff N Nuff services. We booked a fishing trip and our guide showed up late with boat motor problems. So we booked a trip for the next day and this guide show up on time but was constantly on the phone during the whole fishing trip. He was not a very good guide and spend all his time taking care of other business by phone. Would stay at Coco Beach again but would not use the services offered by Tuff N Nuff

We stayed in a regular room overlooking the pool and it was perfect. The bartenders at the bar are fantastic....but most of the drinks are not worth the price. I'm a lightweight according to my hubby and I could drink four to five drinks and not feel anything!! We loved the pool bar atmosphere and loved talking to the guys but try to go during happy hour for the two for one special. I think buying your own bottle of alcohol would be better and just visit the bar occasionally.
Don't bother bringing your laptop or even ipad...the free wifi was only in the pool bar and not your room. The connection was limited/poor. They have two desk top computers in the office which was great for checking email and checking into our flight.

Room Tip: The rooms were very clean! Don't forget to leave money for the ladies! They don't make much!

We began our Belizean honeymoon at the Coco Beach Resort. We were greeted at the water taxi by a resort employee with cool towels and cocktails, which was a treat after a long trip. We spent our time here relaxing by the pools, enjoying cocktails and taking trips into San Pedro. To get to San Pedro, we had to take the water taxi or rent a bike or golf cart, but that was fine since we enjoyed being outside of town. Although they advertised that wireless internet was available, it never worked during our trip but they do have two computers in the lobby to use.

If your planning a family beach vacation, CoCo Beach is the place to stay. We visited Belize for the first time and it will be the first of many to come! The resort is as beautiful as it looks on the website. Our two teenage daughters said there is not a better pool in San Pedro.(Ambergris Caye) They loved the water slide pool and taking pictures jumping off large rocks in pool. The condo was not only beautiful but very new and clean. All of the staff at CoCo Beach were very friendly and eager to accommodate our every need. One WARNING: Be careful of a guy that is not connected to CoCo Beach nor Tuff E Nuff his name is Stephfan Self ?? He had teenagers bring his card to our room and ask if we wanted to do a tour with him . We also heard them say he was in there condo with them.He lives on beach near resort. He represents himself as a tour guide, however , took people cave tubing when the government closed it due to not being safe. Water levels were to high from bad weather. He seems shady and made us uncomfortable. The thing I was most surprised about was how accommodating Tuff E Nuff tours were. They treated us like family. We had so much fun with them. They have one of the most respected dive masters ( Billy) on the island. All dive guides are trained by him. My husband and I are seasoned divers;however,my 13 and 17 yr old daughters are very new to diving. They were very patient with them ! We LOVED a zip line and cave tubing tour we did with them too. My favorite family day was a tour where we fished, snorkeled and barbecue our catches from the day on the beach . Our guide TIGGER actually got up at 5:30 that morning and prepared home made flour tortillas : )They also are a tour company that has a water taxi that was our primary transportation and tours all week. We appreciate all the staff at CoCo Beach( Corinna, Shannon) & and all the staff at Tuff E Nuff that made this a very memorable vacation
