We went to Coco Beach with another couple and absolutely loved it! We booked directly through their website as they had a deal running for low season and were very pleased with the customer service. They also set up our air transport through Tropic Air which was quick and easy. The arrival to San Pedro was smooth our luggage was taken over to the dock in a minivan and we all walked over to the dock and boarded a boat with our luggage.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink, the key to our room, and told to check in at our convenience. Our luggage was quickly delievered to our 3rd floor penthouse suite. The rooms were spacious with modern decor and all the amenities of home (Toaster, Blender, Coffeemaker). There was not a dishwasher in our unit but the maid washed all the dishes daily. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom since someone wrote on here there wasn't one. The beds were very comfortable. The penthouse suites have 2 king beds with one attached bathroom and one non-attached bathroom. The porch in the front was huge with room to lounge or enjoy your morning coffee not to mention a beautiful beach view. (B5) from the back porch we could see the pool. The location was perfect for us! We like to have our quiet solitude and then we could easily travel to town when we wanted more action. As other members have said this is by far the best resort on Ambergris Caye: location, service, rooms, and pool. The resort and rooms were kept very clean at all times.

We had daily breakfast included in our booking at the Belizean Shores restaurant. It is a very short walk from Coco Beach. This was great food with a choice of 6 different breakfasts. Emerson was our server in the mornings, he was so polite and one of the best servers we have ever had on an island! Our first night we had the Grouper for dinner here and it was amazing! Coco Beach restaurant will be a great addition, but it looks like it still has a long way to go to be complete.

The pool at Coco Beach is, as everyone else said, spectacular! On most days the four of us had it all to ourselves of course it is the low season. There is construction going on, but you mostly hear the waterfalls and we brought some music that drowned out the rest of the noise. Plus, people across the pool could not hear our music because of the waterfalls. One day was a little chilly so we sat mainly in the hot tub in the middle. Other days when it was really hot out we enjoyed all parts of the pool. We ate lunch here twice and it was okay, one day we ordered our breakfast from our room to be delivered to the pool and that was delicious! They have a volleyball net in the pool and we played one day. We brought our insulated mugs from home so we could bring filtered ice water from our room down to the pool. There is sand volleyball at Belizian Shores but we never saw anyone playing probably due to it being low season.

LeRoi from Tuff E Nuff set up our excursion for a day of snorkeling and a trip to Caye Caulker. We negotiated a deal for the catamaran for the 4 of us. LeRoi was very helpful, seek him out to assist you! We went to Shark Ray Alley and Ho Chan - both some of the best snorkeling, we swam with sharks, rays, and saw several turtles up close.

Island Ferry passes - We chose to get the weekly Island Ferry passes ($40US) since they run a few late night ferrys (midnight and 2:00am) and we like to go out at night. Their schedule varies for pick up, there is a list at the dock where you turn on the green light to go to town.

Restaurants to try (Beaware the restaurants don't serve dinner after 9pm) :
For a romantic dinner try Mambo at Matachica - I made reservations ahead of time for a surprise and they set up everything including a private boat to and from Coco Beach. Definitely order the Molten Choc Cake!
Fidos- In Town -Great fish, jerk shrimp appetizers and conch/lobster fritters) great music after 9pm during the week (duet singing w/ acoustic guitar fantastic). The other band that played Friday night we did not care for.
Caliente- In Town- On Friday night had great taco night (chicken/pineapple and lobster were our favorites) and delicious Margaritas. Quick walk South on the beach in San Pedro.
Street Vendors in San Pedro: One of our friends from Belizean Shores Restaurant took us over to get some cheap tacos at the street vendor when we went to town after 9pm. We went to the one closest to the beach and they were good and safe to eat.
Pirates Pizza- We Ordered this to our room- it was decent
Bar:
Big Daddy's - We hung out here and Fido's most nights and it was a blast meeting the locals. They really wanted to take care of us and watch over us. We always felt really safe if there were 2 or 4 of us.
Spa:
We went to Sol Spa in the Phoenix- it was amazing! All 4 of us got massages, 2 at a time. They do not do couples massages in the same room. The therapists are all highly trained and you can tell! There is not really a "spa experience" with robes etc. but it was still one of the best I have had! They do have a quiet area to relax and wait.

Tips:
*We bought some bottles of liquor at the Duty Free in the airport Houston but they do have one in Belize City (1 per person only is allowed upon entering Belize). We drove the golf cart to get mixers and beer at Captain Morgans little store. They have cocount and pineapple juice there and we made our own Pina Coladas. This save us a lot of $.
*Bring a head lamp or a flash light, these were very useful at night when it was pitch black.
*Ladies-No need to bring any high heels - with the docks and the beach it would be very difficult to wear them.
*Tips were really appreciated by everyone - Everyone is really nice here if you reach out first.

We absolutely recommend Coco Beach Belize on the North End of Ambergris Caye if your idea of a vacation is not to party every night, but to walk on a beach, lounge in the best pool on the island, eat simply, stay in awesome digs and just want to feel great to be alive! Coco Beach gives you all that along with a caring and warm staff that I guarantee you will hug on your last day.

Until their restaurant is finished, you walk a short way on the beach to their sister property, The Belizian Shores, and eat the BEST Jerk Chicken and Spicy Pasta dishes you'll ever encounter. We opted not to cook ourselves in the condo's kitchen that was huge and totally modern, but to eat at the other establishments up and down the beach, mostly at The Belizian Shores because we LOVED their food! Tip: Take a box of your favorite microwave popcorn with you - you'll find it's comfort food at night after dinner while you're watching the beautiful pool and ocean with a margaritta or Belikin in your hand. Stock your fridge from the store at Captain Morgans as the bar at Coco Beach does close early (in the low season it did anyway).

The Tuff Enuff Dive Crew were totally professional in their scuba dive trips and made a week's worth of diving very enjoyable and easy. As we were going to spend a second week in the Southern end at Caribbean Villas, we opted not to go into town on the water taxis, but do so if you'll be spending your time up North only.

I would say we will return here and that's not something we do often due to the many places we want to vist. But we love Ambergris Caye as proven by our second trip to Caribbean Villas in the South end.

If you can't do steps easily, make sure you get a ground floor unit (which still has steps). Else steep steps will greet you every day. But for us, it was steps well worth what was waiting for us when we got there. Oh, and a balcony / porch unmatched by none.

We took tropic air over and would do it again in a heartbeat. The view really gives you a great picture of the area. Take lots of small bills too - you will WANT to tip only because of the warm friendship you will receive at every turn.

From the moment we arrived we knew that we picked the right place to stay, We were greeted at the airport and taken by taxi and boat to our resort. We were greeted by the awesome Hotel staff and Tuff Enuff tours on the dock. The room (or should I say condo) was amazing!! It had very nice finishes like granite counters, stainless appliances, tile floors, nice woodwork, etc. One of the groundskeepers was even nice enough to get my girlfriend down a coconut and cut it open for her to drink. The whole resort was very clean and just a short water taxi ride from town. The guys at Tuff E'nuff offered 7 day private water taxi service for $40 per person which was extremely convenient. All together this was an amazing trip never to be forgotten and I cannot wait to come back here.

We read the reviews about Coco Beach before we stayed there and were happy with our choice. The resort is still a work in progress with construction going on behind the main rooms, but they were very respectful with the construction so it wasn't an issue. There is no restaurant on site (will be done in November) but the restaurant next door is really close and the bar has a reasonably full menu (food is sent over from the restaurant next door). We also ordered pizza from in town several times after long days in the water -- it was incredibly good and they deliver to the hotel (they have teenage boys that actually bike the pizza up the coast from San Pedro).

The hotel will arrange pick-up and drop-off in San Pedro via water taxi. Just let them know how you're arriving (air or water) and they'll make sure you're taken care of.

You have full access to the sister hotel next door for their pool but Coco Beach's pool is really nice and is the largest we saw on the island. The swim up bar is great, but the service is incredibly slow unless you get the female bartender who rocks -- the guys were slow even when you were the only person at the bar.

The hotel does not have its own dock yet (they were building it while we were there) but the sister hotel does and it is close by. We went on several trips with the tour shop at the dock -- the BBQ/snorkel trip was fantastic with Elias as the guide but we had a trip to Hol Chan and Shark Ray alley that was not so great because the guide was in a major hurry even though we were the only people on the tour. Take the tour to Bacalar Chico (not offered through this resort) if you have time because the snorkeling in that trip is great and it is cool to see the channel.

My husband and I are divers and the rest of our group snorkel. The resort booked a trip to the Blue Hole for my husband and me. It was a fantastic trip -- 3 dives in one day with the first being at the Blue Hole. I almost didn't go because I didn't think diving the Blue Hole would be that great (it is just a hole in the reef after all), but the stalagtites and stalagmites at depth are incredible and we shared the dive with several white reef sharks. We also booked a diving trip from the resort that took us out just beyond the reef -- I wouldn't recommend that one so much because visibility wasn't as good and there wasn't much to see.

Service at the hotel was slow. There were six of us in a 2 bedroom suite (kids slept on the sofabed) and they seemed to have a problem keeping our toilet paper stocked and the office kept running out of coffee and creamer. The room was beautiful though, wood trim and spacious with a great view of the ocean and a balcony overlooking the pool. We also had a full kitchen and basic dishes, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, etc.

Overall the annoyances were minor and we loved our stay. The food at the restaurant was wonderful even if service was Belizean. The view from the rooms was great, the quality and condition of the rooms was incredible, and we really enjoyed our stay.

We are scuba divers and are out in the hot sun all day, everyday. This resort is so nice, air-conditioned, beautiful pool and the perfect place to relax and rest for the non-diving times. We loved it!

Tucked in between Belize's main shore and the great Belizean reef, the keys (cayes) are perfectly protected and even the ocean becomes quiet here with calm breakless waves coming to shore. From your beachfront hammock, you can see larger waves break over the reef in the distance, and you look forward to tomorrow's explorations to snorkel, kayak or hopping a water taxi to town to enjoy all of the things this beautiful country has to offer. But today you feel comfortable in just kicking back by the amazing pool with swim-up bar, and chatting with friendly and helpful staff that can help make your stay the trip of a lifetime. The rooms are more like an oasis with cool air conditioning, fans, and views to die for. My friends and I had an amazing time and are already planning another trip back! Make Coco Beach Resort your home away from home in this tropical paradise.

Though many of the previous comments about 10 minute water taxi's to town, mild construction and other small little inconveniences this should not detract you at all from staying here. If you want perfection go to the Ritz. We stayed 2 weeks and would have stayed longer.
I have traveled all over the Caribbean and work for a large hotel chain so trust me when i tell you that the staff are some of the best you'll meet. There not high and mighty but there genuinely nice and personable.
I personally went for the diving and though Tuff Enough is a smaller outfit they provide everything you need.
