“Serene property”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Upon arrival, you immediately hit vacation mode. The property is beautifully designed giving a sense of serenity. The pictures on the website are an accurate portrayal. Check in was fast with a nice refreshing welcome rum punch while being processed. We stayed in a lagoon view room, but were happy with the accommodations. The bed in the master slept wonderfully. The water pressure was a little low in the shower, and was a difficult to wash thick hair. The only shower head is a rain shower, which is not my preference, but it may be different in other room types. The market closet to the resort Mata Grande, is small and therefore a hit or miss with products. They will deliver to the resort for free for purchases >$75 dollars (Belizean dollars) so consider placing an order before your arrival on their website. The market in San Pedro has a bigger selection, and the prices are a little cheaper, but you have to make the trip via water taxi or golf cart. The employees of the resort as well as the the Belizeans encountered off resort were quite welcoming and friendly. The resort employees go out of their way to get what you need without being overbearing. The restaurant on the resort was decent, and the food prices are average, but beware of the additional surcharges which can potentially add 20-30% to your bill. Also be aware that you may not swim directly off the beach, but there is ocean swimming off the dock. The pool is long and had a nice design, but can feel crowded with only a few people in it, especially children. Overall, the resort and country are beautiful, and an ideal place to relax and unwind.

My girlfriend and I spent 7 days and 6 nights at Las Terrazas in August. We had an amazing time at the resort!

Booking: Lorraine and Carolyn from reservations were very informative and helpful. They helped to arrange multiple surprises for my girlfriend to include a couples massage on the day we arrived and a private beach side dinner. Lorraine also helped to arrange transportation for us from Belize City to San Pedro.

Upon arriving at Las Terrazas we were greeted with punch rum (local island drink), a moist towel and the front desk manager who led us to the reception area. While I checked us in, my girlfriend received a complimentary 20 minute massage; helps to deal with the long trip we had to make from the west coast!

Accommodations: We upgraded from our Lagoon Terrace 1st floor villa to the upper terrace lagoon villa, if you can do it...it's worth it! We had a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedroom (closed off), and bathroom on the lower floor; and the upper floor consisted of the master suite, a wrap around lanai and an outdoor bathroom. We had a view of the ocean and beach from our bedroom lanai! If you can try get room 229! Only issue that we had with the room was that the outdoor bathroom had some ants crawling in the bathroom, which maintenance quickly addressed.

Amenities: The facilities and amenities on site were top notch! The kayaks, bicycles, stand-up paddle boards, and hobbie cats were all free for the guests to use. Plus if you aren't familiar with how to sail a hobbie cat the boat captains will take their time to give you a quick lesson!

Activities:
1. Suggest getting a couples massage upon arrival, extremely soothing and relaxing
2. Moonlight Beach Dinner is a must; 150 bucks for a 5 course meal and bottle of wine...can't beat it!
3. Excursions: the resort staff quickly helped us book two days worth of excursions; one day we spent cave tubing and exploring the xunantunich ruins and another day was spent diving the blue hole
4. RELAX...you're on vacation

Service:
Excellent, the O restaurant serves some delicious meals, albeit a bit expensive...but expected for a resort. The pool staff was super attentive and quickly brought us drinks.

Tips:
1. Try renting a golf cart in San Pedro; its about 50 bucks a day vs renting on-site (there are only 3 golf carts available at the resort)
2. The resort is about 5 miles away so prepare to either take a water taxi or rent a golf cart to get to San Pedro
3. It's Belize, everyone is super friendly there! So be courteous back to them. Also remember its island life...things run a little slower!
4. It rains...just be prepared for flash thunderstorms
5. Bring bug spray, the mosquitoes attack at night
6. If you get tired of eating at O every night, try Capricorn or Ahi. Also head on down the beach to Palapa Bar & Grill for lunch. Great food and drinks at great prices! We also went to the Greenhouse Grocery store in town and purchased food to make dinner and breakfast for 2 days (helps to cut your costs if you're trying to save a little)
7. Wi-Fi is a bit spotty, but just head on down to the pool and bring your phone, ipad, laptop and wi-fi works pretty darn good there!
8. Hit up Duty Free once you land in Belize City...pick up a couple bottles of wine and hard liquor.

Bottom line: we had a great time, would love to return again and will recommend this resort to all of our friends!

Room Tip: Try Villa 229! Great view of the sea and if you prefer to be a bit distant from everyone else, its t...

We stayed at Las Terrazas for 9 days. Staff is friendly and very helpful! Food is good and the SPA is AMAZING!!!! Keep in mind that almost all of your outings will be either in boat taxi, golf cart, or the most awful bumpy/longest ride in a taxi van---this hotel is about a 40 min golf cart ride or $50 one way boat taxi ride from town.
We stayed in their two bedroom, two full bath, full kitchen living room and dinning room suit. We didn't use the kitchen much but it is nice to have. If you plan on fishing and cooking your catch, or you can have their restaurant prepare your fish for you.
A golf cart rental for your trip is a MUST!!!

First, let me say that we appreciate your praise and kind comments and are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We also wanted to say that our location is a very positive selling point to our guests, however with the seclusion away from the hustle bustle of town also comes with the added cost of getting there by water taxi, land taxi, or golf cart. We also understand your comment about the back road being bumpy and therefore encourage travel to the property by water. The sand road is scheduled for some upgrading and the resorts are helping with the costs by improving their section of the road. We are proud to be a part of this infrastructure improvement and you will see some positive changes on your next visit. Again, we appreciate your time in commenting on your experience at Las Terrazas. We value your thoughts and look forward to your next visit.

Regards,
Carolyn Stone

This was by far our best vacation thus far. From the very beginning it was a breeze. Lorraine was very helpful when I wanted to make changes to my reservation even when I missed my flight. She rescheduled my Belize airport pick up without any extra cost.

Thought I would be afraid of small planes, since I had a previous bad experience but the view was so amazing I forgot all about it. Boat ride was awesome, resort's welcome was great thanks to Curl and Manuel. Restaurant service was impressive! Evan and kahrim thanks for going above and beyond. The food deserves a special review since I had quite a few favorites- breakfast a must, lunch-popcorn shrimp and caesar salad, ceviche could have used a bit of heat otherwise fine, ate most dinners in San Pedro, (wild mango best food-especially dessert, fido's bar best ceviche and Elvi's had the best fish dinners).

The room was beautiful, well maintained condo style. Cleaning crew came by twice a day. Spa service was excellent. Security was always present at nights, no matter how late I came back from the city so I always felt safe.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for relaxation, quality accommodation, excellent service and food!

What can I say about this wonderful resort? We were met at the dock, after being personally picked up in a water taxi, by "tutti fruit" cocktails. What a wonderful welcome to Belize!

Our week stay was totally awesome. The staff was so welcoming and ready to help us in whatever we wanted to do: snorkeling, diving, bike riding, shopping. And they even adjusted our bikes to make sure they were the right fit for us us to ride along the beach. Wonderfully helpful!

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone wishing to experience the best of Belize!

Eileen
