“Wonderful resort”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This was our fifth trip to Belize, fourth to Ambergris Caye. We had previously stayed at Captain Morgan's (twice, once for our wedding), Portofino (honeymoon), and Capricorn. Las Terrazas was the best place we have stayed in Belize, and one of the best places we've ever stayed, period. The resort itself is beautiful, with a fabulous pool that is maintained to perfection daily. We had the "best room in the house" according to the staff, room 217. We had three balconies in the two bedroom apartment-type accommodation, including a "rooftop" style balcony overlooking the ocean. The room had all of the luxuries of home, while still maintaining its Belizean style.
The staff was extremely accommodating. Whenever we asked for something, it was delivered to us either in our room or at the pool within minutes.
The food at "O" was very good. Yes, the prices are not cheap, but for the convenience and quality, I think they were in line with the rest of the places north of town.
We would definitely return.

I took a group of 26 people to the Las Terrazas in February of 2014. It was a sales incentive trip so it was a varied group of employees all with different interests and backgrounds. Las Terrazas met everyone's expectations and then some! The rooms were unbelievably big, clean and comfortable. The resort is not that big so all of the rooms felt like they were basically beachfront. The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was incredible. I have to say the best feature of the hotel was working with their management and staff to plan and execute the trip. They helped me to think of all sorts of details that I wouldn't have otherwise thought of and were extremely helpful. Once we were there they helped us with everything we needed ahead of time and anticipated what I needed help with. They kept our hospitality suite stocked perfectly. Because it's not a huge resort, it doesn't have the "big resort" feel so if you want to be anonymous on a work trip this is probably not the best place to go. We are a group that is all pretty friendly so it was perfect for us. It is not the closest to town but we did have fun renting a golf cart and taking a bumpy ride into town one afternoon. There is also a dive shop right there at the end of the dock so that was great for the divers in our group. Would highly recommend the resort!

We visited Belize and decided to stay at Las Terrazas after hearing from numerous friends how nice the property was. It did not disappoint! From the moment we booked to the time we checked out, they made every detail easy and non-stressful. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to be beachfront in a less touristy area, close to dive sites yet easy to get into "town" if we wanted a little night life. It was all that and more. The staff was relaxed, helpful, friendly and catered to our every need. We were impressed with the room (we received an upgrade), we had a fabulous dining experience and we loved the access to all of the water and beach activities we desired!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard if you don't want to pay the extra $$ for beachfront. I...

My family stayed at LT for a wedding. The facilities are nice and the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice, clean and well decorated. The facilities are very clean. The O restaurant is very good and food can be served poolside which is nice. The food is expensive as are drinks. LT is far away from everything which is nice but also inconvenient. There are bikes to use and the bike ride into the small store is not a hard one and is a fun adventure. The beach just a short walk down from LT is disgusting and smelly. There is also construction on the other side of the resort that takes away front eh beauty of the island and location. Overall LT is a good place to stay. Its secluded and nice. It has a pool and restaurant with pool service. It is very expensive and you do not really gain anything from the price. I don't think it is above and beyond better than other resorts on the island. I have previously stayed at Coco Beach and loved it there. It's definitely worth staying at and you will not be disappointed.

Just returned from Belize, Ambergris Caye and although our trip was a wee bit too long on this remote little island, Las Terrazas made it a delight to relax in.
The services provided were top notch from the beginning. However, NOTE THIS: there offices are located in Houston, TX. We booked our reservation on Fri evening and arrived Sunday evening and they did not have the reservation on file due to their 'closed offices'. It was a bit of a cluster **** getting our room but it all came together beautifully as they greet you with rum punch and hot towels. Granted, our method of planning for this trip was extremely last minute and spontaneous; this is likely not the norm for everyone.
Alex our server on almost a daily basis, was filled with knowledge of the island and Belize in general. He had some fun stories of being a private butler on another remote island that is home to many celebrities (think, Leo, Johnny, Madge).
Whenever we needed something either Curl, or Tephany at the front were there to accommodate our needs. Private boats were available to take us snorkeling, fishing and sight seeing on the northern part of the island.
Ask for Gasper if you want to fish, collect conch and have a BBQ on the beach with fresh made ceviche. It was amazing!
Golf carts are the method of transportation and then only way to really get around if you want to go into town and LT has many to provide; it is a daily cost so be sure to return your key if you don't need to use it the next day...it will add up!
The spa was delightful as well, the girls were strong in their massages and super accommodating. However, the prices run congruent to those in the states. Although the conversion is 2 to 1 from US to Belizean, the prices at the hotel are in US.
Lastly, Ak'Bol Yoga retreat is up the road about a mile for the best yoga experience ever, and I'm a yoga instructor. Maybe it was the setting, maybe it was Kirsten the owner, either way it is a must! The food is amazing as well as Claudia the sweet little thing that will make you the best Papaya smoothy ever!
Bravo for Las Terrazas and all the offerings on Ambergris Caye. However, if you are not a diver & have no intention of traveling back to the mainland for Cave Tubing or Zip Lining, 4 days would really be enough; we were there for 8.

Room Tip: It was really helpful to have our room face the pool since that is where we went every morning, afte...

We stayed at Las Terrazas in May of 2014 and it was truly lovely. It is somewhat remote in that it takes a 1.5 hr water taxi ride from Belize City to San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) and then another 20 minute cab ride to the resort. You could skip the water taxi from Belize City and instead fly Tropic Air right into San Pedro. The flight is 20 minutes and totally worth it if you fly during the day because the view of the water and coral reef is amazing!

Even though Las Terrazas was a bit of a jaunt, it was by far the best resort on the island as far as we were concerned. We bar hopped to several of the other hotels and resorted but still felt like LT was the jackpot. We stayed in the 2 bedroom condo which was awesome because we could do some of our own cooking and we had laundry facilities which are needed when all your cothes get wet and gubby from the being on a boat or beach all day.

The rooms were very pretty, the bathrooms large with both tubs and showers and we had two patio decks (one with a view of the property and the other with an ocean view)...everything was clean and tidy. The beds were super comfortable and we slept 4 with plenty of space. We could order room service or just walk out our front door for coffee, meals, drinks, whatever. I am a hotel snob and this one more than met my expecations. Everything you see on the website is exactly how it looks in real life only better.

While I loathe the idea of sitting by a pool when you are in the carribean and so close to an ocean, the pool at Las Terrazas was pretty awesome and thus we did find ourselves enjoying the meals by the pool followed by a quick dip here and there when it got hot. It was nice to have that luxury just outside the front door of our room...though the beach is literally 50 feet away as well so the options were plenty. The resort provides towels, kayaks, a hobe cat, etc... whenever you like...they just make it easy to do whatever you want and it's all so close at hand.

Breakfast is included at the restaurant there called "O". The servers there are wonderful (thank you Flor for a warm smile and sense of humor every morning and Alex for fun info tidbits and great service every night!). The food was mediocre but I would say that was true for all of Belize not just Las Terrazas. The ceviche (which Belize is known for) is delicious, fresh and by far the most yummy dish in the area...everything else is just okay. If you stick with seafood options you'll likely have the best experience though we did cook a lot of what we caught while out fishing and that for sure proved to be the best meals culinary wise. We did enjoy eating at Elvi's Kitchen in San Pedro as well as Caliente...both were great restaurants in town.

Most everyone in the town uses golf carts to get around and Las Terrazas allows guests to rent them by the day as needed. That was super helpful because the road to get into town is long and unpaved so riding bikes can be quite a workout and if it's hot and humid it could be a bit rough so the carts were a blessing...plus they were fun and allowed us to explore much more. LT also offers free bikes to use and there is a good amount you can explore via that as well.

Akbol Retreat (down the road from LT) offers AMAZING YOGA everyday at 9am except Sundays at 10am. The class is held out on the pier under a covered palapa so your class is conducted with an ocean breeze and the sounds of the ocean as the backdrop...it was the best part of our trip for sure. Akbol also has super yummy smoothies (we had the papaya smoothie and it was delicious) made by sassy and awesome bartender/server Claudia! She is great for suggestions on what's good and their menu is pretty robust.

We did a lot of fishing, snorketing and swimming with a couple different private guides. Gas, Manny, Clifford and Marcos treated us wonderfully, found great spots for seeing the best ocean wildlife and were delightful to spend the day with. We had boatmade ceviche and cooked our fishing catches right on the beach....all yummy and very indigenous feeling.

There are stray dogs all over the island but one is more sweet than the next. They will patiently wait in hopes you will throw them some food but they will also take whatever love and attention you want to give them! There are also a great many iguanas that hang out in and around the hotel and they will rush right out to eat whatever fruit you choose to share.

All in all "La Isla Bonita" (yes Madonna wrote her song about Ambergris Caye) is a wonderful place to visit. The people are kind, happy, open people who almost always wave every time you pass. The scenery is gorgeous, the water warm and the expereince worth while. Las Terrazas embodies all those same qualities and then some.

PS...the general managers live on property with their ENORMOUS 185lb great dane Pepper. Pepper has simply the sweetest personality and because of his size (especially compared to his pint sized owner) is a bit of a rock star. He has his own Facebook page...too cute.

Room Tip: The property is small enough that any room will be central to the pool, restaurant and beach so you...
