The Phoenix is the best place to stay in San Pedro. We came to Belize to celebrate our one year anniversary and wanted to stay at a nice hotel. This place exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms are spotless and huge! Our view of the pool and ocean was beautiful. Housekeeping does a great job with keeping the rooms clean. We were actually given a 2 bedroom suite and had more than enough room for the two of us. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to most of the restaurants, bars, and even a grocery store. We rented our golf cart through The Phoenix, as the prices were about the same as any other golf cart rental. It was more convienent to go through them. We also booked our excursion through The Phoenix. We did a full day excursion of mayan ruins, zip-lining, and cave tubing. The prices were about the same as the others except you go with a private tour guide. We didn't have to deal with riding in a huge bus with tons of people. We just had to go with one other couple. The only thing we did not book through the hotel was our snorkling trip. We booked it through a local guy named Martin located just a few piers from The Phoenix. We were so glad we did because we had our own boat, avoided all the crowds, and he knew how to hold the sharks and sting rays.
This hotel is by far one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We honestly do not have any complaints! We plan on staying at The Phoenix next time we are in Belize.

Room Tip: You must call them directly to book.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and, without repeating everything mentioned in earlier reviews, you will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at The Phoenix. Spacious well appointed condos with outstanding staff.

I don't have a lot to add to all the positive reviews, but this resort really gets it right in both service and facilities. I absolutely hate being 'nickel & dimed' at hotels, and at this resort, it is the opposite; lots of complimentary little extras; welcome drink in souvenir glass, free cell phone use with pre-loaded minutes, free iPad, kindle and wii loaners, free DVD library, free taxi service to and from the airport, etc., etc.! The location is great; just at the edge of town with dozens of beachfront restaurants within an easy stroll. The condo itself was fabulous; we had a third floor 2 bedroom oceanfront unit, and it was in perfect condition, with great furnishings, amazing views, super comfortable beds, great kitchen, and very spacious with a huge wrap-around deck. The staff were all wonderful, and the pre-trip planning services that Stacey and Mark provided made everything so easy, from booking our Tropic Air flights (and just charging them to our room!), to arranging tours that picked us up right at the dock at the resort, etc. They were also extremely organized; they knew when we were going on tours, so housekeeping always came at just the right time! The only caveat is that the resort is not on a wide sandy beach, rather on a sandy malecon with a seawall, so if you expect to lay on the beach and go back and forth into the water, this isn't what you will find (though we didn't see big wide sandy beaches anywhere on the island). The other hing you might want to be aware of us that there are no elevators, so if stairs are an issue, be sure to ask for a ground floor unit. Neither of these were issues for us, and we were EXTREMELY impressed with this resort and the service provided, and we have high standards, being elite level members of Ritz Carlton Rewards, having been to almost half of the T&L top 500 hotels, etc.

I'm a skeptic so I was expecting the reviews to be inflated, but they're not. The facilities and service are exceptional all the way.

The property itself is immaculate. If you wake up early enough in the morning you'll see a small army trimming plants and flowers, raking the sand, cleaning everything, and taking care of the smallest details imaginable. The design of the property makes it seem like you're completely secluded, though right in the middle of San Pedro. The location is fantastic - just about anything is walking distance, and there are multiple piers close by where you can board boats for diving, fishing, etc.

The people at the resort are friendly and helpful. They greeted us by name. They were the very best on the island at booking activities, dinner reservations, etc. Our rooms were always cleaned soon after we left for the afternoon, and we never came home to a mess. They have security at night that's always close by but not in your face. Stacey (The Phoenix) and Kelly (Red Ginger) are both great. We're planning an event at the hotel later this year, and they've provided better service than all of the luxury hotel chains that are "known" for customer service.

We tend to like to explore local places to eat, but we had lunch at the Red Ginger and it was excellent. We had dinner at the sister restaurant (Blue Water Grill) and it was also really good. The specialty drink menu at the pool kept us entertained. We both were impressed at the quality of massages we got at the spa.

The best compliment I can give is that when the trip was over we were so relaxed that we felt like we had been gone for a month rather than just 5 days. I can't wait to go back.

We have stayed at the Phoenix twice. We love the contemporary, Mayan, architecture design of the resort. Comfortable, boutique, size complex. Spacious, concrete, condominiums with 10' ceilings, and huge deck areas make these units stand apart from most resorts and hotels.
This is not a white sand beach resort. But the Phoenix is the most convenient location to everything in San Pedro, and all the water activities. The staff are lovely. Some of the nicest people we have ever experienced. The rates are higher than most Hawaiian resorts, but the experience is exclusive, and not shared with hundreds of other guests.

We recently stayed at The Phoenix for 6 days and could not have been happier with our choice!

Traveling was simple to Belize, even though I was unsure of our tiny Tropic Air plane ride, it was a gorgeous way to see the island before we arrived. (A great recommendation from the Phoenix staff.) It took less than 5 minutes by taxi to get to the Phoenix. While the outside was very unassuming, inside the resort walls is gorgeous! The location was so convenient throughout our trip!

As soon as we arrived the front desk staff was extremely friendly, they equipped us with complementary drinks, our keys, a cell phone with free minutes already loaded, a map of the island and many recommendations on the spots to see. We went ahead and booked our half day snorkeling to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley with Lil' Alfonse (a MUST do!! this, coming from a very inexperienced snorkeler who had a previous bad experience - Alfonse and Chino were awesome instructors and so much fun! Don't miss out on swimming with the sharks!).

Stacy gave us tour of the property (beautiful) and then explained our accomodations. While my husband and I were on this trip with another couple the 2 bd/2 ba condo was the perfect choice. We had a large veranda that went the lenth of our condo, beautiful open rooms and lovely bathrooms. They arranged beforehand for the second bedroom to be converted from 2 twins to a King size bed which fit us perfectly. I slept perfectly the entire trip! They also supplied complementary purified water which was a great expense to not have to worry about (although the water is safe to drink).

Stacy reccommended the Lazy Croc for lunch that day (since it's only open on the weekends) and we decided to go for it instead of sticking around the resort. She arranged for a golf cart and we headed to have a drink by the pool while we waited - only for the cart to arrive before we could have a drink! Driving the golf cart through town was fun and a great way to explore the island. Lazy Croc was great bbq - and this is coming from a group of southerners. We also got to see the crocodile try eat a bird! On the way back to the resort we stopped at Palapa's and enjoyed drinks on the upper deck watching sunset - so relaxing!

I highly recommed the Fry Jacks at Estels for a relaxing breakfast on the beach. (One of my favority things about the trip.) We spent a lot of our trip at the pool - which I wasn't sure about because usually I want to be on the beach. I was worried I'd be dissapointed by the sea wall at the Phoenix. But it was just the opposite. You get the view and the sea breeze without getting sand and salty water. Plus, a pool side bar that makes awesome Dirty Bananas. We would wander back into town for lunch, a 5 - 10 minute walk to every restaurant we wanted to go to. (Other favorite restaurants - Wild Mangos, Legends, Rojo Lounge.) Even the street vendors along the way were friendly and not pushy!

It was so nice every evening to come to the resort and have the welcoming security guards open the gate for us. The ladies at the front desk went above and beyond to make arrangements for us. They were quick to notify us when our snorkeling was postponed due to the weather but handled all of the arrangements for us so there was no hassle at all. They even offered to order beer straight from the distributor for us because they said that was the least expensive way! They called all over town to find a golf cart for us, made restaurant reservations, helped our husbands arrange a private boat ride for a romantic dinner and much more. The housekeeping staff was so friendly and always did a great job replenishing the items we needed.

Choosing to stay at The Phoenix is probably what made our trip to Belize so amazing! Even before we arrived Stacy was quick to respond to email questions about money, safety, excursions, etc. Usually once I've travled somewhere I'm ready to see the next place, but I think Belize and The Phoenix will be on our must return list. Overall it was a fabulous trip!

Everything about our stay at the Phoenix led us to believe each step of the process is well thought out. From pick-up/ check in (where you receive a free cell phone with credit for local calls to check out, we felt the staff predicted our every step and had answers ready for all your needs.

The condos are amazing. The views from the second floor of the Caribbean are beautiful and they also overlook the pool. Huge verandas with comfortable seating and lounging wrap around the oceanfront condos, offering cool breezes and a great spot to have dinner or a drink or two. The appliances and furniture are the best we've seen in any comparable resort. We felt like we had found our second home, especially as the beds are ridiculously comfortable.

Being a short stroll to the center of town was ideal for the morning stroll for coffee or the late night wobble from the bars. We both dive, so had a 2 min walk to the shop pier.

There was only 1 other couple staying at the resort, so had lots of privacy. Even if the pool were to be busy, we imagine it still to be the perfect place.
