“Can't wait to return!”
Reviewed 14 January 2011

What an amazing experience. The staff were all incredibly friendly and went above and beyond for your needs. They made it incredibly easy to do any activity on the island by taking care of all reservations at the front desk. If you wanted to rent a boat to go diving the next day, talk to the front desk and it was taken care of. Dinner reservations, golf cart rental, cab service, arranging transportation to and from Belize City? Front desk will do it all. They also offer complimentary iPads, cell phones and Kindles for guests during their stay, which was the first I had experienced. The rooms were huge, very very nice and beautifully furnished, and each had an amazing view of the beach/ocean. The hotel is within walking distance from anywhere in San Pedro, so you have access to a ton of bars, restaurants and shopping. The grounds are impeccably manicured and very peaceful. You almost forget you're right in the middle of the town and all the action when you're sitting at the pool or walking around on the grounds. They had a happy hour Friday evening where they offered complimentary wine, beer and rum punch; again, something extra they didn't have to do. The restaurant is great and so is the spa. Overall the Phoenix and its staff is what made the trip so memorable. In fact it was such an amazing experience, we changed our wedding destination from another country to Ambergris Caye at the Phoenix. I can't wait to return!

What a comfortable, spacious, well appointed place! We had a 2 bedroom unit with huge balcony. All balconies are ocean view. The staff is friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant twice and enjoyed the food. The attached Spa is also excellent.
We rented a golf cart at the front desk and explored the island for an afternoon--you can't beat this location if you like to try different restaurants every day. The only appliances we used in the kitchen were the refrigerator and the blender for pina coladas! There is a nice wine shop in town with fairly good selection as well. We used the Los Amigos dive shop just down the beach from the Phoenix. Two thumbs up!

We stayed at The Phoenix December 23-28 with 3 teenagers 15-21. We have a beautiful 2 bedroom unit with the largest balcony I have ever seen. The staff at the Pheonix go out of their way to help you with everything from your room, to your dinner reservations, to golf cart rentals to just about anything. We had spotty internet in our room the frst night and the next morning they brought us our own router and a bottle of wine with a note apologizing for the incovenience. The food at Red Ginger was outstanding and was served poolside during the day. The massages at the spa were wonderful. We would stay here again if and when we find ourselves back in San Pedro.

We have just returned from a lovely week-long stay at the Phoenix Resort. The beautiful rooms, pools and outdoor areas were absolutely perfect. The staff was attentive and kind. This was just the vacation we were looking for with much relaxation in a delightful setting.
In response to the previous note of security concerns....the security was superb. There was constant security presence at the beach gate and the front entry. The staff appeared to know all the comings/goings of the guests in a conscientous and discreet manner.
We would highly recommend the Phoenix Resort!

Beautiful hotel, great amenities and service. Supposed to have security guards on the premises, but they can't be found after dark, and if they are found they are sleeping. I had friends who returned from the beach, late at night and were mugged right at the gate to the Phoenix where the security was supposed to be. So enjoy your vacation but don't expect to be protected at the Phoenix,

This review was written by someone who did not stay at our resort and includes false information. No one was mugged in front of our property, and our nighttime security guard Jaime who has been with us for five years patrols the property and beachfront every night.

There are also seven large security lights along the beachfront, and a motion detector light at our beach entrance. Our beachfront is extremely well lit and safe. The back of our resort is also located adjacent to San Pedro’s police station.

If this reviewer had stayed at the resort they would be aware of these things.

We are very proud of the security of our property, as well as the vacation experience we provide our guests.

We are hopeful Trip Advisor readers will read the real reviews from guests who actually stayed at our resort to get honest feedback on what a vacation is like at The Phoenix and on Ambergris Caye. We are confident that will paint a much more accurate picture of our resort.

Title says it all. We've spent time in Belize on several occasions but this was our first time staying at The Phoenix. From the moment the staff brought our bags from the taxi cab up to our room in C3, the hospitality couldn't have been better. Pam at the front desk and Rolando at the pool bar in particular are great. There is significant attention to detail in the rooms, such as filtered water - a difference maker anytime you travel in the Caribbean. The Phoenix is a simple, elegant resort that we didn't want to leave.

The Phoenix is one of the most beautiful and well-run establishments I have ever stayed. We were welcomed with fresh ginger cocktails and a friendly front desk. The rooms had beautiful decor and were incredibly spacious. I especially loved the massive decks overlooking the multi-tiered pool area and the super comfy beds. The Phoenix is well-located and the on-site restaurant Red Ginger is a must-visit! I went with a large group of friends and we all agreed we'd be coming back again (hopefully soon!)
