Chose The Phoenix because of all the positive reviews. No other place had 100% +. And they exceeded my expectations. Future trips elsewhere will be compared to The Phoenix. Great location in the heart of San Pedro. New. Modern amenities. GREAT lighting in the room -- with DIMMERS. Not crowded at all -- quiet and relaxing. Predominantly couples and families with grown kids. You get what you pay for. When you add up everything you'd pay for at other resorts in Belize, The PHoenix is well worth it.

Outdoor dining space on balcony with two reclining chairs. Jacuzzi tub in master bath. Pillows (about 8 of them) in every room. Slept like a baby. Wifi in the room and at the pool.

Great communication by the staff before our arrival (Thank you Stacy). They coordinated everything, including the connecting flight from Belize City. Our departing flight was well after check out time, and they extended our stay at the room no charge, without our asking, too. Nice to have top of the line GE appliances including washer & dryer. The resort also provides a free mobile phone to use while there...they've thought of everything. You also can use their iPads, iPods. Not a negative by any means -- they could have used sharper knives in the kitchen. Probably ok for most people. (I just have heightened awareness after investing in some Wusthofs.)

Their customer service is top notch. I bought some fresh coconuts and Graciano helped me crack them open to enjoy the meat. The food at the Red Ginger restaurant was probably the best in San Pedro. Things to do: Rent a golf cart and drive all around town. Take the Lamenai Adventure tour (by plane) and climb the Mayan ruins. Snorkel the Barrier Reef. Eat at their sister restaurant, The Blue Water Grill. Have a drink at Palapas over the water.

This was our first trip to Ambergris Caye and we will be going again for sure! The Phoenix Resort is where we would definitely stay again. The grounds/landscaping were beautiful and clean. The staff are professional, friendly and very helpful in planning and directing you to great adventures. Our room was incredible! Stacy along with her great staff made sure our stay was comfortable, very special and welcome. The staffs caring customer service is very refreshing! I can not think of one bad thing to say about the resort....the grounds were beautiful, the room was very clean with comfortable beds and lots of pillows, the staff were so friendly and professional, had 2 relaxing massages while we stayed in the spa and The Ginger restaurant along with their sister restaurants were very yummy! All around a great experience! Highly recommend!

I was sulking my way thru a rainy chilly Portland week when on Weds one of my favorite colleagues broke the news they had to cancel their trip due to a back injury. He really didn't want to see the trip go to waste --- one catch --- be there Friday!! I shifted into high gear and began exchanging email with Mark and Stacey, the resort general managers. I shamed my best friend to take the day off for her birthday and join me on this improbable impromptu adventure. Cashed in airline miles and away we went.

After a red eye to Miami and a long delay to get to Belize City, we boarded the Tropic Air cessna excited to see this place we had read about. If I could give six stars for service I would. The grounds were sparkling clean and the weather was in the 80s with a little breeze. We spent time visiting Ricky who was manning the pool bar :)

Our unit was a 2br beachfront with a huge wrap around patio --- full and well stocked kitchen with appliances, dishes etc..

Pamela and Danny got us set up to snorkel with Lil Alphonse which was great and we billed direct to our room. Even able to rent a golf cart at the front desk.

The Phoenix made everything so easy for us, with arranging our travel from BZE and taking care of our needs during our brief but wonderful stay. Thank you all!

Can't say enough good things about the property, the staff and service. Just outstanding! Well suited to families and sitting by the pool. Great on premise restaurant. Very nice location.

It's really the staff who stand out. If you want it, they can do it for you.

We don't even know where to begin this review. First off, we'll start with the resort itself. You literally get what you see in the photos: a beautiful, well-kept piece of heaven! We have to stress that you literally get what you see in the photos, as this can be kind of tricky when planning a vacation online based off of photos. The Phoenix is 5 star all around. The staff are so helpful. Stacey and Mark will help you in any way to arrange your stay and give you any information you want about the island. Stacey did a great job recommending a suite that was roomy and private, since we went along with another couple. There was a lot of space for the 4 of us and the bedrooms were spaced far enough apart. The suite was very clean. The king size beds were very cozy. We slept great every night (stayed 9 nights). We had a huge balcony with the best view in the house! What we loved most about the location of the resort is that it is right in town, but you wouldn't even know it when you are inside the property. It is quiet, peaceful, and right along the beach. It is so close to many restaurants, shops, etc. Originally, we were looking at resorts that were a few miles north of San Pedro, but after our stay we were so glad we booked with the Phoenix. (The Phoenix didn't come up in several of our searches for resorts as it is newer, perhaps out-dated sites for San Pedro tourism?) During our stay we rented a golf cart (right at the Phoenix...so simple!) and drove to the north and south ends of the island and saw several other resorts. We decided it would be a pain in the butt to take the water taxi or rent a golf cart every time we wanted to go into town or to a restaurant that wasn't right on site. We did eat at the Red Ginger that is on site at the Phoenix. Delish! Several great items on the menu. Rolando was a great server in the restaurant and at the pool bar!

We are definitely planning on staying at the Phoenix again. This was our first trip to San Pedro. We specifically chose San Pedro so the boys could do some fly fishing for Tarpon. It was a perfect destination and we couldn't have asked for better. While the boys were out fishing, us girls laid in the sun at the Phoenix (often times right on our balcony), walked around town to shop, have lunch, and just enjoy the scenery and take in the culture. It was a safe place for us to do our thing while the boys were gone. We tried to hit a different restaurant every night, which we recommend because they were all great. Red Ginger as we already mentioned, Blue Water Grill, and Caliente were all delicious and you get 10% off for being a guest of the Phoenix. All of our meals were amazing. I don't think we had one complaint throughout our entire stay...about anything actually! All in all, the Phoenix is the perfect mix for a quiet and relaxing vacation, as well as spontaneous and active. There are several activities to do while there and the Phoenix can book them for you: snorkeling, diving, ziplining, fishing, etc. We booked a Belize Zoo & Ziplining tour. It was a ton of fun and completely hassle free. The Phoenix will do everything for you.

What an amazing experience. The staff were all incredibly friendly and went above and beyond for your needs. They made it incredibly easy to do any activity on the island by taking care of all reservations at the front desk. If you wanted to rent a boat to go diving the next day, talk to the front desk and it was taken care of. Dinner reservations, golf cart rental, cab service, arranging transportation to and from Belize City? Front desk will do it all. They also offer complimentary iPads, cell phones and Kindles for guests during their stay, which was the first I had experienced. The rooms were huge, very very nice and beautifully furnished, and each had an amazing view of the beach/ocean. The hotel is within walking distance from anywhere in San Pedro, so you have access to a ton of bars, restaurants and shopping. The grounds are impeccably manicured and very peaceful. You almost forget you're right in the middle of the town and all the action when you're sitting at the pool or walking around on the grounds. They had a happy hour Friday evening where they offered complimentary wine, beer and rum punch; again, something extra they didn't have to do. The restaurant is great and so is the spa. Overall the Phoenix and its staff is what made the trip so memorable. In fact it was such an amazing experience, we changed our wedding destination from another country to Ambergris Caye at the Phoenix. I can't wait to return!

What a comfortable, spacious, well appointed place! We had a 2 bedroom unit with huge balcony. All balconies are ocean view. The staff is friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant twice and enjoyed the food. The attached Spa is also excellent.
We rented a golf cart at the front desk and explored the island for an afternoon--you can't beat this location if you like to try different restaurants every day. The only appliances we used in the kitchen were the refrigerator and the blender for pina coladas! There is a nice wine shop in town with fairly good selection as well. We used the Los Amigos dive shop just down the beach from the Phoenix. Two thumbs up!
