“Carlos Rocks!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

In our recent stay In San Pedro we had the good fortune of meeting with Carlos of SUYA TOURS who set us up for several really great outings. We started with a snorkeling trip that included a lunch on the beach with fish caught by our guides while we snorkeled! The lunch was truly amazing and as another reviewer mentioned probably one of the best meals we had on our trip. Carlos also set us up with The Lady Leslie for a wonderful sunset catamaran cruise where we had fabulous sushi, conch and other yummy apps as well as a delicious coconut tart dessert...way more than we ever expected and the sunset was breathtaking! We ended with a cave tubing tour with a wonderful guide named Luis who had us eating begonia stems and termites as part of our "survival" training! Overall every tour was truly wonderful and would highly recommend Carlos and Suya tours!

“great snorkeling experiences”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

While staying in San Pedro, our family group of 11 worked with Carlos, of Suya Tours, to arrange 2 fantastic snorkel trips. We were picked up on time at a nearby dock, taken to excellent locations, and led around in the water by Carlos and another Suya guide. Memories, memories!!

“Excellent Experience!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014

We would like to say a big Thank You to Suya Tours for helping to make our recent trip to San Pedro a smashing success! We truly enjoyed all of the trips we took with Suya (Beach BBQ, Lamanai, and 2 trips to Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley)! Carlos and all of the guides were very professional, lots of fun, and extremely knowledgeable about the areas to which we were exposed! You could tell that all of them are very proud of their country and all of its magnificent & beautiful attributes! I fondly refer to Daniel as the “Ray Whisperer” after a ray swam into his arms and contentedly lay there for 5-10 min while we were able to observe it close-up! The fresh lobster, fish, conch, fresh warm tortillas, etc. on the beach BBQ were easily part of the best meal we had on the island! Again, many thanks! We have already referred Suya Tours to people planning a trip to San Pedro!
Hope to see you again soon!

“Great Food, A few problems but handled well”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2014

We booked the Beach BBQ trip with Suya because of favorable reviews on Trip Advisor so I want to share our experience. We were picked up at our condo right on time and traveled to what we were told would be the first snorkeling spot where the crew would also fish for the Beach BBQ. We were told we would be there for about an hour depending on how the fishing went. The day started out beautiful but while we were snorkeling, there were some serious rain clouds building out to sea. Everyone was done snorkeling and back on the boat after about 45-50 minutes. This was not the best snorkeling spot I’ve been at but I understand that the primary purpose was to catch our lunch. After about an hour, the rain started and it was a severe downpour. After waiting in the rain for enough fish/lobster to be caught for lunch, we went to the location of the Beach BBQ and the rain stopped about the time we got there.

The meal was truly excellent – probably the best meal we had during our 8 days in Belize. It doesn’t get much better than fresh fish, lobster, rice & beans, potatoes and slaw – not to mention rum punch and beer.

About the time we finished eating, another squall came in. They told us to wait it out in the little hut. This kept us dry for the most part but we did have to dodge roof leaks and their was a lot of black mold in the building and there was no where anyone really wanted to sit down.

Once the rain stopped, they said we were going to go to Mexico Rocks where the snorkeling was much better. Everyone on the tour said they would really rather just go to shore as we were all extremely cold from the rain and boat ride and any dry clothes we had were soaked.

In talking with other people, we learned that there was a bar at the resort next to the Beach BBQ location but no one from Suya ever told us this. This would have been a much better option for waiting out both the first and second hard rainstorms we encountered but in the first case, we stayed on the boat and in the second we stayed in a hut with no place to sit down.

I did not complain about the rain – I understand that can happen on any tour. What I did complain about was the way the crew handled the rain situation at the time and their not telling us about the bar next door which would have been a way to minimize the impact of the rain. Suya responded very promptly with a thorough explanation of what happened and why they are reluctant to mention the bar next door because of past complaints. They have gone out of their way to address our concerns and I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them myself for future trips.”

“Altun Ha”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2014

We went on trip to Altun Ha with Allan as our guide. He was very informative, showed concern for all and was very knowledgeable on the ruins. He pointed out many interesting facts about numerous areas on our boat ride to the ruins as well on the bus trip also. I could not have asked for a better guide. Allan was the very best. Suya Tours is a superb operation with fabulous people.
