“EXCELLENCE EVERYWHERE”

just back from the Gran Caribe-Ambergris Cay- Belize.(Oct 15-22)
Were there for 1 week...should have booked for longer.
Gran Caribe is a very fine resort, very safe, grounds well kept, plenty pools with swim bar and mostly a wonderful, courteous, kind and smiling front desk staff. You feel like you are at home, relaxing, fun.
The room with full kitchen was very elegantly decorated and perfect for 1 couple; the view from 3rd floor was outstanding, right on the beach.
Water activities are abundant- only did snorkeling: 3 x at Ho Chan/Reef shark alley with Lil Alphonse: the best of them all companies...very passionate....request him for that snorkel trip.
Would recommend Gran Caribe and will go back there again.

Room Tip: Were on the front beach- 3rd floor- A8 and H8....1 bedroom

I've traveled to Belize four times. I discovered Grand Caribe on my third visit and returned there on my fourth. I will stay no where else on the island. The resort is gorgeous, safe, friendly and the rooms are more than accommodating. The bar/restaurant at the resort has great food and other restaurants are a short walk away along the beach. Looking forward to visit number five.

Room Tip: Although they are pricier, I've found that the beach front rooms are well worth the extra money...

My wife and I recently had our wedding here along with 45 of our family members. We are so glad when we were picking a location we decided on this resort. We can’t say enough nice things about the place and staff. From the first email asking about the place to the time we left the island the staff was extremely helpful and quick to respond to our over 100 emails with questions (not sure how they put up with us!) While on the island they were extremely helpful with any question or concern we had. They were also very honest. A few of our guests left a day before us and housekeeping found us to return clothes left behind. We felt very safe with the staff there; I don’t think we locked our door once. The location was great, just 2 miles north of town. Far enough away but just a quick golf cart ride into town. Also, the north side had a variety of very nice restaurants to choose from, we recommend Aji. The pool was great; large enough to handle the entire group without a problem. And the swim up bar is a nice touch. We would recommend trying the shrimp quesadillas. For our wedding day they did such a great job making everything look perfect. We got married down by the ocean, had a cocktail hour on the dock while we were off doing the bride and groom thing…. Pictures. For the reception they closed down the pool for us and set up table’s poolside. It was perfect and couldn’t have hoped for more. The only con we can think of is they sold us 5 gallon jugs of water but did not have a dispenser like other places we have stayed at. Not quite the end of the world but just a slight inconvenience to have to pick up the 5 gallon jug and pour out of it for some of our older guests. A few tips from our experience would be: if you want a room on the ground floor ask for one that has a patio with steps. (Views are great from any room by the way) This way you can walk off your patio to the pool vs. walking around the building. Bring a large cup for each guest. Depending on the condo you end up in the cups are fairly small. We like to make a drink and go sit by the pool which doesn’t work well with a small cup. Bring Deep Woods Off! 99% of the time there is a breeze and mosquitos are not an issue. But during the 1% time you will wish you had some. Mosquitos are a problem anywhere on the island, north or south so just come prepared and no worries. The island is not very developed with mostly dirt roads. Its part of the charm that we love about the island, but just get ready for a bumpy ride. So to sum up everything, we wouldn’t think twice about staying here again. The resort and staff exceeded our every expectation. If you are looking at a destination wedding just stop and book now.

Stunning scenery and beautiful surroundings. Everyone was very friendly. Was pricey, but it felt safe and was very clean. If there was an issue, it would be corrected fairly quickly. Will definitely go back again.

Amazing resort!!! This trip was our family summer vacation during mid August and it totally exceeded our expectations. The weather was great and we couldn't have asked for a better time to visit Belize & Grand Caribe. The 2 BR condo was spacious and very comfy. We felt right at home during our trip. The daily housekeeping service was a plus and they even washed our clothes so knowing this we would have probably packed less. It was nice to have Wifi in our room and at the bar/pool area to post pics to all our family & friends at home in the states. The views from our room and all around the resort are amazing of the ocean. Grand Caribe is a short distance from downtown San Pedro so we enjoyed hopping on the golf cart and riding to town. Pls note the roads to downtown are dirt and not paved...so bumpy at times. I think this added so much character to our experience which allowed us to get away from the hustle and bustle of the traffic & cars at home. Ingrid at the pool bar/restaurant took great care of us along with all the other staff members. Everyone is so friendly all over Belize. It was nice to be able to sit on the beach and not be approached by everyone selling items. They respected your time and allowed you to pass if you choose not to buy anything. I felt this was one of the top reasons we will back as compared to other Caribbean islands. The restaurants in town and around the resort are all great. We never had a bad experience at any place we visited.

We would definitely stay here again without a doubt.

Amazing resort. This was a family trip for 7 nights. Stayed in a ground floor unit rented from a private couple - 2 bedroom 2 bath. Very spacious, clean, with a washer and dryer in the unit, full kitchen with upgraded appliances, spacious bathrooms, free wifi, cable, everything you could ask for. You can catch the water taxi from the pier on premises and even fish for snapper and other sea creatures right off the pier as well.
Restaurant on premises is great - great drinks and the best lobster cevice on the island!
Definitely consider renting a golf cart - the cab fare to and from San Pedro is $20US one way. The road from San Pedro to the resort is a back road, extremely unpaved so be prepared for a very bumpy ride.
Aji restaurant is within walking distance and is very good.
Would stay there again without second thoughts!

Just spent a great week at the Grand Caribe Resort located about 1.5 miles north of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Our 2 bedroom condo was ridiculously spacious and new with every amenity, was well stocked with every spice you could ever imagine. Daily housekeeping service was top notch and the girls even cheerfully hand washed some of our clothes. The only thing I might suggest is that they invest in some blackout curtains for the bedrooms. The sun comes up at 5:30 am and it would have been nice to have a little more darkness. Noise was never an issue. Every condo has an ocean view and the pool is spectacular with swim up bar/restaurant. There are also very nice beach lounges with umbrellas set up under the palms. Security is very good here, even though we haven't felt unsafe at any time, even when away from resort. Kayaks and bicycles were available to use, but I'd definitely recommend renting a golf cart for the time you are here. Kids caught plenty of fish off the peer.

Yesterday we went offshore fishing with Captain Rudy Lewis (KingRudy5@gmail.com) on Strike Force Belize 29'. To protect the reefs, these boats are only allowed to draw 3' of water and Rudy's boat was the widest around so it felt very stable even though at times seas were rough. Rudy and his mate, Victor, knew all the best spots and we were able to catch wahoo, blackfin tuna, huge barracuda (which the locals gladly took off our hands) and nice sized bonita. They also taught us a lot about the area. All this in only 3 hours! Afterwards, Hugo, the chef and owner of the Aji Tapa Bar and Restaurant down the street, prepared our fish 4 different ways for a wonderful white tablecloth dining experience under palm trees right on the beach. Chef Hugo can be seen purchasing only the freshest seafood right off the boats when they come in every afternoon so you know you are getting the best! For snorkeling, there is none other than Lil Alphonse Tours for sure! Lil Alphonse (who is not so little) gives Steve Irwin a run for his money in the contagious enthusiasm department and his love and respect for the reef environment are obvious. While other dive groups were swimming around their boat aimlessly, watching their captain smoke cigarettes, Alphonse had our group organized, in the water , and he was whispering up sharks, rays, and even showed folks how to hold a shark and pet a ray. Other groups were staring in disbelief at the fish he had called up by revving his motor a certain way. We saw several sea turtles, a manatee, tons of fish, and of course sharks and rays. We will go with him to dive Mexico Rocks for sure. Definitely wish we had purchased a digital waterproof camera before we came!

Dinner at Blue Water Grill was great! We recommend you make a reservation and they will tell you what time is best to get in ahead of any huge tables they might have coming.

The folks at the front desk have been very helpful and assisted us with all our bookings. Went snorkeling at All in all, it has been a great trip. We highly recommend this place and the wonderful hospitality of the Belizians.

Room Tip: We were in E3, which was centrally located and had a wonderful beach view. It was on ground floor...
