Beautiful property. Extremely clean and well kept. The wedding staff was AMAZING. Everything went off without a hitch. Great attention to detail. It will be even nicer when they have a better restaurant available onsite. The poolside eatery and bar were very nice just not much choice in food options....but the mudslides were outstanding! Just a short walk on the beach to Aji Tapas Bar where we had excellent meals as well as an outstanding rehearsal dinner. Pools very very nice. Property is family friendly. Only a few things I would like to see. As one person said perhaps a pass to go back and forth into town on the golf cart and would like to see some hobie cats added to their water toys. Other than that we all had an amazing time and would like to go back again next year. Would definately recommend as a destination wedding location!

The Grand Caribe Belize Resort and Condominiums are located just on the inside of being too far outside of town (San Pedro). The units are complete with modern convinces and a great view on the turquoise Caribbean Ocean. The pool areas are very nice. The onsite pool bar and grill has good food higher then needed pricing with an island paced staff. Swimming in the ocean is not practical at the GC the beach area is about 120’ by 40’ but the water depth is less that 30” and full of sea grass from shore out to 75” from shore. At that point there is a water highway of sorts were the local water taxis and boat traffic move consistently throughout the day. There are known option for a traveler to get groceries or any other for gotten item without going to town 10 to 15 minutes by golf cart plus $5us for the toll over the bridge or cab service $15us one way. We had a very relaxing stay but felt it lacking in evening options.

The condos are perfect. Very modern and comfortable. Daily maid and laundry service. Nice pools. But you need to know that other than the pool bar, there are no other goods avail on site. No sunscreen, no snorkel gear, no sun hats, nothing that the traveller may need in a pinch. Even bottled water was difficult. Any goods you forget to bring require a trip to town. Not terribly far, but not walkable. Requires renting a golf cart. The pool bar is the only place to get food and drink, and seems to be run by a separate entity. Pool bar staff is competent and friendly, but front desk and concierge staff are in serious need of hospitality skills. Rude at times, but mostly incompetent. We asked the concierge at 8am if there was any way to plan a last minute excursion to the mainland, and were told no. We called an outfitter in town, and were on our way in less than an hour. We asked the concierge to book dinner reservations at a restaurant we found on Trip Advisor with 300+ reviews, and she had never heard of it. Basically, a very nice home base as long as you know what you are getting, and bring everything you need.

Let me start by saying this is no reflection of the owner of the condo we stayed in, as the place was absolutely beautiful, and well kept.

The good:
The resort is a beautiful place. It is well kept and clean. Staff is friendly. Air conditioning always worked. Wifi worked outside and in the room. Staff did the "best they were trained how to do."

Needed improvement/suggestions:

Grocery plan: Don't order it. We ordered the grocery plan on the first day. It took two days to get to our room and when it finally arrived, only a portion of the groceries showed up. We were still charge over $150 US for what we got. ...and when you are delivered things like cream cheese with no bagels or nothing else to spread it on, who would want to pay for it? But we did. We never got basic things like bottled water, the wine etc. We also met others who never got their groceries, so we know it wasn't just us.

That darn toll bridge! We traveled in town quite a bit, and also ventured down the beach and walked to different resorts. I can't believe the resort doesn't offer a few free trips into town. Even if you rent a golf cart, plan on paying the fee to cross the bridge! Every time we turned around, we were dropping another $20US to get somewhere. We stayed at Matachica last year, and at least they have a boat who conveniently takes you into town at a few times a day for free! We also met people from other resorts who rented golf carts. They were given a "pass" of sorts when they rented the golf cart, so they didn't have to pay the toll fee. The golf rental fees are very expensive. Down at Athens Gate (other end of the island), the weekly golf rental is only $125!

Excursions: Don't book from the resort. We found out easily they are marked up almost double in some areas.

Management/Going "above and beyond":
While we totally agree the staff was friendly, I just felt like something isn't clicking here. This place could be SO MUCH MORE! We ordered a cake for two of us who were celebrating birthdays. We asked for it on a Thursday. Upon getting to the room at 5pm, and seeing it still wasn't there, we asked about it and it came about an hour later. When it arrived, unfortunately... it pretty much went into the trash. It was one of the worst foods we ate the whole time we were there. We didn't complain, and paid the US $20. I just don't understand.. if they don't have the kitchen to do it, contract with a restaurant nearby?

Food: The food at the swim up bar is all fried. If your stomach is sensitive, go elsewhere, because it's not the best. The drinks are good. Staff is friendly, but not a good place to eat. Drinks are expensive, but they need to make money, I understand that.

I'm just not sure what's going on... a lot of the condos are currently for sale and I can see this place going down in reviews if a few things are not changed. They just need to work on a more fine-tuned, above the average service and hospitality to match the wonderful atmosphere.

This was the best trip ever! The resort was picture perfect! and the People there were the best of anywhere! Definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place to go. Not too far from San Pedro or any other cool places on the island. I definitely recommend the Lazy Crock BBQ place just next door to this resort! Great food with a twist!

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent!
