“So perfect, it was like something from a dream!”

The Villas at Banyan Bay is the most perfect resort I have ever visited. We hosted my daughters wedding ceremony and reception dinner there and our whole extended family enjoyed the accomodations of their two and three bedroom suites. The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. I can't even describe how wonderful their chef is, and the on-site dive shop met all of our fishing, boating, and snorkeling needs with customized charters and discount prices. It was the perfect time of year to visit Belize and Banyan Bay!

My family and I stay at BBV and loved our stay. The villas was nice and well equipe, only thing missing were a few glasses, but no bother. The A/C work wonderful for it was really hot outside, wasnt much breeze blowing those few days. The twins bed were perfect for the kids and the king size bed what can I say, spacious! Hot water running perfect after a long day. The pool was amazing and warm and the kids loved it. Our villas was clean on time and our cleaner was very nice and courteous. Our remote was not working on our arrival and call the front desk and help was sent and remote was replace right away. The ladies at the front desk were nice and courteous. Cant say much about the restaurant never had a chance to dine, love to dine out of the hotel. Great experience exploring. Guys at Caramba's were great and so was the food. If you ever need to rent golf carts, best price on the island is Island Adventures cant go wrong. Dont forget to try the belikin beer it is to die for, so great when it is cold. There was the celebration's going on and it was lots of fun for the entire family. Overall San Pedro is a nice little island and lots of things to do and explore. Thanks to Franco was at our every need, ask for Franco whenever your making your reservations. Great resort and gorgoeus grounds.

My husband and I got married at Banyan Bay and we loved it. Laura the manager was so wonderful! We were worried before we got there and when we arrived everything was perfect. Our guests still talk about how wonderful it was. I would highly recommend getting married on the pier, it was fantastic. We had guests from every where and everyone found it perfect for location and privacy. We even had kids who LOVED the pool! It is perfect for kids under 5.

Thank you!

We arrived on Aug. 1st and were picked up by Edvin at the airport. Great impression right from the start. We were given room H2 to begin with, unfortunately there was an ant problem in that room but we were moved right away to G4. We wanted a unit with twin beds but when we saw G4 and Ana told us that we could bring in a roll away, we were so happy. G4 was perfect for us. We have a 15 yr old boy and 11 yr old girl and we all had such a good time! Trips planned with Eli at Bottom Time (2 snorkeling trips and two diving trips) were wonderful. The food and atmosphere at Rico's was our favorite. Loved the pool, the beach, the kids and my husband jumped off the pier next door and had a blast. All the staff was wonderful. Rented a golf cart one day and went through town and out to Palapas Bar, what a beautiful place! Ate at Elvi's for lunch one day, the frozen key lime pie really is yummy! Also, coconut ice cream at Manelly's to die for. Our snorkeling guides on the last trip, Nito (Toriano) and Cha Cha (David) were wonderful. David got us 4 lobsters to have with our fish/chicken lunch grilled on the beach, what a treat. Okay, I could go on and on but I would highly recommend Vallas at Bayan Bay, they exceeded our expectations.

We came to Ambergris Caye for our 3rd trip to iron out our wedding plans (engaged here a year ago). Love it!
After a hour + meeting with the Hotel Manager we felt great and stayed an extra night just to check out this hotel/finalize the details - glad we did. Note: never stayed here!
We were rudely greeted by Hotel Room Manager and Desk Assistant upon check-in. We got to our room and the AC did not work for our whole stay (temp went from 90 when we arrived to 82 when we left), we wanted to eat dinner outside on the patio overlooking the pool/ocean and the light did not work, nor did the one inside near the door, there was hardly any water presure in the showers, our phone did not work, so had to go through front desk for local calls, and more importantly the whirlpool /spa did not work at all - no water.
We still have not got quotes from the Hotel Manager (promised that day or soon there after - almost 2 weeks now with no reply) on proposed wedding and never called or was available during our stay. When we checked out - not even how was your stay - just your taxi will be here soon - same inappropriate .... as when we checked in.
I would think that if we was going to spend money on a wedding - they would treat the guests with respect. Not the case here. Although the room they showed us on the initial tour was nicer - I would not recommend this place to anyone for the money and service you receive.
Unfortunatly this is the first bad review I have placed on TA - and the first we have placed regarding Ambergris Caye, San Pedro or Belize in general.
We have found a much better place for our wedding!
We heard some other dirt on this hotel as well when we were there by numourous local sources, so be aware before booking anything.

The 'room' we had at Banyan Bay was larger than many of our friends' homes. The kids had their own bedroom (very important with teenagers). Albert was especially helpful when we changed rooms on check-in to get one with separate beds for the kids. The grounds are well maintained and the beach is gorgeous. The restaurant was priced comparably to other places on the island and served wonderful (virgin) drinks and food. The walk into town is a bit daunting in the heat, but a taxi is only $5 and, if you're diving, the tours pick you up at the dock on site.

Besides being shaken out of bed on the very first night by an earthquake, we spent a relaxing week at Banyan Bay. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff wonderful and the view is hard to beat. And those towels - softest, fluffiest, sweetest smelling towels we've ever had in any hotel. You will love that part. Unfortunately, I think we were given the exact condo that someone complained about earlier. The furniture was really old and breaking down and extremely uncomfortable. The mattress on the futon kept sliding off onto the floor whenever we sat on it. The mattresses on the beds were okay - not pillow-tops in this unit. One shower did not work at all and several light bulbs were out, however maintenance took care of those problems immediately. Considering this was a dive vacation and we are used to some rather spare accommodations, this was pretty nice. And Eli in the dive shop was amazing. We booked several dives and received very professional and personal service. Also booked a trip to Lamanai through SeaDuced. That was incredible. What we liked about that trip may be off-putting to some. It took a total of 9 hours of travel for a two hour tour of the ruins. But we loved the trip there and back. It starts by boat from Ambergris Caye across the Caribbean to a narrow inland river on the mainland surrounded by mangroves and hundreds of birds to a wee village called Bomba full of friendly people. There, we boarded a school bus for a very bouncy, dusty ride along the Pan-American highway, stopping at a cashew stand for freshly roasted nuts and picking up a hitch-hiker on our way to a boat landing on the New River. There we joined another small group of people and motored down this beautiful inland river for about 25 miles to Lamanai. There, we were served an incredible meal of stewed chicken and rice with sides made by a local woman and served from tupperware - a lovely picnic. The ruins are amazing. You walk down winding jungle paths where howler monkeys leap from limb to limb and toucans add a bright splash to the foliage. We climbed one ruin for a magnificent view of the river and surrounding jungle. The climb is not for those wary of heights! And getting down is much more difficult than going up. The tour guides were passionate about there country and we had an amazing time. And though it was hot, we never ran out of beverages as they brought two large coolers full for just a few people! All in all, our trip to Belize was wonderful. We plan to return to Banyan Bay Villas but will definitely ask for a nicer unit the next time. The locals are wonderful. Cabs into town are inexpensive and fun if you don't mind climbing in with the driver's family. We thought that was great. The food is amazing. Try Elvi's Kitchen first and make sure you have the frozen key lime pie for dessert. Wild Mango and Blue Water Grill were also favorites. Blue Water has awesome sushi specials. nRico's was pricy and not as good as the restaurants in town. We went to the local grocery store for breakfast and lunch items - the selection is limited but not expensive. There is a larger grocery store closer to town if you want more choices. Hope this helps anyone planning a trip to Ambergris Caye. Enjoy!
