The Lodge: Clean, comfortable and very well run. The Owners, the manager and the staff are all top notch and will work hard to make your stay enjoyable. Its one of the main reasons I return with friends and family. This is important if you have travelled abroad to fly fishing lodges, not all are the same in this regard. All transfers, meals and lodging requests have always been smooth and enjoyable. There is a variety of rooms, villas and pools on site from a basic room to very nice stand alone villas for family's.
The Food: All meals were good (as usual), freshly prepared. Fish, beef, lobster, chicken etc.... Lots to choose from. Boat lunches are particulary well done especially when compared to other lodges. No more soggy sandwiches! Plenty of variety and great portions. My dad will testify if need be!
The Fishing: If you are a novice or you are looking to get a slam, You'll be well served to consider this lodge. There are solid populations of Permit, Tarpon and bonefish giving you a shot at the slam any time of year. The permit fishing is what brings me back because they are the toughest of the three. My friend is new to flats fishing with a fly rod and had legitimate shots at all three species even with some spotty weather. Tarpon can run very big depending on the time of year but resident fish provide opportunity year round. The bonefish run small (don't expect fish bigger than a couple pounds) but are plentiful and provide action when weather or other species are tough. Summary: we had shots at Permit, Tarpon, bonefish, jacks and Snook. Landing permit and bones and jacks, cuda and snapper.
Lastly, this is a good choice for famlies or hardcore fisherman. The lodge can keep the kids happy, there is alot of activities in Belize and the lodge staff will set it up for you. The Pools and grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Staff is awesome. They work hard to provide a good experience. Let them know what your looking to do, fishing or otherwise and they can set it up. Fishing for these fish can be tough, and you should know that you still gotta make the cast to have a chance. I like my chances at El Pescador.

- El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike.
