We spent time at the Victoria House in 2004 and 2005 and were ready to return. It was just as beautiful as it was before...with the addition of the new pool and villas!! Our room was Casita #1. We had stayed there for a night or two in 2005, but it would not have been our first choice for a casita this trip only because it is so close to the main pool and Palmilla and the resort was at full capacity. However, we did not have any complaints! The noise factor was not an issue at all; in fact, since we enjoy sitting by the main pool, it was the most convenient location if you needed something from the room! As before, the room was always well maintained! We received soap, towels, and other items each day or as needed.

The staff is amazing! No matter what he or she is there to do for the day, everyone always smiles and says hello or good morning or good night! From Marlin (who helped us to our room), to the dive shop to Roxy (who was always willing to take our order for drinks and snacks) to the wait staff to the bartenders to the gentlemen cleaning the beach to the ladies who cleaned our room, we did not encounter one person that did not make us feel welcome and relaxed.

The food was delicious! We both agreed that the food this trip was even better than it was in 2004 and 2005. We only ate lunch by the pool twice and dinner at Palmilla twice, but we could have eaten there many other times as there were several items on the menu that we wanted to try! (The grouper at Palmilla was really good!) We were fortunate that our trip began just before lobster season ended, so we had lobster everything for the first couple of days, including lobster ceviche, lobster tacos, and lobster quesadillas (all were great!).

Our previous stays were both in August, so we were concerned about the number of people that might be around since the VH was at full capacity. However, with the infinity pool and all of the excursions that people choose to do, we did not even notice a difference in the number of people.

We, once again, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the VH! We have already begun planning our trip to Belize next year, and even though we plan to visit new places (Placencia or Roatan maybe) we will certainly spend several days back at the Victoria House! Thanks to everyone for another great stay!

We went here on our honeymoon and it's wonderful. the first day we arrived we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Very friendly, accommodating staff, excellent food and awesome service. There's plenty to do as far as excursion options if you want to get off the resort, or the two pools were always pretty much empty so it is a great place to relax and unwind. There weren't any kids there the entire week, which was nice, but I think kids are welcome.

the scuba diving is amazing - highly recommend!

we will be going back to Belize at some point - we love this place!

Room Tip: plantation rooms are nice and roomy and most have a pool or ocean view. Casitas are the most expensi...

This resort looks like the nicest place on the island. The resort is very well kept. The beach area is absolutely beautiful and they work very hard to keep it that way. Our Plantation room was very clean and nice. All the buildings, landscaping, pools, beach were in top notch shape. There are a variety of buildings which gives the place real character. The employees work really hard to please the guests and they are really friendly. The light breakfast that is included in the room price was very nice with juice, coffee/tea, fruit and toast or muffins. The food in the bar was also good. We ate in town most evenings, but we we had a few lunches and a dinner or two in the bar. We ate at Hidden Treasure one evening. It had a nice atmosphere and the food was good. The owner will come and pick you up. It is just a few minutes from the hotel. The guys at the Victoria House dive/snorkel shop were very helpful. We snorkeled several places. We took a 1/2 day catamaran tour one day with El Gato Tours. It was just us and one other couple from the hotel. The two guys who ran the boat were really nice and the one guy snorkled with us to make sure we saw the good sights of the reefs and the best places to see all the fish.

Do take your Deet with you. I was covered with either mosquito or sand flea bites and I saw so many people at the resort who had their legs covered with bites.

Easy to walk to town, ride bikes or rent a golf cart. Taxi ride is US $5.

The only negatives were that you really couldn't swim in front of the resort due to all the sea grass growing. But, there are two beautiful pools. Also, we would have enjoyed having a TV in our room. Granted we weren't in the room much, but we enjoy a TV late at night and early in the morning. Nothing to do with the Victoria House, but there was alot of trash on the beach on the private property on both sides of the resort that the owners don't clean up. There is also quite a bit of trash on private property as you walk to town. It is really nasty.

Wonderful small resort. Truly enjoyed it.

We are just now here at Victoria House. Arrived early this morning with three of our kids and where informed that we got an upgrade from a "ordinary" room to a villa with living room and our own pool, just more or less in front of the beach. What an upgrade! The people here are so friendly. It's one of the best places we've ever been. Normally hotels look on the internet better than they are, but here you would never expect that it is so wonderful.

Our four nights' stay at Victoria House (after three great days in Belize Cayo District) was the perfect close to a wonderful trip. How was your stay, a Victoria House email just inquired. I can't think of a single disappointment in recalling its beautiful, palm-shaded vista on the Caribbean; our delightful and comfortable room; the consistently excellent dinners (the Molten-Chocolate dessert is a sinful "must"); the excellent, but also exceptionally friendly service; and the exquisite attention to detail. Ambergris Caye IS very built up, its downtown is crowded and dusty; but Victoria House is its own special oasis, and a spot from which to board a craft for snorkeling (magnificent!); fishing (great!); and any number of sightseeing trips or activities.

My husband and I stayed at the Victoria House while on our honeymoon. Our experience there was absolutely wonderful. The staff was kind and helpful. Eating at the resort was quite expensive, and we went into town as much as possible for lunch and dinner. The staff really helped us in choosing different places to eat. I really recommend eating in town as much as possible. The resort food is good, but town offers more local fare. The place is quiet, and not very crowded. We stayed there after they had just reopened from renovations, and not all the rooms were reopened. From our room you could see the ocean. It was such a wonderful view to wake up to every day! Except for the food being expensive, we had no complaints with the place.

Room Tip: Our room had a vaulted ceiling, so there was not a lot of privacy when one needed to use the bathroo...
