“Best Vacation Ever!”
Reviewed 13 November 2012

My cousin works for the resort here in the states and several of my family has been and loved it. I had to check it out. We loved Ramon's and it's staff!! We took the water taxi over from Belize City and Ramon's came to town to pick us up. Everyone on property was very friendly and accommodating; especially Jack, a great waiter who always calls you by name whenever he sees you. Ramon wanders around and speaks to everyone, regaling you with amazing stories of all his adventures. The rooms are not 5 star quality compared to New York hotels but I would say probably the best property on San Pedro and Belize as a whole. They were always clean and had everything we needed (no TV was great for a change). The dive shop staff and all tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The food was great and the bar was even better. If I had to find one negative about the resort it's that you have to pay separate for your bar bill and food bill since they are each operated by different owners than the resort itself. I've never been anywhere in the world where everyone I met, staff and locals alike, were so friendly. We made several new friends of other folks staying on property. Great people from all over the country. I truly could move to Ambergris Caye. We met the resort owner and his wife while there and I can honestly say they are the friendliest and most down to earth people and truly care about your experience. If you want a wonderful Central American experience, go to San Pedro and stay at Ramon's! Everything is top notch!!

Room Tip: Request a beachfront room for the most amazing view each morning.

We called Ramon's late one night (as the hotel we were staying at was rather gross and after seeing cockroaches running around decided to leave), and the reception desk was just about to close. They stayed open to wait for us to arrive. The staff were very friendly throughout our stay - one of the restaurant servers even offered to take photos of my husband and I in the pool!

The grounds at Ramon's are absolutely beautiful! The restaurant and pool are both facing the ocean. This was probably the nicest place I've ever stayed it and would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Ambergris Caye.

The rooms are beautiful and immaculate. However, no TVs in the room so you can focus on relaxing and enjoying time with your loved ones (I liked that there were no TVs, but my husband did not). Rooms are also equipped with a coffee maker, mini fridge, and robes. I was most impressed that the floral border around the room was hand painted on and not wallpaper! It was very romantic!

The dock is a great place to swim from and there is a dive shop located here as well.

Room Tip: You pay more for an ocean view - we didn't, but I think it would be worth it!

My wife and I stayed at Romon's in March 2012. We found it to be a great location, within a short walk (via road or beach) to town, and all of the numerous restaurants there.
The restaurant at the hotel also had good food - we recommend the fish and chips (fried FRESH red snapper) it was our favorite lunchtime meal at the hotel. We stayed in two different rooms, both very clean and pleasant. If you don't have an ocean view it's only a very short walk. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. There were a couple of days that were exceptionally windy, and seaweed on the beach was a challenge for the hotel staff. But they cleaned it up first thing every day. The sfaff does not fawn over you, but they were all friendly and accomodating. We'd be grateful to have the chance to stay here again.

The staff is the best, from the time you are picked up at the airport by Francis or Joe to the day you leave you are treated like family, the bartender's, wait staff, housekeepers, groundsmen are all fantastic, while there have a groundskeep cut you a coconut and take it to Alex and have him make you a Wilson, LOL so good. We go twice a year and always stay at Ramons, in the honeymoon suite, right on the ocean. Great Food and fun.Ramon is always there to meet and greet he is a wonderful man and has some great stories about San Pedro.

Room Tip: Room 1 the best on property

Spent 4 nights at Ramon's in October 2012. We started off in a garden view cabana. It was small and very dark inside due to the fact that the side windows were butted up to the cabanas beside us. The first evening our neighbor, who had one of the few televisions on the property had the tv on loud enough that we could tell what he was watching. We asked to be moved since the property was only about 30% full. We were moved to a sea view cabana in a 2 story building that was empty. It was nice and quiet. The interiors of the rooms are out of date and due for updates. Screens on the windows would be nice so that you could open the windows rather than running the air conditioning incessantly. Ramon's does a great job with the property itself. The location is great. It is on the edge of town, close enough to walk to all restaurants, boats, etc. It is tucked away so that once you are on the property, you forget that the craziness of San Pedro is just outside. The beach area, pool, and restaurant are all super clean and well cared for. Even the outside of the cabanas looked great. The inside of them need some TLC. Ramon's did look like the nicest property on the island. Be sure to snorkel and/or dive. The excursions are great and the guys that take you out are so nice and know a ton of information about the marine life.

We stayed in the Honeymoon Cabin that is right on the beach for three nights. There is nothing special about the room. The bed is not comfortable and the mattress felt old. Ramon's provides filtered water in a thermos type of container, and the water does not taste very good. As other reviewers wrote, there is a fridge in the room, but it didn't work very well. The shower was terrible - it was dark and there was no water pressure, and the water sprayed in every direction. The food at the restaurant was mediocre, and had I known beforehand, I would not have not gotten the prepaid breakfast and dinner option (I would recommend a small local restaurant called El Fogon that serves traditional Belizean food). The service was really good though, and the only redeeming factor, as the staff were friendly, attentive and quick with serving the food. We also did a catamaran snorkeling tour on Seaduced, and that was really fun. The location is good as you can easily walk around San Pedro. Lastly, there was a smell in the air and in the cabin. We found out later from Ramon that the smell outside came from the resort spraying for bugs.
