I had read all of the reviews on Ramon's and was a little concerned going into the trip. First of all, the rooms are immaculate, the service is top notch, the people at Ramon's and well as the Belizian people are extremely friendly. Ramon's is convenient to EVERYTHING! The airport is a 3 minute walk, 2 minute walk to the supermarket and Beliken beer distributor, (get your beer here it's much cheaper) and 5 minute walk to all restaurants in San Pedro.
Our first room was garden view, our AC wasn't working properly so they upgraded us to a beach view room that was much bigger and had the fridge included. The staff was very apologetic and accomodating. The food at Ramon's was good but a little pricey. We met the owner who called us by name everytime we ran into him.
Ramon's rakes the sea grass off the beach twice daily; and the water is unbelievably blue and clear. The pool is small but well manicured. The beach side hammocks under a thatch roof palapa was a nice touch. One night we even slept out there for a couple of hours.
Many reviews stated that the airport noise was awful. This just is not true. Don't let that stop you from chosing Ramon's.
The down side. The island is hot and you will need bug spray. (The mosquitos are worse in the morning and afternoon.) The AC at any place on the island is not what it is in the U.S. It just never seems to be cold. Also the water pressure is poor and the temp varies greatly during your shower. the drinks aren't very cold but if you ask for extra ice the waiters are very accomodating. (Ramon's will fill your cooler with ice at the pool bar anytime you want it.) The locals are constantly trying to sell their stuff to you but if you say "no thanks" they are polite and leave you alone.
I suggest going during early June. It is the beginning of hurricane season and the rainy season but typically the rain hasn't started yet. Also the island, restaurants, resorts aren't as crowded.
Make sure you take the snorkel trip from Ramon's dive shop to the Reef and Shark ray alley. It was amazing! Sharks every where and rays with a 4 foot span. We were able to touch both.
Food suggestions: blue water grill, carambas, EL Patio, Playa (beach bar near ramon's), sunset grill, mangos

Me and a friend of mine stayed at Ramon's Village for 8 days and loved it. Having never been to San Pedro and Ambergris Caye before, we were really rolling the dice, just going on by what they said on their website. Unlike other places I've stayed at, the property actually looks like the pictures shown on the website. It is literally less than a 5 minute walk from the San Pedro airstrip, but they're more than willing to come by and pick you up if need be. We stayed in one of the garden view cabanas and were pretty impressed. Like some of the other reviews here mentioned, it can get ackward when going to the bathroom as the walls of the bathroom don't go all the way up to the palapa roofs. The restaurant has good food and quite a selection to their menu. Oddly enough, this was the only place on the island where everything was charged in USD. Their prices were in line with those of other places, but you could get cheaper meals elsewhere if you wander around town. There was no TV in the room, but that was okay as we didn't go down there to watch TV. If you're a diver, the dive shop is top notch. They offered 3 dive times daily, (9, 11 and 2) with very relaxed scheduling. If you want to go diving at 9, just show up 20-30 minutes prior. If you decide to go on later trips, just show up later. No leaving your name or making reservations. Unlike in the US, if you do a two tank dive the divemaster even switches all your gear to the new tanks for you.

Ramon's also had one of the best strips of beach on the island too. Sea grass is pretty abundant on the island and most of it ends up washing up on all the beaches. They have someone rake and dispose of this twice daily.

I didn't really have a problem with the noise that everyone was talking about. I did hear the occassion plane taking off from the air strip across the street, but it wasn't anything that'll keep you up all night.

If you're looking for a quaint, well maintained resort, that'll really give you the island feel, then Ramon's Village fits the bill. If you're the type that only stays in 5 star type resorts, look elsewhere.

We just returned from a stay at Ramon's on Ambergris Caye, Belize. We knew this was a famous resort for the area and now we see why. The style of the entire place is in keeping with where you are - on a tropical island. No, you won't mistake it for being in Las Vegas, but that is a very good thing!

We were welcomed warmly & taken to our cute room. The thatch roof had me a little concerned that I would be allergic to it, but didn't sneeze once! The rooms are cute and pretty well laid out. The showers seem to have problems sometimes, but they are able to take care of that. The beds were comfy & towels fluffy, which I loved. They maintain the lush landscaping to keep that beach feel. Walking everywhere on white sand was neat and I was impressed with how clean the sand was all over the resort.
Meals were all so good and the wait staff was so friendly. They quickly knew who we were & our room number, so we felt taken care of, that's for sure.

One night we left our key in our door's lock and since we weren't bothered at all by anyone, felt like the security is quite tight at Ramon's. The security guard who constantly roams the place ran a pretty tight ship!

Renting a little golf cart is the way to go to explore the town of San Pedro. However, with their convenient location, you can just walk up and down the beach to many other restaurants, shopping areas and marinas. The marina at Ramon's is very big and well stocked with boats of all kinds for whatever you would like to do. The snorkeling is very good there as well as fishing. While snorkeling, we saw much larger fish than in other locations and more varieties of coral than in Mexico, for instance.

I recommend wearing a dive skin when snorkeling, since that cuts down on having to use sunscreen. Sunscreens can be very damaging to the reef, so do your part by using a dive skin! That also protects you from any scrapes on rocks or things like little jelly fish larvae.

We were very impressed with Belize and loved Ramon's. If you get to meet either Ramon or the owner, Richard, you will be blessed. They are a great team, so it is no wonder the place has such a special feel. Most staff has been there for many years & works quite well together. You will be treated well when staff is treated well.

I hope you will visit Ramon's Village and have a great relaxing visit like we did!

I went with several girlfriends to Ramon's and we had a great time. We stayed in a garden view hut and it was so cute with the palapa roof and surrounding gardens. Our hut was not located right by the road so noise was not a problem. The pool is great and we spent a lot of time there. There are nice lounge chairs and hammocks on the beach. The vendors were not a huge problem--if you told them "no thanks" they would go away. There is also a security guard by the pool that made us feel safer. All of the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The location is great, everything is in walking distance. They also provide airport transfers. Overall, the atmosphere and quality of Ramon's is great!

We stayed for 7 days and enjoyed the staff, grounds, rooms, easy access to town. They picked us up from the airport, made sure our accomadations were what we expected and were very friendly. The best place to go (real close) is Lime's (an English bar right across the street from the airport), free internet with a beverage, and great people. This is a short distance (beach side and walk the street) from Ramon's. The dive master is great - very experienced and the beach outside the resort is very clean and relaxing. Not many street peddlars, as they have a guard at the resort. Definite place to stay.

Beautiful hotel. I stayed here with my wife for 8 days and had the greatest time. The staff was always incredibly helpful. One of the best locations in San Pedro. Anything you want to do/ rent is right there. I will surely be returning there as soon as I can.
