We stayed in Room 4 (a Pelican Perch) for one week and had a wonderful time! Javier picked us up at the airport and gave us a little tour of the area, then turned into the drive to the hotel which is lush with trees and beautiful flowers. The view from our balcony is BEAUTIFUL!! We ate breakfast each morning at the tiki bar (a cinnamon roll, 2 slices each of pineapple and watermelon, orange juice and coffee) and shared stories with the other guests. The hotel also has a little pool and 2 outdoor hot tubs. The staff is very friendly, especially the guys working at the tiki bar! Luis makes wonderful rum drinks!! Our room was great for our group of 6. It had a kitchen, sofa, chair, table and chairs downstairs, along with a bedroom, closet and bath. Upstairs in the loft was a queen size bed and 2 twins, along with a closet and another full bath. It is not a luxury hotel, but is very clean and comfortable. The free wi-fi was great and seemed to work best out on the balcony and at the tiki bar. There was also a small television in the room. The hotel is in a nice location, about a 15 minute walk along the beach from town. There are many good restaurants within walking distance. If you happen to go fishing, I highly recommend Ricos to cook your fish for you! They have bicycles to use during the daytime. Beach towels are also provided. If I ever go back to Ambergris Caye I will stay at Caribbean Villas!

I can't say enough good about Caribbean Villas. I don't ever remember staff so friendly and me actually remembering staff names - Javier and Rene stand out and the woman who serves the continental breakfast were all great.

All the Ambergris Caye beaches we found were a little disappointing - a lot of sea grass in the water - It seemed the same at every hotel beach. The snorkeling was excellent out at the barrier reef and the "Seaduced" tour operators were just as friendly as the hotel staff. The hotel has a pier that extends out quite a distance for swimming if you don't want to wade out through the sea grass and squishy bottom.

This is our second trip back to the Villas. Our first trip was a year ago for friends who were getting married here. Everything was perfect from start to finish. This year we visited to celebrate their anniversary. What a way to start the day by enjoying your coffee while watching the amazing sunrise. Each day we had the choice between doing water activities, sitting by the pool or taking the short walk into town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The owners, Ruth and Graham, go out of their way to help make your vacation memorable and relaxing. The rooms are clean, neat and comfortable and are just steps from the ocean. If you want a hotel that is reasonably priced, relaxed atmosphere and just enjoyable to be at then Caribbean Villas is for you!

Caribbean Villas was a great place to unwind after a day of fishing or snorkeling. Not a big fancy resort, but a nice small, quiet and clean place to relax. Great palapa bar on the beach with ice cold beer and rum drinks. Lots of trees and plants on the property. Even a 3 ft iguana sitting in the window one night. Satelite TV in the room, not that you need that on vacation, but it was still nice to turn it on after a busy day.
Would stay there again next time in Belize.

Preferring smaller, inn-type accommodations, we would return to Caribbean Villas Hotel in a heartbeat after our past week there. It's out of the chaotic business area, centered in a large, lush green sanctuary. As everyone else has mentioned, the staff couldn't be more pleasant. There's a small, personal community feel there with ideal proximity to the beach. This is an ideal property for those who are less interested in large, commercial resorts.

The staff were always very friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean and functional. I think next time I would upgrade from the standard room to get a larger bed. I would definitely request next time a room on the outside edges of the building as our middle room was very recessed and a bit dark (with a view partially obscured by the stairway). But the price was right, so I can't complain too much. We didn't spend much time in the room, so it didn't really bother us. But if you spend more time in your room or patio, definitely go for an upgrade to one of the rooms on the ends of the building. The grounds were beautiful with lots of trees and birds. The trees and the landscaping make it feel much more secluded and peaceful than many of the other resorts. I was very glad were weren't right in San Pedro.

The staff were very helpful in planning snorkeling trips. This came in very handy. During the off season (early December), there was difficulty finding tours with enough people to go out. Often the tour companies would cancel because they didn't reach the minimum number of people, but the staff called all over trying to find us another tour. While we were out snorkeling, they would call around a find us other tour options. It was unfortunate that the tour operators don't work together more. There may be 4 who want a tour with one company and 4 who want the same tour at another company, but nobody gets to go since neither of the companies has 6 people. It could be kind of frustrating, but the staff were great in calling around to find us another tour.

The resort was a great location with a great price (especially for the standard room). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
