Ambergris Caye is a beautiful island. Caribbean Villas is a beautiful resort & the staff was friendly & helpful. It was so humid when we were there that having only the bedroom & one bathroom air-conditioned was a bit of a hardship. We spent lots of time relaxing on the beach. It was fun watching the people walking on the beach & the schoolkids walking home in their uniforms. I enjoyed using one of the resort's bikes to ride around town in the early morning. The heat & humidity kept us from getting out as much as we wanted, but we did enjoy a glass-bottom boat ride to the reef & Hol-Chan Reserve & Shark-Ray Alley. We also booked a trip to the Lamanai Ruins on the mainland through the front desk. It was really interesting & fun! The view from our rooms was fantastic!

my husband of 17 years stayed here and are still here till the 22nd. Clean, simply stunning views, we had a typical hotel room, bed, and bathroom and needed no more. Tony was our bartender and never in traveling all over the world have I met people like this. Myella the cook wow perfect lady and local and told us where to and to not go. Leon her cook assistant and bartender simply one of those if you don't like him something is wrong with you. Tony also the cook assistant and bartender, kind, honest, so knowledgeable and just down to earth real people. Clean, not crowded, nice pool, awesome our own bar so you can eat out, cook in your room, or eat there. not overpriced and we felt it was a place we would want to return to every year as we will certainly miss them. Villa staff always never not once missed a good morning, hello, can we help you. The front desk booked whatever we wanted to do and there are no middle man fees so the price is the same as if you would have tried to find it in town. picked us up right on our own dock right in front. If you did not like this place you need to stay home. Great for kids, elderly, middle aged, single. Kind, Real, and owners actually care about their piece of paradise. we met some forever friends we will miss, and again the staff who are locals went beyond what they had to do for us and for everyone. Trust me I have been everywhere and watch and learn and please go go go and don't leave, you will cry, we are dreading 2 more days left..we read bugs, really your in the carribean sea, there was nothing that turned us off and I don't like bugs and all the guests gather at the bar for breakfast and talks and planning their days it was like a family of all ages get together..

Room Tip: we stayed in room 2, just a bed and bathroom, fridge, microwave and that was plenty for 15 days, the...

This hotel was a great choice, mainly because it is a little away from town so is really quiet, and the rooms are great. By the beach there is a sailing school and sailboat rental, so if you are a seasoned sailor or what to learn how to sail, this is your hotel. The restaurant is by the beach and near the pool, so you have breakfast with a view. Also, the hotel has bikes with no additional charge, so you can go to town or explore the island at your own pace.

Room Tip: Ask for second floor rooms for better view

My husband and I stayed at Caribbean Villas for our honeymoon. The staff was incredibly helpful and some of the nicest people I have ever met. They set up a snorkeling (Hol Chan/ Shark Ray Alley) trip, a golf cart for the day, taxi's to and from the airport, and a fishing trip for us. Louis at the bar was awesome! He had many suggestions for places to visit when we were looking for things to do and was very knowledgeable about restaurants and activities. You can also buy a 5 gallon jug of water from the villas for $1.50 US, which was great. We used the hotels bikes daily and were the perfect distance from town. We had a great time and will definitely be back to the Caribbean Villas next time.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3 and liked that it was right by the dining area with a beautiful view!

We used a Groupon for this hotel, and the price was absolutely amazing for the size of the room. If we would have brought enough friends for the beds available in the lofted room, we would have paid less than $200 per person for 7 nights! While it was a deal during the slow season, the view, location and the staff were amazing. Local dive shops and excursions even pick you up on the end of the hotel dock! All in all, this was probably one of the best vacation experiences I’ve had.

Room Tip: The lofted rooms are great for the price! May be a little warm on upper floor in the hot season tho...

We stayed in room #6, a lofted suite and I must say....WOW....this is like a small apartment for such a low price! The rooms are well equipped with everything you could possibly need including barware, serviceware & the items would expect like dinnerware. There were two window style air conditioners, one in the master bedroom & one upstairs. We tried to not use them as much as possible, since we were there during rainy season there was a very strong seabreeze that made the high humidity tolerable & could sleep just fine most nights without AC-even my AC dependent husband didn't die from the heat. The view from almost all rooms seemed to be great, you can see the ocean & beach from everywhere.

The staff were all wonderful-the front desk staff made check in a breeze, were happily ready to help us with any questions we had about borrowing their bikes, renting the golf carts, where to shop or where to eat on the island. Our housekeeper, Hilda, did a wonderful job on the room cleans & she was so honest, she didn't even take her tip money! On the last day we handed her a $40 BZ & said, "Why wouldn't you take your tips?" She told us she thought it wasn't for her. How often do you hear something like that? In addition, if there were any costs that were extra (e.g. a special drink with breakfast, cost to use golf cart, etc.) the staff were sure to make sure you understood before you purchased. I appreciate their attentiveness to not surprise guests with lots of incidentals at checkout.

Since we had to work our entire vacation, internet connectivity is very important to us. From our room, we had only one outage that happened after midnight. It was reasonably fast & reliable. No complaints here at all.

As far as bugs, I highly recommend bringing insect repellent-the mosquitos on the island can tell you're a visitor & will feast on you if you're not covered. This was not a problem on the beach due to the breeze, but the second you head toward the street or behind the resort buildings, they will seek you out. Save your legs & arms. Inside the rooms, we had some small ants but HEY-THIS IS CENTRAL AMERICA. You're going to see bugs. The rooms have louvre style shutters so the rooms are not going to be hermetically sealed.

For those going on excursions using water taxis, the pier here is great-quick pick ups right at your resort & at night its one of very few that is fully lit up. Very easy to find your way home.

The grounds were very clean & manicured, the staff did a deck redo at the bar during our first day on site-it was done super fast & was very little inconvenience. There was a staff member constantly cleaning the seaweed from the beach.

This could be good or bad, but Caribbean Villas Resort bar is a hangout for locals & ex-pats. They're very friendly & love to chat you up & give advice, but they bring all their dogs along. There were several incessantly barking dogs & 2 that wanted to fight-after hours of this, I didn't want to confront them but wish I had. There are signs on the beach asking pet owners to please pick up after their pets, so I'm wondering if this sign was hung up for these same people? I didn't notice them leaving "presents" anywhere on the beach though.

The breakfast was good-there are two different menus, apparently one during high season includes several choices then during low occupancy there is a egg, sausage/bacon breakfast offered. During our stay, the menu switched halfway through so we got to try everything. Everything was delicious, no complaints on the food at all.

Location is south of town, its an easy bike ride or walk (recommend taking the beach, it takes about half the time if walking) into town. The cheapest grocery store is just to the south of the hotel (purple building-Super Buy) and a fruit stand right outside the entrance. Stock up for cheap eating all week.

All in all, I loved this resort-the staff, the room, the price, the location.....so glad I chose Caribbean Villas.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to the bar get the best internet connectivity.

The Caribbean Villas hotel is located just south of the main part of San Pedro town. Very easy to get 'downtown' when you want to. Our room (#6) is on the 2nd floor and is the closest to the water's edge which gave us fantastic views of the beach, boat pier and the Caribbean... beautiful. The room, a lofted suite that could sleep up to 7, is a little outdated with in-wall AC's (one up and one down) and there were a few ants roaming around (bought a can of bug spray and took care of that), but the furnishings were nice and comfortable. The deck was a great place to hang and relax. Tours picked us up at the boat pier and they have bicycles you can borrow for free. We road the bicycles most every day right up the beach all the way to the toll bridge at the north side of town. The on-sight restaurant / bar was great. A very limited menu, but good food at a great price and very nice staff. All of the staff there were very friendly and helpful.
Well priced and very comfortable. Recommended!
