Corona del Mar was an excellent place to stay. The staff was friendly and the guest were great. Every night there was something new and exciting to do. Horseshoes, bar hopping , laying out in the hammock. The island people were friendly and helpful as to what was going on each night. Finding out were the best resturants were what they served or prices. The staff at Corona del Mar would be more than helpful with planning our day trips and making sure eveything went smoothly. We enjoyed days of snorkling or out seeing the Mayan Ruins. We were all so sad to leave .. The staff all greeted us when we arrived and also saw us when we left with hugs and smiles to all. This is such a wonderful place they make you feel like family.I am hoping to be back in June with friends again.

Corona del Mar was a fantastic hotel! Our room had a beautiful view of the beach and water. I went with graduate school classmates for Spring Break relaxation. The hotel served breakfast and coffee free every day, along with free rum punch all day. The management was very helpful and friendly. Great air conditioning and hot water. The hotel is a 0 to 20 minute walk along the beach to all the great restaurants, bars, and adventure tours, or you could take a quick, inexpensive cab ride. We were shocked with the amazing quality of all the food around San Pedro, its friendly people, and the inexpensive prices! It's a smaller island, but all the vendors worked together to make sure the tourists knew where the excitement was happening each night. It's quiet enough for a calm vacation, but there are also options for a very fun nightlife. It is a nice, slow lifestyle, so be prepared for some waiting time at the restaurants around town - it's well worth the wait. We went on a 3-hour snorkel adventure out to Shark Ray Alley and it was the most amazing experience - I probably saw at least 8 sting rays and a shark! The hotel also provides hammocks, games, books, lounge chairs and picnic tables. I can't wait to go back!

Located just outside of rtown, this is a great place to stay if you want something quiet within walking distance of the center of town.

Rooms are very comfortable, decorated with breezy white wicker furniture and boasting the quietest air conditioning I've ever not heard. Rooms also have bar fridges and our shad a nice balcony with small table and two chairs.

Staff is fabulous, making great restaurant recommendations for "local" places to eat. Laundry can be taken to the front desk so the housekeeper can do a load at no fixed charge - but remember to tip generously.

We rented bicycles which were in excellent condition and had convenient baskets. The snorkling tour was great too, and had the added convenience of dockside pickup.

We'll never stay any place else!

Happy with room--once we were switched from our tiny dark room to a much larger room facing water.
When I booked, I wrote that we were senior couple. According to info about hotel there "is" an elevator but it turns out it has not worked for months (heard as long as 6 months) and not expected to be fixed for several more (I wonder IF it will ever be repaired).
Stairs are outside and steep--and until we absolutely refused we were expected to somehow get our bags up the two flights.

I'm a bit late with writing my review, but better late than never! My fiance and I had such a wonderful time here last year, we went back this past Feb. and had just as great a time. We even got engaged on a sunset sail chartered by the "Rum Punch II"! (Ernesto helped plan the whole "surprise"!)

The staff at the Corona is extremely friendly, personable, and accomodating. I happened to be there during my birthday and they surprised me with a beautiful birthday cake! The rooms are kept very clean (great job Addie and staff!), and although they are basic, they are very comfortable. The staff is prompt with any questions and concerns. Ernesto and Marlemi are very informative and quick with e-mails prior to arriving. They will book excursions and are very honest with their ideas. Frank takes care of the grounds, and if you're lucky to be here on a Sunday, you may be fortunate to get in the horseshoe tournament as his partner!

This past trip we spent some time biking the island. Frank has bikes you can rent for the day. We had a wonderful lunch at Capricorns on the north side of the island (try the chicken tacos ~ Best ever!!!) We also came across a fun beach bar, Jolly Roger's run by Stephen and Claire. They have wine tastings and for dinner they have a nice menu. I highly recommend stopping by on the bikes!

After getting engaged here, we couldn't come up with a more exciting place to have our wedding! Ernesto has been extremely helpful in our planning our wedding for next year and we look forward to a simple, beautiful wedding with close friends and family at the Corona! Until next year....

We highly recommend Corona del Mar. It has a great location right on the beach just far enough away from town. We could easlly walk the beach in either direction (safe any time of the day or night) to restaurants, bars, dive shops or other tour operators. We enjoyed our balcony which had a fabulous view (not every room has a view). Frank took great pride in keeping the beach and grounds immaculate. Coconuts (next door) had great live music (we did not hear it in our room). Corona offers a light breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee, toast, etc. every morning and we enjoyed the free fruit punch and rum punch which was available 7AM to 7PM. The staff was always helpful in providing information, making reservations and suggesting tours. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable with plenty of room. The one thing I would do if I owned the place is to replace some of the broken blinds on the patio doors - not a big issue, though. We had a standard beachfront room, I did not see the apartments. There were several return visitors while we were there which is always a good sign. In front of Corona del Mar is Woody's Wharf where tour operators would pick us up for sailing and diving trips. The shade at the end of the wharf (pier) was a great place to sit and enjoy watching the boats going out to the reef. If we go back to Ambergris, we will stay at Corona del Mar. We booked our trip through Capricorn Leisure.

My daughter and I spent 5 days in December. Corona Del Mar is an easy walk to everything but away from the golf cart noise. The view from our room was idyllic: palm trees, white sand and blue ocean. Best of all, the entire staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't want to leave.
