Decent hotel, not too expensive. The rooms could be nicer (out dated) but very warm and friendly staff. The hotel restaurant had the best food we had on the island but don't expect fast service. Everything is on Belize time!! The hotel is about 1.5 miles from downtown San Pedro so rent a goft cart, this is a must to see other parts of the island. We had 14 family members who went and had a fabulous time.

We stayed at Banana Beach for a week in Feb 2009 and it was a great choice. They provided transportation to and from the airport and were eager to please. We were steps away from the beach, the service and staff was wonderful, and the rooms are very clean and bright. The staff at Monkey Business were great at scheduling our snorkeling trips and anything else we wanted to do. We had coffee whenever we wanted in the am's, along with a very yummy continental breakfast each day. And the view of the reef was amazing. We rented a golf cart for the week, and the resort is located at the south end of town, so we tootled back and forth quite often. We also just walked the beach a lot, found restaurants and just enjoyed the view. We found a bread fruit over on Caye Caulker and the kitchen staff cooked it up for us, so we shared with the other guests and the kitchen staff (it made a bunch!). The prices are very reasonable. We'll definitely go again!

We stayed for 6 nights and had a suite with a kitchenette. It is basic, but clean, sufficient and spacious. The ocean view is amazing. One note: the sofa sleeper is quite uncomfortable, but good enough for a kid. They also brought a twin bed for our second child which was very comfortable. The kitchenette worked out well for us, but there is nothing provided - no coffee, soap, kitchen towels or salt and pepper - so if you plan on cooking go to the largest supermarket on the island so you don't overpay at the closest store. The staff at the restaurant is wonderful and friendly and same goes for the Monkey Business. I think it helps when the guests are friendly themselves and not demanding. Booking diving, snorkeling (ask for Alfonso) or fishing is very easy and convenient at the Monkey Business. The place is continually being cleaned, beach raked, plants tended-to. The pool is great. The only unexpected and disappointing thing for us was that the beaches on this island are not great for swimming, so it's not ideal for kids, but that's our own lack of research... Perfect for diving and snorkeling though.

Simple place to stay. Not A Ritz or Hyatt but gets the job done. If your looking for these type of comforts this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a quent, quite and friendly place to stay this will work. Friendly staff at El Divino and Monkey Business make you feel right at home. Far enough from downtown (2.5 miles) congestion but still close enough to enjoy dining and shopping it offers by walking or golf cart. It is what it is. There are better and worse place.

  • Liked — Free breakfast with stay and staff at El Divino and rattan furniture in rooms
  • Disliked — Bathrooms and kitchens need updating

Banana beach resort is a great place to unwind. The staff is absolutely fantastic. The staff at El Divino were especially great every morning we would get our spanish lesson from a very bubbly server named Sergio. All the staff went out of their way to make you feel very comfortable and welcome. The food at El Divino was great as well, their menu offers a variety food to fit anybodies needs. The cleaning staff also stayed on top of everything quite nicely. The staff at monkey business are very helpful and friendly as well. They can set you up with anything from an amazing day of fishing to scuba diving. I would suggest if anyone is going out to the area to try some scuba diving seeing as the second largest reef is right out their back door. The location of Banana Beach is very close to down town for any needs out side of your hotel room. I would recommend this quaint hotel to friends and family looking for adventure and something out the the all inclusive destinations.

We called the day before our arrival to San Pedro and the staff was awesome with last minute accommodations of 6 people. They were friendly, helpful and immediately made us feel welcome!!

They offer restaurant dining that is out of this world. The complimentary breakfast was very good and we were greeted and taken care of in not just a professional manner, but in a friendly manner which meant a lot to us. Be sure to ask for Mac for your waiter.

Banana Beach also offers a store with friendly service and as I was in there on the internet, many guests came in and the staff was so helpful, friendly and warm to everyone.

The rooms were very clean, nice and comfortable. Tastefully done with the island feel!!

We do a lot of business world wide and throughout the Caribbean and Central America. We stay in many hotels and we have to say that Banana Beach is our favorite and we highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an awesome San Pedro Resort whether it be for business or pleasure!!

Well, I cannot complain about the price. We paid $100 per night. Rooms were consistent with the price. But there was an awful smell. We complained about it, so they mopped the floors one day, leaving the room smelling fresh, until the floors dried, then the smell came back. We could not identify the location/source from which the smell was coming from, but let's just say it smelled of feces. Beds left our backs hurting after a few days. (We have a temperpedic at home, so perhaps we are spoiled). Location was OK, but will stay on the north part of town next visit.
Restaurant was hit or miss. One meal would be great, the next awful. We ate there several times as it unfortunately rained our entire visit, and it was cold as well. Salad one evening tasted as if it were dropped in the sand, literally! Cerviche was great one time, poor the next. We sent food back 3 times during our visit. The service in the restaurant was excellent one day, almost non-exisitant the next. It really depended on the server. Breakfast was included as well, no complaints on that. With so many good restaurants in San Pedro, avoid the hotel's. Mangos (restaurant on the beach, north of the hotel) was great as well as Rojo's Lounge (upper island, must use water taxi).
Internet is available for 15 minutes/day in their office.
Had we not paid in advance, we would have changed hotels. The room is good deal for budget travelers.
