I spent 10 days at Sapphire in June. I needed the escape of a remote location, but I was worried that my two teen-aged boys would be bored. Not a problem. At Sapphire there is swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and beach-combing, and the boys had a blast knocking down coconuts. We actually bought a machete in town so that we could cut them open – unnecessary, since the friendly staff is happy to whack them open for you, but you know, teens like to whack stuff… And the resort makes it easy to get to town, so they got their occasional jet-ski fix. They also dive (I don’t), and had an amazing night-dive where they saw sting rays, sharks, octopus and eels. But I had the last laugh, when several dolphins swam by one morning, while the kids were still in bed and I was enjoying my coffee on the beach.

I have travelled extensively around the Caribbean rim including (7) trips to Belize and I have never found a resort that better captures what my imagination tells me I should seek in a tropical paradise. With natural beauty beyond description it is wonderfully secluded; yet not isolated as the bustle of town is only a short boat ride away. Unlike many Caribbean resorts that look ostentatious and out of place on a Caribbean beach, Sapphire Beach Resort has a fabulous eco-perfect design that "fits" with the natural environment but still provides all of the lavish comforts and amenities. Thatched roof tops hover under the Milky Way and sapphire blue lighting encircles beach side palms while your five star gourmet dinner is being delivered to your choice of indoor or outdoor dining locations. Garden paths wind through the resort in gentle curves because a straight line would emply time matters. The poolside palapa bar is small enough to feel intimate and friendly and is a welcome escape from the boisterous San Pedro bar scene. Yet it is busy enough to ensure lively conversation and the meeting of new friends. Being together in a tropical paradise accessible only by boat creates a comradery among guests like you would find on a group campout……..except no one is roughing it at Sapphire Beach! The accommodations are cozy and very well planned with choices that include ocean, pool, or garden views in a variety of price ranges. If you are watching your budget, yes, you can afford to visit Sapphire Beach, and if money doesn't matter you can't afford to miss it. And the staff: This is the most accommodating group of service personnel I have ever found. And I say that acknowledging that I have been the recipient of some extraordinary service from many trips with the cruise ship industry. Whatever your vacation need, turn it over to this staff. They will order, coordinate, deliver, cook, call or reserve until you go to bed happy. Equally perfect for couples or a family, I think you will love this place. I found it last February, returned in May, and have already booked my next trip for September. Perhaps I'll see you there…..

Room Tip: Phase two is under construction but there was little in the way of noise or dust. From every room you are close to one of the three pools and only steps from beach side hammocks and free kayaks. So let your budget be your guide. There aren't any bad rooms to avoid.

We just spent some time at Sapphire Beach and thought we should write something about our pleasant experience. If you like the night life, casinos and shopping, this is not for you. But, if you are into calm, nature and warm Caribbean waters, this is it! After a 25min. boat ride from the main town, San Pedro, you land in this beautiful village on the beach with thatch roofs. Our unit was simple but comfortable with a large terrace overlooking one of the pools. We enjoyed the nice landscaping, exotic birds, and sea life. In fact, if you are sporty and enjoy fishing, there is plenty of that for you to catch and cook--in your own well-equiped kitchen.
The extra bonus was the staff, who were friendly, welcoming and eager to please. Luis, the manager, was sharp and energetic. Lanice, at the restaurant, was kindly answering every question we had about the food that, by the way, was delicious-- don't miss the mango cheese cake. Ralph, driving the boat, was more than patient for late passengers and Jerrilee and Jossie at the office, were always busy trying to help customers.
The T.V. was there to watch movies but not yet installed for regular channels (we were told it should be done this coming week).
Thank you everyone at Sapphire Beach for making our vacation the most relaxed we had in a long time

Room Tip: Rooms around the pool are as nice as the ones facing the ocean. Try to get a room on the south side of the village since there still is some construction on the north side.

We have been to Ambergris Caye many times and stayed in many locations on the island. within San Pedro, South of San Pedro, a couple of miles North. In our opinion this is the best of them all. Its a 25 minute boat ride to town but its so worth the trip. Every time the resort's boat pulls up to its pier if you have elected to go into town that day you get that same feeling of being in a whole new world of tropical bliss. The island is so beautiful this far North. Larger white sand beaches, lush natural vegetation, higher ground, and of course so much more piece and tranquility there is also a lot less boat traffic. Sapphire Beach showcases this natural beauty with an incredible beach and landscaping throughout the resort. There are lots of tropical flower beds that attracts beautiful birds. Chilling on there beach is so surreal. Its so amazing how the ocean changes color depending on the cloud cover or weather. This is our 2nd time staying at Sapphire Beach the first being in Nov. 2013 we loved it then and we love it even more now. There restaurant El Zafiro is now open and serves incredible food. Every meal we had was great from the seafood ceviche to the maple glazed pork chops it was all so satisfying and they will also deliver to your room if requested. The buildings on there property are all spread out and are many different styles and levels. Its so unique compared to most other resorts. We stayed in a pool view unit and we think the view is just as nice as an ocean view. There is so much privacy and every unit has very large porches and balconies that are covered overhead to enjoy the shade and protect from the occasional rain shower. The units have full kitchens, comfortable beds, beautiful mahogany furniture and trim, and ours was nicely decorated. Internet works, but there is no cable TV yet, but we did not miss it at all. Our unit was furnished with a TV and DVD player and there is a large selection of DVDs to borrow from. They have three pools although they are small its fun to use them all throughout our trip for the different views. They have a nice pool bar that was well equipped. The beers were ice cold and a nice bartender that mixed great drinks and was very outgoing ( his name was E.Z.). In fact the whole Sapphire Beach staff was great! They will go out of there way to insure your happiness and are genuinely nice people. Luis the resort manager, Jerrilee front desk, Jossie, Ben and last but not least Raphael the boat captains. A great group of people for sure. There is some construction going on but nothing to diminish your stay there. We saw the plans of there phase two that they are currently working on. WOW.. ask to see the pool plans if you stay there and the almost completed units are stunning looking. We will be coming back for years in the future and look forward to experiencing the evolution of this great resort Sapphire Beach.

Room Tip: El Zafiro is an excellent on site restaurant but guests have an option for free boat pick up for dinner from Sapphire Beach's pier to Portofino or El Secreto resturants.

Not often do we find a resort so inviting and peaceful. This Sapphire visit will be on my repeat travel calendar. Restaurant is great as we're all the staff, but the tranquility was over-the-top! Great stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Depends on the number visiting. All rooms we viewed are great.

Phil,

On behalf of everyone here at Sapphire, thank you very much. We try to take advantage of the fact that we are far enough away from the local hustle & bustle yet near enough that one can still hop on a boat and go explore for the day.

Hope to see you again soon.
