After being met at the dock by one of the staff members with a rum punch in hand for us, we were escorted to our suite which was exceptional. Waterfront, quiet, Living room/kitchen area, bedroom and bath. Private patio overlooking the water was perfect for us. The pool with a swim up bar in the middle was delightful. You will want to try the "Mike-aritas" (margaritas) and there was a chocolate banana creation that Mike made that was amazing. All the staff were top notch. The location is about 3 1/2 miles north of San Pedro. If you are looking for night life and lots of action, head to San Pedro. If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing, quiet place, head to Belizean Shores. We plan to return!

Room Tip: Our suite was perfect and on the water front..12c.

We never stayed there, so this review is only about my experience trying to communicate and arrange for our wedding ceremony with them. We exchanged many emails, in all of them I was very clear that we only can stay with them one night. Along the way, couple of time their response to my question about what would be included in the package was:" you book your room and pay for it, then we will let you know what is included". I was getting a sense that I may fell in a trap, so I kept asking clarifying questions. But finally after a week that I assumed we are agreeing on everything, they sent me a quote for 3 nights room and told me this is the only option! I withdrew our plan with them and was very disappointed.
So maybe the location is good, but when negotiating with them, be very careful.

Just returned from fabulous 10 day stay at oceanfront room with loft. Met by Penny and all of her wonderful staff from boat taxi delivery right into our excellent room. Loved the way we were looked after, and special shoutouts to Penny, Mac, Sharon (housekeeping), Mike and Alex at the pool bar! Wayne and Kenny at tuff enuff were great on our holchan/shark ray alley tour as well. Room was spacious, clean and the deck view was incredible. Any small problems were dealt with immediately and to our satisfaction. The size of this resort, about 48 rooms in total I think , make it very cosy and easy to manage. We chose not to rent golfcart and saved ourselves $400 over the 10 days. We were 2 couples in this room with loft but did not run over each other. We rented bikes 3 times to ride into town 1/2 ride. We even walked the 3.5 miles one day-and took water taxi back. Had groceries and beer delivered free from village market grocery. Glad we did not stay right in San Pedro as just a little too busy Although it is a charming town. Really impressed by Belizeans as very very friendly . Recommend belizean shores to everyone!

We just returned from our two week stay at the Belizean Shores Resort. We had one of our best trips ever. We travel every winter and spring to a tropical resort as we live in snow country. The people at the resort were the nicest of any country and resort we have every traveled. Penny who meets you at the boat, with a rum punch when you arrive was the nicest person ever and always remembers your name. Any request we made was always taken care of promptly. The property was really well kept and very beautiful. The units are a little older but seem to be well maintained. We enjoyed having a kitchen to prepare the fresh fish we bought from fisherman Johnson. The resort will call him and he will meet you on the beach with his fresh caught fish. We had lots of wonderful lobster while we were there. They also have a fresh vegetable boat that comes from Belize City every Wednesday morning. So you can plan out meals. We had some wonderful meals out, but it gets kind of expensive to eat every meal out as the food is very expensive. All of the bartenders and waiters we so nice. We loved the swim up bar and Mikey was great. We used Tuff e Nuff tours for an all day catamaran snorkel, fishing, booze cruise and beach barbeque the best $80.00 we spent. Wish I was still there. Don't forget bug spray and a flash lite or head lamp to walk to restaurants at night. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We were in 2A close to beach and pool. All the units in 1,2,11,12 I would recommend.

Stayed there as part of a package book for our vacation. As far a resorts go it was nothing special or above and beyond. Its what I would have expected out of a resort located where it was. They are some good amenities, pools, tennis, ping pong, garden chess, and a great end of dock swimming area. The down side was the food prices seemed high since it was there or the resorts close by or take the water taxi into town for cheaper food which then ended up being the same price after the taxi. The room was very clean and the Guest Services and Housekeeping were both very friendly and nice.

Belizean shores is a great place to stay, penny greets you at the pier with your rum punch, takes you directly to your condo and gives you time for questions you may have. This is where I don't give 5 stars, we asked for a golf cart and the price we were told a price that was compatible with what we normally pay while we are there, when we checked out it was twice the price we were quoted and we argued this and was given a small discount. Restaurant on site is just ok, cheeseburgers and the view are the best, also I reserved 4b and was given 5d and didn't change this, mind you I wanted 4b so my friends would have a regular bed not a pullout couch, backs are a little sore after a week. You ask now, will I stay here again? Absolutely !!! Everything else is perfect!!

The room was excellent. We were in the back of the resort but did not find the construction noise to be a problem. Be advised you cannot drink the water out of the faucet-you have to drink water that is available from a faucet towards the back of the resort.

The staff was very friendly.

The biggest complaint we have is the water taxi schedule. If you do not want to eat at the resort restaurant (over priced and average taste) you have to either walk to another resort or take the water taxi into town. The bikes and golf carts are not options because you cannot use either after dark, which is of course when you want to go eat dinner. The restaurants north of the bridge are way over-priced for what you get. You can get MUCH better value in the US at Bonefish Grill or Outbacks. Count on spending at least $75 US for two entrees north of the bridge. Tuffenuff taxi (you might as well go ahead and buy a weekly pass) has a boat that leaves for town at 5:50 and 7 pm. Their boats return at 615 ad 8:30. The problem is it takes between 15 and 30 minutes to get to town. You either gobble down your food (if you can get served and eat the food) in an hour or less or you are stuck in town for 2 1/2 hours. Both options are unacceptable. Our final night we took the 7 pm taxi in thinking we could grab a quick supper ad get back. Think again. We wound up not having time to eat at all and had to return to the resort on the 8:30 taxi, or else wait for the 10:30 taxi. All the restaurants were closed by the time we got back to the resort at 9. The only way we had anything at all to eat that night were the leftovers in our refrigerator. The experience largely ruined the visit for us.The other water taxi schedule is just as bad. Why in the world they don't have one leaving and returning every 2 hours I have no idea. It would be so simple and make so much sense. If the trip takes 30 minutes you have 1 1/2 hour to walk to your restaurant, get waited on, eat, and walk back to the dock. It's really ridiculous they don't have a schedule more considerate of their patrons. It seems more geared toward the needs of the resort staff than the visitors. I would have given this resort a very good or perhaps excellent if the water taxi schedule was better.

We came to Belize and this resort in particular because the snorkeling was supposed to be so good off the resort. It is above average but not that great. You have to paddle a kayak out to the reef, about 1/2 mile or more. You tie off to a buoy and jump in. The first buoy we tied to had nothing but sea grass, no starfish or sea urchins or anything. So we swam toward the reef. Eventually we found some coral and fish but nothing great. When we started swimming back toward shore we could not see our kayak due to the distance and 2 foot waves. It was really scary. Eventually we saw the red life jacket we had tied to the top of the kayak and were able to swim to it. Tip-get a life jacket and tie it to the top of your kayak for visibility. Do NOT go to the buoy straight off the dock-there is nothing to see. Go to the one to the right of that one. Swim between the buoys, not out toward the reef. It is not easy snorkeling-you are fighting the surge of waves crashing over the reef.

The burrito man comes around 8 to 8:30 in the morning-the steak one is excellent. There is a vegetable boat that comes to the dock Tuesday morning. There is a man on a bicycle who comes Tuesday and Thursday and will sell you 6 lobster tails or a huge grouper filet-both excellent and reasonably priced. Ask the other guests or at the front desk, but ask specifically about these vendors-if you ask if there are beach vendors they will tell you no, which is not true.

The trip to Shark Ray Alley was great, although the rays, turtles and sharks were not that much bigger than we have seen elsewhere. There were scuba divers below us so many fish were scared away.

All in all it was a nice visit but we will not go back. The food north of the bridge was way overpriced for what you get and the water taxi schedule was incredibly inconvenient for going into town at night to eat at the more reasonably priced restaurants. The snorkeling was good, but it is almost as good right off the beach at Grand Lido in Negril, Jamaica which is an all-inclusive for less money.
