Great, great place. A little ways from town but within walking distance to several restaurants. Ask the staff for advice. They were pretty spot on. Hit the bakery for cinnamon rolls. They are excellent. I got there before 8 and enjoyed the walk along the beach back. Get a gallon ofthe hotel punch and hit the store nearby for 5 barrel rum (that's the local brew). There is 1, 3 and 5 barrel - 5 being the smoothest.

The hotel pool area is very nice. Unlike many of the hotels, this area is maybe 4-5 ft higher than the beach, which minimizes the view of beach traffic and gives you a nice sense of privacy. We arranged a snorkeling tour through them which was very nice as well. Rooms were clean and well maintained.. Highly recommended. Just a reminder. Always ask if prices are in Belize or US (2 Belize to the dollar). Went to Victoria house for dinner. It was in dollars and not worth the price . Do recommend Blue Water Grill (higher end but worth it) and Ricos.
Say high to Miss Melanie.

It's hard to find words to express the love I have for this place! It's a GORGEOUS resort. The grounds are impeccably maintained. The lush foliage gives the feeling of being secluded in a tropical forest. Simply beautiful. We spent a week here in June enjoying our honeymoon. From reserving this trip online, to our stay, to checking out, things went perfectly. We added on the honeymoon package and our days were full with all the activities that was part of the package. Melanie, at the front desk, was amazing. She took such good care of us!! Love that girl. The honeymoon suite overlooked the ocean and the views were breathtaking. We are planning on returning next year for our anniversary!! This is the most beautiful, relaxing resort that I've been to and I've traveled a lot. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. It will NOT disappoint!

Xanadu is a spot in the Caribbean you don't want to miss. Our stay was fantastic. The grounds are perfectly kept and the staff did a special thing to our room on our anniversary. The pool was perfect and our room had a pool and ocean view. I couldn't give any higher praise to all those working ay Xanadu. All of the tours you are picked up at the pier if they are boating. You rent golf carts for the transportation which made this trip unique.I HIGHLY recommend Xanadu for a paradise stay in Ambergris Caye, San Padro.

Room Tip: I always get a 2nd floor room cause even in paradise there can be a mosquito or 2.

We found Xanadu to be exactly as advertised - secluded, quiet, immaculate groundskeeping, and close to everything. Many great excursions to choose from. We had a nice loft, with a great veranda we used day and night (tough choice, sit in a chair or hammock). We rented a gold cart one day and drove way up north. Found many great places to eat, thanks to the front desk. Whatever you do, the fantastic staff led by Kathy (Melanie, Ingrid, Franz, Orlando, I apologize for not remembering the other names, all were unfailingly polite, professional and efficient...) will make it easy for you. Whether it's book a golf cart or an excursion to a Mayan ruin, or a sunset sail, they will take care of you.
Oh yes, we would love to return again someday.....Thomas and Janice

Coming to Xanadu is like walking into a dream. The grounds are immaculate, and the staff makes the customer's experience their top priority. We were met at the airport by a very friendly taxi driver who made us feel very welcome and encouraged us to explore and engage the local culture. Upon arrival at Xanadu, the staff eagerly took our bags and paid the cab fare for us.

Upon checking in, Ingrid handed us two brimming fruit and rum cocktails. My first question to her was: "Do I have to wear shoes anywhere?" She smiled and said something like "No shirt, no shoes, no problem. Everywhere on the island," and I knew we were in paradise.

Our room wasn't quite ready, so they had us drop off all our bags, changed some currency for us, and sent us down the beach to a restaurant. Without describing the whole magical experience (it was our honeymoon), let me just say Ingrid, Franz, Orlando, Melanie, and the whole staff were very attentive and involved in making the most of our experience. They cater to your interests and level of activity, suggesting day trips and making all the arrangements and reservations.

We spent a lot of time just walking up and down the beach, and from that perspective, we were impressed again by Xanadu's grounds relative to the other resorts. There's no litter, unlike everywhere else on the island, and someone rakes the sand every morning--no detail is overlooked. There are a lot of four story beachfront condos shooting up everywhere, but they are big, climate controlled boxes on tiny lots, completely removed from the beautiful tropical surroundings. By contrast, Xanadu feels quite "natural" in its place, with varied structures, not just identical boxes set at right angles, and surrounded by the lush, native flora and fauna. Much of the property is occupied by nature trails and is shaded by large trees, nature's air conditioning.

The main appeal of Xanadu, for us, was their commitment to sustainability, which is rare for a luxury resort. They have invested heavily in modern "green" infrastructure, from powerful, whisper-quiet high-efficiency air conditioners to a recycled water system for the landscaping. Even the pool is saline instead of chlorinated, because of the proximity to the ocean and sealife. It feels a lot better on the eyes and the water is much prettier! Even though there is no municipal recycling service on the island, Xanadu goes the extra mile to recycle whatever they can. I even went beach combing for bottles and turned them in to be recycled.

Our suite was amazing. We had booked one of the smaller suites, but it was huge, had its own full kitchen, a huge bedroom, beautiful bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, and soap dispenser in the shower instead of those stupid disposable bottles!), and to top it all off, they left us a beautiful fruit bowl in the kitchen, complete with wine and cheese, and a flower arrangement with chocolate was waiting on our bed.

I could go on and on about this place, and all the fun we had thanks to Xanadu's caring staff. If we ever go back, I can't imagine booking anywhere else. If you're an environmentalist at heart, and you want to pamper yourself sustainably, while still enjoying your natural surroundings, Xanadu is the place for you!

One last request: tip well everywhere you go, you're on vacation!

Room Tip: The rooms run big. We got a full kitchen/bathroom in our spacious "1 bedroom." It was probably bigger than any place we've ever lived.
