Reviewed a number of hotels before selecting Zanadu. This is the hotel you want to stay at. The service is impeccable under the guidance of Ingrid and Blanca. The rooms are clean, well maintained and comfortable. The porch and accompanying hammock were a welcome sight for a beverage in the afternoon. It is obvious they take great pride in the hotel, grounds and service. I am in a hotel 130+ nights a year from New York to India, London to Calgary and this is the perfect fit for anyone, honeymooners or divers alike, in Belize.

We stayed in the three bedroom on the beach. Plenty of room. Modern and well maintained. Like all of the reviews met the staff and agree that they make the stay easy and wonderful. Pleasant sunset sailing. Snorkeling was excellent. Fishing with Nestor was excellent. Trip to the Ruins combined with the cave tubing is a must. I wish we had time to do ATM and see El Tikal but will go back and spend a couple of days on land before going to AC. Parasailing and jet skiing came to the dock to pick us up. Busy every day with something else to do before relaxing on the hammock on the porch or watching American TV in the den. Blue Water Grill was the best restaurant for us.

The accommodations were great. Close to San Pedro. The staff was so helpful. We knew nothing about the area, but they made recommendations and booked EVERYTHING for us (excursions, golf carts, even the Tropic Air flights to and from the island for our excursions). Everything was SOOOOO easy for us.

Wow!! What a great vacation. My wife and I have traveled the Carribean scuba diving over 15 years now, and this year's trip to Belize was our best by far! My wife heard the host on the Today Show raving about staying at Xanadu in San Pedro, Belize. When we decided to go there this August, we looked Xanadu up on line, conversed with Blanca by email, received all the information on excursions we wanted to do beforehand, and planned the trip. Ingrid, Blanca, and the kind gentleman behind the desk helped us with recommendations of who to dive with( we loved Chuck & Robbie's the best!), snorkel - (definitely go with Alphonse, he is wonderful, Very Knowledgeable, and friends with the sharks & rays!!!), a Mayan ruin tour( fly inland to Lamanai, gives you more time to explore on the river tour and doesn't wear you out the rest of the day), and where to eat. great food(George's Kitchen- excellent, and not far from Xanadu at all). Xanadu staff books everything for you, and summary bills it all, making payment very easy in the end. Super rooms & staff, beautiful peaceful grounds, clean and well kept throughout, will definetly return soon, as we found much more we'd love to do in San Pedro. Really friendly people everywhere you go. Steve & Kay Parker( 7/31/10 - 8/7/10)

Xanadu is beautiful, what a setting and so comfortable, we felt right at home, only difference is home isn't as nice, Huge bathrooms and showers, even a whirlpool bath. Perfect place to go off on any excursions, snorkling, fishing, parasailing, or main land excursions from Mayan ruins to cave tubing. Ingrid set everything up for us and it all ran smoothly, she did a great job for us. Everyone at Xanadu was friendly and always ready to help with anything you needed. Also security is great, gate locked at midnight and security guards roam the beach and grounds all night.
Walk out the gate onto the road and a market is right next door has pretty much what ever you need, we saved a lot of money by shopping there and cooking in with most meals but places to eat out were everywhere up and down the island.
Xanadu sits right on the beach and the sea breeze is constant and wonderful when sitting out on the porch watching boats , people, fishermen, parasailers, and the breeze keeps bugs away.
Free bicycles and kayaks, we had a lot of fun with those. Towels provided.
Great pool and a terrific bar BQ, we asked the office staff where to get lobster and they made a call and had a local fisherman catch up 14 lobsters, the tails were delivered to our freezer and we bar BQ'd them along with boneless chicken breasts, Heaven.
We hated to leave and can't wait to go back.

My Boyfriend and I recently celebrated our anniversary in Belize. We chose to stay at Xanadu Island Resort after seeing pictures and reviews on-line. It didn’t disappoint! This resort was wonderful, the rooms were well equipped with full kitchens, very cozy living spaces and comfortable beds. The staff went out of their way to help with any questions we had, whether it be booking excursions or even just recommending a good local restaurant. Ingrid and Blanca were friendly and very knowledgeable about the island amenities and local attractions. Ingrid recommended a tour to shark/ray alley with Alfonse tours, and it was by far the best experience we have ever had! Alfonse was so so enthusiastic about the animals we got to encounter, he truly enjoyed sharing his knowledge with everyone! The one thing we found odd was that Xanadu has no restaurant, but the more we saw other resorts with them we were glad it didn’t. It was nice to have a quiet retreat with no tourist wandering around the grounds. Everything on the island is walking or biking distance, and Xanadu provides free bike rentals! We had an amazing trip to Belize and we know we have found our little piece of heaven at Xanadu, we most defiantly will return!

There are too many good things to say about Xanadu, but here are some highlights. First, the staff members were wonderful people. Ingrid and Blanca made reservations and tour arrangements so easy - all we had to do was ask! Orlando was the best guide to all the resort flora and fauna. He was patient and kind as he pointed out difficult to see fruit bats, green iguanas, birds and all the trees on the resort grounds. Jamil handled all our activity requests with a smile - no matter how many times we asked for dry beach towels or an Orange Fanta! And we can't forget Dino, the coolest resort cat ever.

Our suite (Loft #3) was perfect. It was nicely decorated, immaculately clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The kitchen was well equipped and even had a blender to whip up smoothies or a pina colada. The friendly and efficient housekeeping staff even washed our dishes for us! The view from our deck was beautiful. I watched the sunrise over the water from the hammock more than once. Monday was 100% rainy day for us, so we watched movies on TV (lots of cable channels) read and cooked comfort food. The rest of our week was sunny and we if we were not booked on a tour, we enjoyed relaxing by the pool.

The resort arranged tours for us for snorkeling and the river cruise to the Lamanai Mayan ruins. Both were run by knowledgable, professional guides. Thanks, Alphonse for showing us so many fish on our Hol Chan snorkeling trip! And Javier from Searious tours was a treasure trove of information on our Lamanai trip.

The town of San Pedro was fun and colorful. Even though there were many disadvantaged residents, everyone from the shop clerks, to the taxi drivers, to the street merchants were friendly and helpful. Be sure to check out the Salty Dog shop for a lot of cool souvenirs.

There were many good restaurants within walking distance of the resort. Our favorites were Rico's (a 5 minute walk on the beach) and El Divino (10 minute walk south of the resort.) Be sure to try the Mayan Shrimp at Rico's and have Huevos Rancheros for breakfast at El Divino. Other good places to eat in the town were The Baker, Caliente and Wild Mango’s. Take a taxi or grab a bike from Xanadu’s activity office to get to these places.

All in all this was the best vacation I've ever had. I can't recommend Xanadu highly enough. The resort owners, Ivan and Judy Sheinbaum have created a beautiful place to stay and staffed it with the best people in Belize!
