“Great bar. Drink what's on di wall!”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

Did not stay at the hotel but spent several hours at their onsite bar. Met a lot of friends here including locals, other backpackers visiting from abroad, and of course the owner and awesome dog! I highly recommend playing beer pong, flip cup or other drinking games if you have a big group there. The bar staff was awesome all night and if you are lucky enough to catch the owner come in you may get free shots of Jaeger!! Will come back every time in San Pedro before going out to Jaguars!

We stayed at Pedro's Hotel for 2 nights during our trip. The hotel with the "deluxe" rooms are across the street from the inn/hostel part. Pedro's is located on the back street, and although it's not too far from the rest of the town, we highly recommend that you rent a golf cart from somewhere and use that to drive into town (don't rent a golf cart from Pedro's though, they are slightly more expensive) as it's a bit of a walk. Plus, during our trip to Belize, it was really rainy so the street getting to Pedro's was slightly flooded and we didn't want to get our shoes wet.

I chose to book a "deluxe" room as the description on Travelocity said there was WiFi, but when we got there, it turns out that the only WiFi areas are by the pool, the veranda, and in the bar. It was fine though, no big deal as the bar isn't like a crazy wild college bar - there are lots of tables and it's pretty low-key and so we were able to do our work in the evenings at the bar. The deluxe room itself is no frills at all. The king bed is really 2 smaller beds pushed together, but it's not weird. There is a safe in the room if you are worried about your valuables. It's not sparkling bright and white like in the hotels in the U.S., but it's clean. We have found that in Belize, the hotels don't give you shampoo and conditioner, so you need to bring your own, although they do give you towels and soap. The shower's water pressure is really good and there is both hot and cold water. The TV is small and doesn't get the best reception, but there are enough channels that you can watch. The hotel is also next to a veterinarian clinic so we woke up to barking dogs every morning, but we have 2 dogs of our own and it was no big deal for us, although I can see it being a problem for light sleepers.

Quite honestly, you're not going to be spending a ton of time in your hotel room at all and Pedro's is practically the most inexpensive option if you need internet access and you want a room with air conditioning. Plus, everyone we met who works there was really helpful and nice, and it's a pet-friendly hotel if you are vacationing with your pets (the hotel owner has a couple pets there who are always hanging out). If you are staying for an extended period of time in San Pedro (more than 3 nights), then Pedro's might not be enough for you, but if you're on a budget and don't need all of the fancy frills, then Pedro's Hotel will do.

We stayed for 10 days with nothing but rain almost every day. Pedro's Hotel comes as advertised, A clean inexpensive place to stay. There is nothing fancy nor esthetically pleasing to the eye about this place. The walk from the main road to the hotel is a rocky one and like crossing a lake if it rains( you ll understand if you're there when it rains). You are not at this hotel for the scenery ! We were met by Paul, a kind Canadian, who seems to have a serene and calm control of the place. Our room came as advertised, CLEAN ,not fancy, small, simple, functional A/C, hot water, a small safe, small tv with enough channels, fresh towels, daily room cleaning, small fridge and a hard not so comfy bed. Hotel bar is a cool place to unwind with some simple food and cold drinks. The hotel is off the main road, a 10-15 minute walk from town center ( walk on the beach instead). That said, if you are going to spend countless hours in your room then, not the place for you. If you are out every day doing and exploring , then this is a clean place to lay your head, to clean up and charge up. The owner's dog is always around for a walk or a rub so bring the dog a bone or two !
A very positive note: we arrived a day late to a pre-paid stay. We had no problems whatsoever getting our money back or having it applied as credit. No haggle, no fuss, no argument just plain 'ol easy and stress free arrangement. Well done Paul.

We stayed at Pedro's for 6 nights.
The first 4 nights we had a deluxe room in the annex (top floor), which was comfortable, large and had a pool view. The only thing we didn't really like were the roaches hiding under the toilet in the bathroom, but after a good spray they seemed to be gone.

Our last 2 nights we spent on the bottom floor of the hotel. We didn't like this room so much. It was dark, no good lamps and there was a sewer smell.

There is no internet access from most of the rooms.
The rooms were very clean though and we enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful and the bar is great for meeting people, pizza's & wings!

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe room in the annex. Or, as a more budget friendly option, a room on the top floor of...

My family of 8 stayed at Pedro's Hotel for our first night in San Pedro. It was very basic, but had everything we needed. I consider it very 'bare bones' for a hotel. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but the AC worked (although it was fairly noisy). The 2 swimming pools were extremely basic, as well. You aren't able to put toilet paper in the toilet, which is fairly common on the island, but it still shocked my 3 American teens. The hotel is set back off the main drag in an area that made me a bit nervous to walk to, but we didn't end up having any issues. The rooms come with cable TV, but only 1 station was English speaking. The owner of the hotel was friendly and helpful.
