Stayed for one night on Saturday. Air con remote didn't work air con. Key didn't work the door. Safe was already locked so I couldn't secure my belongings. Warning of power going off the next day between 7 am and 3 pm, so I got up at 6 to shower only to find they decided to turn it off at 6, therefore no shower, water or breakfast.
All these issues brought to the receptionist in the morning with a reply of "oh well!" You just couldn't write it. Avoid if you want any service. Enjoy if you want budget - budget!

The room was clean, the staff were wonderful, close enough to walk anywhere. Always felt safe there. Spent money on the wonderful activities of Ambergris Caye. Loved the dogs that lived there. Staff were honest, left safe open and everything was there. Would go back there again.

Room Tip: Ask to have a room away from the bar, can be a bit noisy on the weekend.

Pedro's was a nice place to stay. The room was clean, the grounds well maintained, and overall it was a good deal. I would absolutely stay there again. If you are there on a Thursday night I strongly suggest you join in the " Thursday trivia contest ", it was a hoot! Just a good time overall, if you are on a budget you get a great deal here and then some.

I rate this place "terrible" because of how disrespected my girlfriend and I felt after staying here. In all fairness though, the room was adequate, and if your traveling on a budget then this is unfortunately one of your only options. The owner (Peter) knows this, and uses the "low cost" slogan to excuse all the poor service. While budget minded travelers do not expect lavish accommodations or luxury, we should command the same respect and decency as those with more money to spare. Whether the following incident occurred at a 5 star resort or Pedro's Hotel, the handling of the situation should have been substantially different.
During an evening swim off the coast of San Pedro, we encountered a jelly fish swarm. After one of our companions was stung several times, we immediately rushed to find medical attention. She could not breath, walk, and was becoming unresponsive. Due to the severity of the situation, we left all of our clothes and personal belongings on the beach. During the following 5-6 hours we were finally able to have a doctor called in to have her seen at a public clinic. After medical care and escorting her back to her hotel (The Grand Caribe), we drove back to our room at Pedro's. At this time, it was approximately 3 a.m. Upon reaching Pedro's we calmly explained to the security guard in the courtyard that we had left our key and needed to be let into our room. We apologized profusely at the earliness of the hour and indicated several times that it had been a life or death situation. The security guard (although very pleasant) relayed to us that he did not have extra keys, only the owner Peter did. He then explained that under no circumstance would he wake Peter up and we would not be allowed back into our room. Distraught and tired, we chose not to argue with the guard (seeing that it did not appear to be in his control). At this point, we were forced to find another hotel for the night and get a room. The following morning when the front office desk had opened, we spoke with a woman and explained that we needed a new key for the hotel room due to the previously stated incident. The woman informed us that we would be charged $30 for a lock replacement. While we understand that at hotels like such a charge may occur for property loss, this policy NEEDS to be clearly posted and indicated to travelers. We then discussed the situation with being charged for a night in our hotel room in which we were refused entry. It seemed unreasonable to pay for a room we were not allowed to stay in and then additionally be forced to find another room for the night. Both complaints were met with contempt and hostility. The manager questioned our story and was completely inept at communicating with any sort of courtesy. We asked to speak directly with Peter and were told he was too busy and that they would explain the incident and get back to us within 24 hours. No such response occurred.
Ultimately, while we are more than highly dissatisfied with our experience at Pedro's Hotel, it is our hope that critical commentary like this helps to change the hotel's policies or improve their customer service. Money was not the issue in this situation, but rather the disregard and ignorance shown by Pedro's staff in their response to what could have been an easily remediable incident.
Peter, if you do read this and feel you have a way to remedy the situation, please feel free to contact us.

Room Tip: If you are traveling on a budget, stay on Caye Caulker at the Barefoot Caribe. The island is mellow...

I stayed at Pedro's during my Honeymoon. The staff was excellent, friendly people that smiled a lot and tried to be as helpful as possible. Peter is a funny quick witted guy and is helpful if you can get his attention. We met some cool people at the bar/restaurant, which is an entertaining place. The facilities were ok, but good enough so we could spend our money on diving and other trips and excursions. The hotel has basically everything you need for your stay in San Pedro. We felt completely safe there. Highly recommended!

Peter and his amazing staff hosted our meeting with pizza and drinks. Plenty of tables and chairs. Music is great and they stay open late. We got a lot accomplished and had fun doing it. This place is always the best!
