“The Best Vacation Spot Yet”
Reviewed 24 February 2009

We visited the island with a group of about 20 or so people from the norhteastern US during what was probably one of the coldest weeks back north. I just can't describe how surprised I was about how nice this place was in relation to where we have stayed in the past (at other locations in the Caribbean) and how great a time we all had.

The location is not an issue as being a short distance from town was nice in that it was very quiet - even though we generally were not. The accomodations were perfect - the right amount of space - the cleanliness and comfort was not an issue even though past vacations were spent in luxurious villas. I sort of liked the cabanas better.

The staff was very friendly and willing to help in every need - even though it usually centered around storing the numerous cases of beer and obtaining the daily ration of ice for the cooler (also provided by the staff).

The town of San Pedro is a real treat - small enough to get around without having any maps and close enough that a short trip on the carts was not an issue. The bars and restaurants were really nice - good food, good prices and nice people. The Sandbar - adjacent to the resort was one of the better places to eat and I had my best meals there - good value too.

All in all, I was extremely surprised by how much I really enjoyed the resort and the location - I had expected some disappointments based on our previous vacations being at very exclusive villas - but I found this the most enjoyable vacation spot we have been to. And, we are definately coming back.

Spent a week there with 8 other couples - had a blast. Just hanging at the beach. Location was great, employees were friendly and helpful. We all plan on going back next year.

I was with the big Romeo group, 20 people. We had a great time. It was a very low key place, cozy and clean. Not fancy but perfect for a comfortable vacation. The service was very good and the rooms were cleaned immaculately every day. The bar and restaurant was a good choice if you do not want to go anywhere, and the town was just a short golf cart ride away. We could make our own little party at the beach every day. Because we were a large group we were our own entertainment. Having the golf carts to come and go as we pleased was a great convenience, I would recommend them, but make sure you go with the rentals that the Royal Caribbean reccomends. The only thing that I would suggest as an addition would be a hot tub, I did miss that.
All in all, it was a great time, and I think we will be back again next year.

This will be our 6th year of traveling together as a large group of (20 people) couples seeking tropical locations to relax, soak up some sun, and leave it all behind. Each year we are guaranteed a lot of laughter, pray for some good weather, and hopefully bring home some terrific memories and for weeks after we return home we discuss where we'll be going next year. That is until this year - this year the group decided on the 2nd day of our trip to RCR, "we're coming back here next year!!" And so it goes, my life as the part-time travel planner will be a breeze this year not only because Jennifer from the Royal Caribbean Resort is an amazing resource to help with planning, but also the trip was so easy! The cabins are perky, happy, immaculately clean, little yellow homes sitting neatly along a strip of palm trees and beautifully manicured hedges with pink flowers that the humming birds simply can't resist. The staff caters to your every whim with smiles that are truly heartfelt. The island is a place to do everything or do nothing or do a little of anything. You decide. For us one morning we jumped in a dive boat right at the property dock and had a lovely afternoon snorkeling with sharks and rays.

We rented golf carts to travel the 10-minute ride back and forth to the quaint little town filled with restaurants, bars, shopping and beaches etc. The food was so good, from the Jamaican Jerk, to the lobster omelette, to the pasta at Picasso's, tp the burgers right at Fido's on the property. 20 people, 3 (plus) meals a day - every one of them was better than the last one.

Very clean facility, friendly helpful staff. The cabana rooms were very nice and offered good privacy. The location on the island is perfect. Nice beach, big pool, and a great beach bar on site. A little off the beaten path from the night life in San Pedro, but that's fine by us. Just a short cab ride or golf cart ride into town.

This resort consists of a number of small cabins and we found ours to be comfortable, clean, spacious and all we needed for a 9 day stay. While this is not a 5 star hotel, for the money it is an excellent value. We were about 20 yards from the beach & ocean with palm trees and sun chairs. San Pedro is an easy walk along the beach to town (about a mile) but if we needed a cab the front desk would get one there in minutes (taxi into town ranged from $10 - $12 Belize or $5 to $6 US). . Nando and Nick at the front desk were very friendly and accomodating. As far as we were concerned there was nothing lacking in this place. One drawback, true of this whole part of the caye, is that swimming and snorkeling right out from the hotel is not very good. We saw a few rays and other critters, but no coral. However, some dive shops will pick you up on the resort's dock any morning you want to dive or snorkel.

  • Liked — The quiet, laid-back and simple accomodations and atmosphere
  • Disliked — The beach and ocean just out from the resort not good for swimming or snorkeling

We stayed 7 nights between Christmas and New Years. The rooms were very clean. The 2 times we ate at the restaurant it was delicious. We brought in our catch of the day and they prepared it for us. Get the Mayan style fish, it was unbelievable.
I did not have much interaction with the staff other than checking in and out. They were pleasant and seemed helpful.
There is not a swimming beach here! it is shallow and full of Turtle grass. The dock is long and we caught a few fish from it but still...Turtle grass. We did not spend much time at the resort.
There was not a party type atmosphere there. Most people were either in their rooms or not there at all. It was a little too quiet for me. If quiet is what you are looking for, I highly recommend it.
We spent most of our time either fishing, diving or in town.
You definitely need a golf cart here ($250-$300 US for a week) If you get a taxi negotiate the price first. $6 or $7 Belize from the resort to town.
All the dive and fishing shops will pick you up at the dock at the resort. All in all it was a nice place but I would stay closer to town next time.
