“our new home away from home!”
Reviewed 4 June 2012

couldn't be more thrilled about our stay here. the people are fantastic, the location is perfect, the dog, Reef, is adorable and captain boxter is BAS [--]!! if you're traveling to san pedro, consider caye casa- reasonably priced, but a 5* villa!
the other people staying at this villa were there from Germany and had been "living" here for months. getting to know them was also a bonus in our travels, but said something huge about the establishment! we were there for a week, but also instantly got the sense that we had a home there. Caye Casa is located down the street from the hustle and bustle of the bars and city, but close enough to walk in a few minutes. it was perfect. also close to the bridge to the north side of the island and RIGHT on the beach front. possible the best beach from property we have ever stayed in.
you will not be disappointed if you are the kind of traveler that likes to blend in. this is NOT a resort, but that is not a bad thing, i would never choose a resort. can't wait to go back to our home away from home!

We were on our honeymoon and originally were checked in for 3 days but ended up staying 10'days! Julie was great and so was her team, most noticeably Shane who bent over backwards to help us! We did our dives in amigos del mar and caye casa is only a 7 minute walk so easy to get to. It is central in San Pedro and overall we had a lovely stay! We were in the most basic room and it was perfect. Room service everyday, clean and very comfortable. Caye casa also paid for a taxi on arrival and also on departure! A nice touch!

We spent 7 nights at Caye Casa. It was a wonderful and relaxing experience. Location is great. Walking distance to town. We rented a golf cart for most of our stay so we were able to travel all over the island, but it is not necessary as far getting to stores, restaurants, etc. Our room was perfect for the 2 of us. Great having a separate bedroom (with AC). Living room/kitchenette was perfect for us, although we spent most of our time on the porch gazing at the sea which was a stones throw away! Swimming off the dock was awesome. The water was beautiful. Had our first ever massages with Shirlene along side the sea. How relaxing can that be?!?!? Julie and the staff were great. Very helpful with any questions or needs. We hope to return!

Room Tip: We had room #1 on the ground floor. Steps from the beach. The room was on the far corner so maybe a...

We spent three nights at Caye Casa and wish it had been more! We were hugely impressed by the standard of accommodation, service and location.

Our room was beautiful. Large, spotlessly clean and with a fantastic view of the ocean. The porch outside our room was the perfect place for watching the sun set, as to the dock and swimming pool.

The service we received was excellent from the moment we arrived. Our taxi ride from the water jet terminal was paid for, our bags were carried upstairs and we were given detailed information on how to organise bike rental and snorkelling.

Caye Casa is located on a quiet stretch of beach about 15 mins walk from beachside bars and restaurants. The centre of San Pedro is also 15 mins walk. It is easy to rent a bike or golf cart. There is a lovely bakery around the corner which is open at 7am and serves incredible cinnamon rolls!

The perfect stay!

Don't miss the opportunity to get a relaxing Caribbean massage at the end of the dock. Shirlene will work the stress and tension out of your muscles as you are surrounded by the beautiful blue sea.... totally amazing and not to be missed!!!

My husband and I stayed here for a week during a dive trip in Belize. We booked the Turtle Caye Classic Room (#6) which is on the second floor. The room itself was pretty simple. There is one small window in the door that faces out the front of the building with an ocean view, and 2 windows on the back wall of the room that face out to a residential backyard (lots of garbage-- not a very nice view). Outside of the room are two chairs facing out in the "common area" where the entrance to the other 2 units are. There is not a private outdoor seating area or balcony with this room. The standard room included a small bathroom with an "open shower." The water would kind of go everywhere, but we didn't really mind. The sink is in the main room area. In the corner is a small refrigerator and a large carboy of drinking water that they will refill upon request. They also have some silverware, glasses, and a bottle/wine opener in the room. Small bars of handmade soap are included, but they will not automatically replace them once their gone (you have to ask). Remember to bring your own shampoo. The other rooms in the hotel look much nicer than our room was, and they appeared to have a kitchen, seating area, and semi-private outdoor balcony or deck.

Pros:
- The location is great! Quieter area just North of town and right on the water. Walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, and a bakery
- The hotel dogs, Reef and Caulker, are a joy! Very sweet, gentle dogs :-)
- In the front area of the hotel they have some maps, books, and games you can use. They also have some extra sun screen (we ran out, so this was a big help)
- Shane at the front desk was very helpful! He gave us some great restaurant advice and even made restaurant reservations for us.
- The hotel is very clean. They sweep the common areas and comb the beach outside several times a day.
- When you arrive to the hotel, they will pay your cab driver for you. They probably typically do when you leave as well, but no one was around when we left the hotel (we paid $8)

Cons:
- There was no ice in our room, and they did not provide any when I asked.
- When we checked out to catch our morning flight at 7:15 am, there really wasn't anyone around to call for us when our taxi wasn't around (we ended up flagging someone down).
- Our sink stopper stopped working towards the end of the trip. I mentioned it to the front desk, but no one fixed it.
- There was no housekeeping service on Sunday.

General tips:
- Charleen does massages right across the street on the beach of the hotel. One of the best massages I have ever has at only $40 USD for a full hour (as of March 2012)!
- We really enjoyed getting a bottle of wine and sitting on the dock right outside of the hotel.
- Casa Pan Dulce bakery around the corner is fantastic for breakfast, affordable, and open early (7:00 am I think).
- The hotel recommends Chuck & Robbie's for scuba and snorkeling-- this was a great recommendation. We loved diving with them daily.
