“Fantastic Time”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Extremely helpful staff. They made recommendations and booked all our excursions with reputable companies at decent prices. We rave about the catamaran and snorkeling trip! The rooms feel like you're in a tropical getaway vs a at typical hotel, with very clean and nice amenities. I would definitely stay here again. We saw pelicans and sting ray from the dock! There is also a walk/bike trail that runs for a few miles right along the beach and in front of the hotel. The hotel is located down a dirt road, a bit of a walk from town, so I would recommend renting a golf cart or using a taxi to get there.

Overall a fantastic stay and would recommend it to anyone!

My wife and I spent six nights at White Sands Resort and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The location is very good - although about 2 miles north of town, it is actually very good as I would not recommend staying right in San Pedro proper (too congested and noisy), yet it was close enough to easily go in for dinner or any other time - either by bike (about 20 minutes easy ride along the beach), golf cart (also about 15-20 minutes going very slow on the pot holed road) or water taxi from the WSC dock. Brand new property managers (Heather and Kevin) are great hosts, exceedingly nice and very helpful. Office staff Heather and Debbie worked hard for us every day making phone calls on our behalf for tours, cart rentals and plane reservations.
The property itself is a great value for the area - we stayed in the "treehouse" (also known as unit L1), which was quite large 1 bedroom, freshly painted and very comfortable. WSC is a smaller resort/condo property, very well maintained with a beautiful pool and ample deck area with chaise lounges and hammocks, plenty of tropical shade, and a nice bar/grill that is open till 7:00pm. A short walk on along the beach to a couple other nice spots include Aji (beautiful tapas style restaurant outdoors), Ak'bol (great breakfast), Lazy Croc (excellent BBQ!), and the Palapa Bar (not to be missed. The ultimate casual hangout for drinks and bar food. Where else can you hang out in the water in an inner tube and have beers lowered to you in a bucket??)
I would stay at WSC again and recommend to travelers without hesitation. This is not a super high end, upscale resort experience, but suited us perfectly!

If you stay in Ambergris, choose White Sands Cove!! My fiance and I recently stayed at White Sands Cove and we absolutely loved it!! The property is extremely beautiful, well managed and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and very accommodating!! Ward was especially friendly, always being ready to assist us with getting bikes, Kayaks, recommendations for places to see and places to eat. The property also has two extremely cute dogs, Chico and Chica, whom you may accidentally befriend if you feed them on your first day here. I doubt you'll be able to resist feeding them though. For those of you who may not like dogs, these dogs are really adorable, extremely well behaved, are extremely quiet and rarely bark and are in no way at all annoying or menacing. One thing to note is that, like the majority of the shoreline in Ambergris, the water close to shore is full of sea grass, so it's not the most comfortable place to swim. However, you can take a Kayak easily out to the reef which is ~10 minutes from the shore and swim or snorkel in some of the clearest and most beautiful water you will ever see (I really loved being able to snorkel out there). Again, if you stay in Ambergris, choose White Sands Cove!!

White Sands Cove Resort, Amergris Caye, Belize, May 09 to May May 15, 2014

since our Resort did NOT provide a Food / Beverage outlet, we used during our stay the " White Sands Cove Resort " located right next to our Resort. The Resort is in a tropical setting with a pool, and a view out to the Caribbean Sea. "Chef Migella" a very good cook, prepared for us several times a fresh grilled Grouper dish with rice, beans and veggies. Let me tell you it was really very tasty, she must have secret spices to make the dish so deliciously tasting. We can highly recommend eating there , enjoy the food and view…. now look at some pictures from our experience…..

We had seven lovely days and nights in Belize to share with our 30 year old son. It was the first vacation he had taken in years, after working so hard to finish paying off his house at such a young age. The accomodations, staff, and services were exactly what we desired and needed. We felt pampered and at home. The dogs, Chica and Chico adopted us as their masters while we were there, which made us not miss our own goldens, Maggie and Moby, so much. We enjoyed just sitting in the recliners looking out at the sunrise in the morning right before biking or kayaking. It was nice to do all of our own cooking to save expenses. Since we are building our own home here a little further north, the groundskeeper and gardner gave us some plantings to start us off with some beautiful trees. Everyone was very helpful and polite to us. We definitly will visit again. The Kendles, from Indiana

We stayed first week of May, 2014, and had a fantastic time, highly recommend staying here. It is well maintained, staff was extremely helpful (Jenna, Deb and Josh), right on the water and easy to get to the reef by kayak which they have for free. We had a nice 1bdrm right looking out to the water (3B) with a kitchen that we didn't utilize, but should have. Pool was clean right next to small bar/restaurant and great place to read and sit in the sun and meet your fellow vacationers. Food was excellent, but a bit limited, both in time (open 11:30-7) and menu, but what they have is excellent.
Now for more about the area. Fly in, very easy form Belize City, but if you have a kitchen unit, stop at market by the roundabout and get stuff to breakfast/lunch/snacks and liquor/beer/pop. Next time we come we may bring some food with use (frozen steaks, chicken, sandwich meat, condiments).
Several good restaurants within walking distance, check out Aji, Lazy Croc, Palapas (on pier over the water) and Capricorn, but all are mostly for tourists so a bit pricey, but vey good.
You can take a water taxi into town and get much cheaper meals, bit also several good places in town, Estelle's and Elvi's among them. Taxi runs every 2 hours, $5 per person so pretty easy. You can bike in on the free bikes that White Sands provides, but if you are not used to biking, the 3 miles in the sun mostly over the beach with packed sand is harder than you would think.
Must do is a snorkel trip, we went with "Searious" with James as our guide and he was great, informed us about the fish, enticed an eel out in the open and feed nurse shark so we could feel the skin. Trip also went to Caye Caulker which I recommend, get a real sense of a true Caribbean village before tourists get there.
Because we have other places on our bucket list, we typically don't plan on go back to the same place twice, but we already decided Belize and White Sand is an exception. We will be back.

When visiting Ambergris Caye I stay right next door to White Sands. I have always enjoyed the little walk-up restaurant/bar adjacent to their lovely pool. Managed 2 meals there- Conch Fritters and Shrimp Curry-- both DEVINE! My only disappointment this trip was that they have drastically shortened their dining hours as well as menu selection. I would have happily had more meals there, but rarely open when I was looking for a meal. I do, however, highly recommend White Sands- a lovely, clean beachside property, and fabulous, friendly staff.

Room Tip: I've never stayed there, only eaten at their little walk-up restaurant/bar, but the grounds, poo...
