We spent a week at X'tan Ha Resort - from Sept. 4-10th, 2013. Even though it is the rainy season, we had wonderful weather and it only rained as we were leaving on the 10th. The resort is literally Heaven on Earth! It is so beautiful and peaceful - perfect beach, nice people who work there and also who stay there as guests. We are so happy that we found this magical place on Tripadvisor!

I would like to address all of my concerns before arriving there - so if you are reading this - you know exactly what to expect - though words are really not adequate enough to describe the beauty and energetic peacefulness. Miriam, who makes the reservations, helped us so the trip to X'tan Ha was easy and seamless. She made reservations for us on Tropic Air out of Belize City to fly into San Pedro. This was a great idea - since it was only a 15 min. flight, and it was fun to see the water and islands from the heavens. Immediately after landing, Enner was there to meet us and transfer us to the dock to for the complimentary water taxi to X'tan Ha.
The boat ride is about 20 mins - and it oriented us to the island as we traveled northbound. There was no waiting around - all very fast and convenient including transfer of our luggage.

As we approached X'tan Ha - it looks like a perfect postcard - exactly as the website portrays.
We were met with a tropical rum drink and our luggage taken directly to our room. Right away you feel like you are with family. The resort is small and isolated and everyone is friendly. The guests that stay there are really nice, calm and quiet. Our upstairs room was facing the pool with a view of the ocean. The balcony is lovely. The living room/kitchen area is a good size for 2 people. The kitchen is stocked with tableware, dishes, pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker, full size refrigerator, small electric cooktop and a 5 gallon water jug of Crystal Water placed on a dispenser. You need not worry about safe drinking/cooking water. It is plentiful - and no extra cost. The bedroom is big with a super comfortable king size bed and a wardrobe. the bathroom is nicely appointed with room for all your cosmetics... The water pressure varies throughout the day. The resort uses well water and filtered (reverse osmosis) sea water to supply the sinks/showers, so depending on the well cycle, the water pressure may be less, then back to full force a few minutes later.

We had Mata Grande grocery deliver food to our room and it was put away for us. This was very convenient. We also brought 15 lbs. of our own food in our suitcase. We did not use the dining facilities at the resort since I cooked in our condo during the whole trip. I noticed that the produce in general, on Ambergris Caye is not so good, so if you get veggies that are wrinkled - from Mata Grande - they are the same in San Pedro's grocery stores. The best quality of vegies to buy are: potatoes, onions, zuchini and bok choy. We brought small packages of condiments that you can pick up at a fast food place - salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, honey, mayonaise... The restaurant management at the resort has changed hands again and I heard that now there is an excellent chef and that the food is good. He is open to make what you would like if you do not see in on the menu - just ask ahead of time. Also there are specials that you are notified about in advance.

The guests that stay at this resort are wonderful. The first morning we went to the beach, and right away we met Rick who asked us if we wanted to go sailing - which we did. It was a lot of fun. The sailboat is an added bonus to all the other fun equipment: sea kayaks, paddleboards, paddle boat... All is free - as well as free life jackets if needed. All the guests share stories about what to do, where to go to eat etc. Thank you to Molly and Tom from Austin who recommended Waruguma, a small Belizean restaurant in San Pedro - no tourists - but great food!!! Thank you Sophie and Samuel from Montreal, Sura and Mike from Calgary for all the great info and sharing of conversations.

We tried all the fun equipment and learned to paddleboard and kayak, as well as jump on the water trampoline. The water is always smooth - no waves - so really easy to learn to do these activities.

The beach is exceptionally clean. The employees rake it twice daily and get rid of all the seaweed that floats in. It is by far, the nicest beach on the island. (We rode bicycles on the beach to Mata Grande which is a 3 mile bike trip each direction- and truly X'tan Ha's beach is the nicest and cleanest.) On the beach there are plenty of lounge chairs with comfortable pads and umbrellas if you just want to relax and read or drink. Since it was low season - many times I was the only one on the beach for hours each day. Really nice and tranquil! I could not believe my good luck!!!

There is a new dive shop, "No Worries" that opened at the resort 2 weeks ago - run by Hill - who is also the bartender. Hill, Mario and Kevin are all nice - you can rent snorkel equipment from them for $5 or plan trips to Mexico Rocks, Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. It is so easy - just ask them and set a time, then go. Mario was our guide - he is knowledgeable and funny. Also they do fishing trips, then cook the catch on beach...
We did the Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley trip which is fantastic and not to be missed.

The manager of the resort is a really nice man, Oliver and he will explain about the resort's history. This is also his home and he truly cares about the place, and about your experiences. The assistant manager. Ludrick is also lovely - as well as the rest of the staff - lots of good talks with Jose.

The swimming pool is clean and big enough to do some laps or lounge. That area is also aesthetically appealing.

Since it was the rainy season - there are more bugs than in the dry season. The resort sprays the grounds twice daily. The sand fleas come out when the wind dies down and they bite by the ankles. Also we got some bites by the "doctor fly" and mosquitoes even though we put on 3 different types of natural bug repellant. When we went off the property - we got bitten more...

We only went in to San Pedro once during our trip. There is a complimentary water taxi that leaves the resort on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:15 pm and returns at 8:30pm. If you want to go to town - there is a water taxi schedule - the price is $8 each direction if you buy your tickets at the resort in advance. Otherwise it is $10 each direction.

If you are a person that loves adventure, but quiet; beauty, nice energy and nice surroundings, you will find the X'tan Ha the perfect vacation resort! It is Heaven on Earth! I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: I think that all the rooms are lovely. Many of the rooms - even in the back have nice views of the...

We are so tempted to use your comments in our marketing campaign as it lends an insight as to what to expect when at our Resort; especially that of seclusion and tranquility.

We thank you for taking the time out to write this and do note that the feeling was also mutual during our conversations while you were here. The management and staff at X’tan Ha truly thank you and we look forward to catering to your needs once again in the near future.

My husband and I spent our 8 day honeymoon (Aug 26 - Sept 3) with X'tan Ha and had a wonderful time! They were still going through some changes due to new management while we were there. I can tell you that all changes they were making will only enhance this location for a great vacation. The resort is about a 15-20 minute water taxi ride from San Pedro. We loved being a little bit away from the hussle and bussle of town. It was easy enough to get to San Pedro if we wanted to, but far enough away to escape the outside world. Our room was beautiful! The pictures can't do the view or accommidations justice. The bed was so comfortable that we slept better there than we do at home! They keep you well supplied with filtered water which was nice. We did order groceries (just snack items) and were happy to have some munchies in our room as well. The kitchenette had everything you would need for cooking. We went on one excursion that wasn't through Hill (right at the resort) because he was just getting his contract figured out. The zip lining/cave tubing was wonderful! It was an experience you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. We went on a fishing trip with Hill's staff and had a blast! They also took us to Shark/Ray Alley where they gave us a tour of the most beautful reefs. Although, you wouldn't even need to leave the resort for great snorkeling if you didn't want to. Mexico Rocks (a large reef) is right in front of the resort and we took the kyaks out there multiple times. Our only complaint was the restaurant. The food seemed more like bar food than resort dinners. As we were leaving they were preparing to change the menu though. It was easy to get to other locations for dinner as well. Overall the food wasn't a big deal though. We met so many great people (staff and guests) that we will keep in touch with for years. Thanks X'tan Ha!

Room Tip: Spend the extra for a beach front view, it was well worth it!

Congrats once again on your honeymoon and we did appreciate you choosing to stay with us on your special occasion.
Since then Hill did get his license sorted out and is in fact running the tour shop from our dock called "No Worries Tours". In addition our restaurant is working diligently on a new and improved menu that will be sure to satisfy even the most particular taste buds.
We are extremely grateful that you got to enjoy our secluded resort and in turn took the time out to educate our potential guests.

My 15 year old son and I stayed here for 10 days and had an amazing time. Everyone there from the desk staff to Oliver to Roberto to Angel to Elder and Hill - all amazing people - each one of them made us feel welcomed and like a part of the family. As far as the location goes, yes - it is secluded, but that is exactly what we were looking for. There are plenty of opportunities to get away for a day to go do something (we did a few tours and went to coco beach for one day) - the fact that it is so far is part of the charm. We met some great people, which it is nearly impossible not to since the resort is small enough to see the same people all the time. It was truly upsetting to leave and we can't wait to go back. When we do, we will definitely stay at X'tan Ha!

Room Tip: As far as the rooms - we stayed in a pool front room - great deal and only a few extra steps to the...

If you're looking for a resort where you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is it. The white sand beaches, crystal blue waters, and amazing food will leave you wanting to reconsider living in Belize. Try the Belizean breakfast, it quickly became my favorite meal. The key lime pie is also the best I've ever eaten! The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home from the minute they bring you a welcome drink on the dock. Our luggage was delayed by the airlines, and they went and picked it up for us from the airport even though it wasn't their fault we didn't have it. Their customer service is amazing. One day I had a special request to eat fish tacos, and they were more than willing to prepare whatever I requested. The condos at the resort are amazing and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've slept in on vacation.

My husband and I just enjoyed a week at X'Tan Ha and my only regret is that I am not still there! X'Tan Ha truly allows you to relax and unwind.

Oliver, Hill, Angel, Della, Chi, Mirium and the rest of the staff could not be more wonderful. The rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The free kayaks, sailboat, paddle boards and trampoline keep you busy and allow you to see Mexico Rocks easily.

The week we stayed, Hill opened the dive shop on property. We went on two excursions with the shop and they were wonderful.

A few things to do before you go:
- Bring bug spray
- Bring sunscreen
- Order groceries, as the resort suggests, if you do not want to eat out every day. The groceries from Mata Grande are reasonable and they deliver.

While you are there:
- Be friendly. The staff and other guests are wonderful.
- Take advantage of the free water taxis twice a week.
- Go on excursions.
- Enjoy the spectacular beauty that is right in front of you.

Thank you for a wonderful week. We can't wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed at X'Tan Ha for 7 days and really truly didn't want to leave. Lucky for our careers a nasty storm came in and shut down the power and the manager Oliver graciously offered to move us to a sister hotel closer to town that still had electricity. We seriously considered staying even without the power but had to take him up on the offer so that we could fly back to civilization showered. We checked out many different places, rode bikes down the beachfront and dined at other resorts and never once second guessed our choice. We did take a couple of excursions to town and to the mainland but chose X'Tan Ha because our ultimate goal was serenicty, relaxation, a lots and lots of swimming and snorkeling and X'Tan Ha was truly the best place for us. This is the only resort that you can swim right out from a beautiful secluded beach. It is also a quick (15 mins max) and easy paddle to some fantastic snorkeling. We headed out to Mexico Rocks in the morning and beat the tourist boats and the whole place completely to ourselves.
The staff were all wonderful and engaging and offered great tips for enjoying their beautiful country - the ones that really stood our were the bartenders Hill and Chee (aka Reynolds), and Jose and Miriam in the office were really helpful.
Our room looked out directly over the beach and was lovely - equipped with theverything you need, super comfy huge bed that I wish I had at home. I'm really to go back now!

Room Tip: The ocean view is definitely worth it but really all of the rooms looked great.

This place is located a half hour boat ride from San Pedro town. The beachfront is absolutely stunning and unspoiled since is away from the masses. Pulling up to the dock, I felt as though we just landed on Fantasy Island. The views are picturesque. The Villas has a country home look and are beautiful as well. The staff greeted us with a free drink of tasty rum punch which set the tone for the rest of the stay, with the most friendly and accommodating staff one can ever hope for. The internet connection was accessible from the room so if you prefer, you can stay connected to the outside world. I totally enjoyed the service I received from the Beachfront Bar as well as the onsite restaurant. The prices we moderate and the service impeccable, I totally enjoyed the daily specials. If you prefer to prepare your own meals, the room has a two burner cook-top stove. Eating out 3 meals a day could be very expensive for a large family (we are a family of 6) so we prepared breakfast and lunch in the rooms. The room was equipped with all the hardware necessities to prepare meals. I would suggest you pick up supplies in town as we did but you can order supplies from town online. We spoke to other vacationers who did their shopping online and they were satisfied with the prices and it was delivered to their room.
I am not the sort of vacationer who like to fill my day with activities . There are several free activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, wind sailing, and others. There is a jet ski on site, not sure what the rates are. I DO NOT have a single complaint except I wish I had stayed a while longer. Management spoke to new additions to come such as an enhanced menu, a new pool and hot tub. I can't wait to see these improvements and are looking forward for my next visit with more friends. Thank you again for the most wonderful vacation.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Garden View Room but in retrospect,I would pay the extra for the Ocean View units...
