We also stayed here after a tour of Belize. This is one of the few places with its own beach area. There are chairs and a hammock by the water, also great for stargazing.
This is away from the main part of town, but a short five minute walk to restaurants and ten minutes to the ferry. It is on a sandy beach so the ground floor rooms are sandy, but they are swept and mopped daily. The frig was handy for beers and juice. There is friendly staff on duty during the day to sell drinks and snacks, but everything is so laidback, nothing else is needed. The ladder on the pier gives access to the water, which is very shallow and seaweedy, but warm. A great location to watch the pelicans fish.
It wasn't spectacular but we would definitely go back. They had no room for us on Easter weekend but we came back everyday to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are easy to access, the top (third) floor has great views but no elevator.

Stayed two nights. The location is ideal.. on the south side near the airstrip, so quieter; has its own patch of sand with hammocks, and a large shady space as well.. but the accommodation was not so good. The rooms, although large, are looking tired and the bathroom needed a refit. On the plus side each room had a fridge (worked) and a microwave ( needed a good clean). Overall the cleanliness could be better. I know CC is very sandy, but I don't expect sand on the floor when I first go in. Also one of our group found unchanged bedsheets when she turned back the bed. The place does not have a bar or restaurant, not really an issue since the supermarkets are close to buy beer, which can be kept cold in the fridge and drunk on your balcony watching the Caribbean...

PROs: The facilities are generally nice and safe. For the price, quite good value. It has a pier to enter water, but it is not really too nice to swim. Wifi works in the rooms. Generally a good option.
CONs: Location is a bit too much south, as you need to walk long distance to town or the 'spit' (which is the nice public beach area). Swimming of the pier is nt so nice.

We had three days at The Anchorage as part of an organised tour of Belize and we really couldn't have chosen better ourselves. In our opinion, one of the best spots on the island - away from what little noise and nightlife there is on Caye Caulker, peaceful and lovely little beach, comfortable rooms with excellent air con if you need it, fridge, microwave to make a cup of tea / coffee, free use of kayaks for an hour - all perfect. A great choice of places to eat breakfast and other meals, so no need for a restaurant on site (didn't quite understand this 'til I got to Caye Caulker and saw how small it was and the lovely casual style to the buildings and restaurants. The beauty of this is you can spend as much - or as little - as you want on food and still have a great time. Another couple in our group were lucky enough to have another week in Belize and had booked a stay at Ambergris Caye. After two days they turned around and came back to Anchorage, as their new place just didn't compare! We had a ground floor room and whilst the higher floors probably have lovely views and more breeze, we found it really convenient to be able to pop in and out easily to our room directly from the beach. Also our room stayed pretty cool, as floors above protected it.

We rode by with our bike and suddenly I was wondering why we didn't book a room here. No loud music, not too many people. Sea view rooms. It really looked amazing. I would stay here next time. Hopefully I will be able to.
