“great place, good value”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

My buddy and i stayed in cabin #6 for five days in 01/12. The beds are comfortable, great locks and good screens on the windows, good water pressure and ample hot water. Very well kept grounds and great dock with hammocks and chairs. The owners were friendly and accommodating but otherwise unobtrusive and respectful. For the value and the locations the cabanas make a great "upper class" backpacker place or a perfect cheap couples spot. The main building with a/c and new construction look beautiful as well for a bit more money. No complaints at all and very pleased with the choice, especially since many of the other hotels on the island appear both more run down and noisier. One word of caution or advice, the location is great for peace and quiet and a short walk during the day but it is still about an 8-10 minute walk to the bars/restaurants

Room Tip: Specify cabana on stilts as opposed to the one ground floor cabana if able. may want to rent a bike...

Just got back from a three week holiday in Caye Caulker, Belieze, my wife and I spent all three weeks at Colindas, and thouroughly enjoyd our time there!! We needed rest and to wind down from our fast paced, stressfull jobs here in Canada, and that's exactly what we got! Colin and Linda are great hosts, there were always ready and willing to help and answer any questions we had, but also were considerate enough to give us the "space" we needed to be left alone. Having a buisness of our own what struck us is friendliness and patience both Colin and Linda had for people, wether it were locals or visitors, no matter how busy they were they always had time for those who came and stopped in ( and there were always people stopping in) they definatly have a reputation on the island for their hospitality!!!
The suite we were in was AMAZING and had everything you would expect in a hotel in Canada or the States, but with a unbeatable view!!! They are located just a short 5 min. walk south of the village, so it is a bit quieter than the places right in the village , but close enough to everything , restaurants, shopping, etc. Having travelled extensively through Mexico and Centeral America, I must say Belieze , and caye caylker in particular is the cleanest and safest place we've been to. We had no safety concerns, and my wife would feel perfectly safe to walk in cay caulker day or night!

Room Tip: The upstairs suites catch the breezes perfectly, and although it has a/c in the bedroom you don'...

Stayed at Colinda's for 6 days..Jan 16th-22nd; superb accommodations with so many pluses..Colin and Linda go out of their way to please everyone; from the backpackers to the honeymooners to the retired baby boomers..last year we stayed at the far end near the split and much preferred Colindas for several reasons..quiet at night; better security as owners were right on sight; private dock; their on-going attention to detail; eg always ensured taxi called; catered to needs....Hats off to Colin and Liinda..come and see us in Placencia at Lydia's.... We arrived in Caye Caulker with nowhere to stay. We walked down towards Colinda Cabanas based on information in a guide book. Colinda Cabanas is actually in the total opposite direction to the main street where all the restaurants and bars are.

Anyway, Colinda Cabanas has about five or six cabanas set on the beach, overlooking the sea so the setting is very beautiful. Colin, the owner who is from Canada is very nice and had just bought these cabanas when we stayed there in February 2011. His intention was to do up all the cabanas so what you read in this review could be quite different to how they are today. Judging by more recent reviews it would appear that renovations have gone well which is good to see.

The cabana itself was simple, with a double and single bed. The bed was comfortable with good sleep quality. The bathroom was fine- the shower however is run off one tank that is for all the cabanas so hot water is very hard to get. I had the misfortune of expecting hot water for a shower but got just cold water! That was one annoyance of staying here as we were told there was hot water.

The cost of the room was BZ$44 per night for a double room with fan and WIFI. We had to pay for two nights together though which was inconvenient and unusual.

The main issue we had with Colinda Cabanas is its location. Although it is set overlooking the sea it is a fifteen minute walk from the main area. At night time there is very little light on the walk back from the town and part of the walk is on the beach. I felt very unsafe walking back at night and that was why we only stayed here for two nights. There was no security on the beach when we stayed here so in relation to safety I would not recommend staying here.

Just what we where looking for! Our first time on Caye Caulker and I am sure it will NOT be our last. Not only where the accomodations perfect, but so where the owners Linda and Colin. They made us feel like we where 'friends', and where always available for tips, questions beer deilvery etc... We had one of the beach front second floor above the office cabanas. We never needed anything that was not available either in the cabana or a 5 minute walk away.

The dock with the palapa and hammocks where paradise. At night we would put our I-pad speakers out and dance on the dock under the stars! In the morning we would wake to have Belizian coffee and watch the sunrise. 2 weeks seemed to fly by.

Room Tip: If there is no breeze, bug spray is a good idea.

We stayed at Colinda's for a week in January 2012, had a great time in Caye Caulker.
The cabanas are very well kept, unlike most other on the island, and there's a real effort from the owners of the place to keep them clean and in great shape. Plus the owners are very friendly and helpful. The only (very small) negative was the low pressure in the shower...
Altogether, we wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else on the island.

Colindas was the perfect choice for us, not only are their beach front cabanas new, they are well built and beautiful! We stayed on the top floor above the office. Not sure where to start, not only were Colin and Linda great owners, they were so very helpful! From stocking my beer, to great advice of places to eat, to just neat people to chat with.

The cabana was well laid out, with AC in the bedroom and a flat screen with direct TV, full kitchen and very comfortable furniture. We had all the creature comforts. The best part of the room was the great deck! With a stunning view of the ocean, we rarely moved. The area that Colindas is located is a short walk to the main road in Caye Caulker, and very quiet. I loved riding my bike all over the island, the people were all great and I never felt uncomfortable.

Colindas dock and palapa is another highlite as well, the hammocks were heaven! I just cannot say enough about how pleased we were with everything about the resort, bravo Colin and Linda!!

Room Tip: They have 3 beach front cabanas that is what we stayed in, they are great! I heard from other guests...
