This is a great place to relax if you can do without that white sandy beach.
No cars makes the island slow and peaceful, there is plently of snorkelling and diving to be had with a fair chance of seeing turtles, nurse sharks and even manatee on the all day snorkelling trips.
Plently of restaurants a few bars and shops mean you have all you need.
People generally head to the split to swim if their hotel doesn't have a jetty of it own.
Other activities of the island include kayaking and stand up paddle boarding SUP. It is also possible to book flights out over the blue hole if you have the cash to flash.

What a great Caribbean town! Their slogan is 'go slow' and the lack of motor fehicles just makes everything more calm. Pricier than other Central American places but still lovely. Lots of shops, lots of dive school, fun bars...just awesome.

We went on two of Anwar snorkel tours. First Day we went to the barrier reef just about a half hour off Caye Calker. There were three snorkel sites we went to. The water was crystal clear and the fish were amazing. The reef was close to the surface so its fine for even the novice swimmer. We were provided with life vests, snorkel gear and fins. When we stopped at each site we were informed by the captain what we might see and where to swim for best viewing. We also stopped at shark alley where they feed the fish and dozens of reef sharks and sting rays come around the boat. A few of us were in the water with them, even my 12 year old daughter. They were very safe and you can stay in the boat if you like. On the way back to the peer they served a nice platter of fresh fruit and you could bring cocktails with you if you like. Beautiful half day on the water was just the rite time.
Second day we went a little farther south where Inside the reef opened up to the ocean. This is where the manatees roam. It was much deeper and our guide swam with us. We stayed in a group not to scare the manatees and then one appeared in the distance. We swam closer and closer until we were about 8 feet away. What a sight to see them in the wild. If you go to Caye Calker the snorkeling is a must and Rico at Anwar tours can set you up. Tell them Mark and Tina said hi.
