De Real Macaw was a great place to stay on Caye Caulker. We originally planned to stay for 3 nights and extended to 5......we couldn't leave! Perfect location across from the water in the centre of town, but still peacefully quiet at night. The rooms were clean and well maintained with kitchen facility, and the highlight was the private balcony with the worlds most comfortable hammocks and always a pleasant breeze blowing to alleviate the heat. The perfect spot for your island holiday, we paid US$50 a night

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 4 nights. Hadn't made a reservation and arrived on the island quite late. The owners son was more than happy to open the office and sort a room out for us. The room is above what we where expecting compared to some of the accomodation we had stayed in in Mexico. A double bed and a single bed, air con, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. It is basicly decorated but clean and tidy and in good repair. We stayed in a beachview room for $40 a night +tax. The first night was one of the best nights sleep I have had whilst travelling. Although there was noise on the street outside not a bit of it came into the room and it was dark enough in the room to be able to have a lay in..rare in a lot of places.
The maid did an awesome job and the room was spotless. Due to the independence day celebrations she only came once but we where given the option every day if there was anything we needed and would we like to change our towels for fresh ones. We booked some diving through Da real macaw tours and they went out of their way to inform us when the arrangements where changed by the travel company and even came to enquire if we had a good time on our return. This is not the most luxurious room in the world but it is so peaceful and so relaxing. Spent a whole day on the hammock on the porch. It is close to everything you could need on the island and they where helpful with suggestions about where to go and things to do. I fully intend to return to Caye Caulker and this will definatly be my first stop to stay. Friendly comfortable and perfect location.

Loved the facilities, spacious, clean and the staff are cool. Jeff, looks just like Jean Paul but it much more smooth. I slept on the street front and it was loud. There are plenty of rooms that wheren't though.

My cousin and I stayed here for 10 days. We had initially only planned on staying 4 nights then the rest on San Pedro but loved Caye Caulker so much and this hotel that we stayed all 10 days here! It is the perfect location, right in the middle of the island. The owner and her son Jeff are the most friendly people who will go out of their way to help you. Other reviews state that because of the vendors across the way that its not oceanfront, but the whole island is 3 streets wide so you have the ocean feel at all times! Those vendors across the way have some of the best and cheapest food I have ever eaten! We stayed in the cheapest single room for all but the last two nights then upgraded to a bigger room. All of the rooms had fans(you could pay for AC), hot water, private bathrooms, and a hammock to lay in! I will be back and will without a doubt stay here again.

We stayed at Da Real Macaw for one night during the annual Lobsterfest, and for that it's location can't be beaten - just step out the gate and you're in the middle of the festivities. There was really nothing to complain of apart from the price: staff was nice and friendly, room was clean, had private bath and balcony and even a fridge, but it really wasn't worth the $50 US we paid.

We moved then back to Blue Wave guest house where we got basically the same room for half the price (low season rates). I'd recommend to take a look at that one instead.
