“Great Place to Stay”

Nice location on Caye Caulker. Close to water taxi, restuarants and shops. Room was clean, nicely decorated and great showers. We had three units but the poolside palapa was a great gathering place. Nice complimentary continental breakfast with fresh fruit every morning. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, arranged early use of bicycles to tour island.

Room Tip: Upstairs unit picked up sea breezes.

Stayed here with 8 of my friends for a week. It is so relaxing, with a very friendly staff. It has a view of the water, and a fresh water pool. Complimentary continental breakfast each morning, and 2-for-one drinks at the bar at night. My room had a refrigerator and cable tv; other rooms have microwave, toaster. Rooms are cleaned every day. Location makes it easy walking to most places on the island, and it it very close to the water taxi dock.

We went on an organised trip through Belize, then booked Seaside Cabanas for a few relaxing days end our stay and we were not disappointed. As part of our trip, we stayed in a different hotel on the island, which was basic at best, so the Seaside Cabanas was utter luxury after that. I stayed in room 14, which is upstairs and overlooks the pool and sea beyond it. The rooms were very clean and the reception staff were really friendly and helpful, organising snorkelling trips for us and helping us with information. The only downside to the stay was that other guests were reserving sun loungers with their towels and then not using them.

Stayed at the Seaside Cabanas for 2 nights. Located right by the ferry to Belize City, easy to find. Rooms were clean and included a refrigerator and satellite television. Bathroom was very nice with a rain shower. Pool was clean. Unfortunately not much of a beach but there is really not any large beaches on the island. Staff was friendly and hooked us up with snorkeling. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but was included and was a nice perk.

Room Tip: If you are looking to lay out in the sun, I suggest getting a room with its own rooftop. Chairs by t...

This was one of four stops for my husband and I on our honeymoon and while we enjoyed our time in Caye Caulker, the hotel itself was average. We were their first guests after being closed for renovations so they staff was a little frazzled when we first go their. The 2-story unit itself was very unique with it's thatch roof and patio seating but it was very difficult to keep the unit cool during this time when it was 80+ degrees out. Also, we got eaten alive by mosquitoes because there was no mosquito net provided. They were so bad that we couldn't sit outside which was kind of a disappointment but not the hotel's fault. There was a hot tub included but it didn't work. Since the mosquitoes were so bad, we didn't worry too much about it but felt it was something they should have checked on before we arrived. The bed sat on a cement block, which didn't make for a very comfortable sleep. On the positive side, fresh fruit and a complimentary bottle of champagne for our honeymoon was provided, which was a nice touch.

I think the thing that stood out the most was that the staff wasn't very friendly. It rained one of the days we were there and our excursions for the day were cancelled. We were looking for them to help us either re-schedule or suggest other activities and they didn't provide either. I was making conversation with the bartender while it was raining and asked what they do when it rains all day considering the entire island can be walked in an hour, and she just shrugged and walked away. Also, one of the restaurants was supposed to have dinner served at our hotel room and the front desk completely botched it up, so we just went to the restaurant. Not a huge deal, as we wanted to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant but the staff was completely unapologetic for messing up our plans.

All in all, we were only there 2 nights before going on to our next destination but probably isn't a place we would rush back to. I'm hoping the staff was just getting back into the swing of things and that is why they weren't as friendly/helpful.

This is our go-to place on Caye Caulker. We usually rent either rooms 1-4 or the big 2-storey suite, #18. Worth the extra cost for us for the options these rooms provide: #18 has a full kitchen complete with 2-burner ceramic top, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, toaster oven, full-size fresh water dispenser, coffee maker and dishes/pots/pans/glasses/bakeware. #18 also can accommodate an extra person on a cot if need be. The bedroom is on the upper level and absolutely divine! So when you stay in #18 you can really relax on a longer stay, knowing that you can make your own snacks at midnight, or have a leisurely breakfast on one of the two outside decks, which is nice because sometimes waiting an hour for every single meal at a restaurant gets tedious! There is a very small outdoor jacuzzi with this unit, but it also has an outdoor sleeping area, if you want to doze under the stars (which we do when there, again, fabulous experience!). The other units, #1-4, are very nice ground-level rooms with partial kitchens - fridge, toaster, coffee maker and a few cups/glasses. The lines are lovely, nice fluffy towels and crisp white sheets and neutral decor. The nice feature of these rooms is the private upper deck with a covered hammock and larger jacuzzi, with beautiful private views of the sea. Again, wonderful to relax in at the end of the day, under the stars with palm trees swaying in the sea breeze. The hotel pool is small but lovely with lots of chaises for lounging and lovely gardens surrounding the pool area. The location is directly on the seaside, with gorgeous views of the water. It is only a short distance from the water taxi area, and if you fly to the island, the hotel will arrange a taxi to be there for you, at a cost of about $15 BZ ($7.50 U.S.). Breakfast is included and is simple but satisfying - fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh danish-type buns, dry cereals, coffee, tea. Beds are comfortable although lean toward being more firm. Showers are large with great water pressure. Air conditioning works well as does free WiFi. Drinks from the bar are fabulous! Everything is immaculate and clean although once in a while you may find something has not been repaired, only because the materials needed to do the repairs have not arrived from the mainland yet or the only person on the island that can do the repairs is away for a time. In other words, the owners and the staff work hard to keep the hotel in top-notch condition, but sometimes things are beyond their control. Staff are very friendly and helpful and will arrange any kind of adventure available, but always give them at least a day's notice and be mindful that Saturdays and Sundays are more quiet, so not everything may be open or available. There is a great supermarket just around the corner from the hotel, with everything you may need, even fresh vegetables, fruits and meat, as well as rum, beer, and any other type of liquor you might want. Very good restaurants are only steps away. We love coming here because we feel so comfortable and have fun doing many different things, or absolutely nothing! We feel this hotel offers us the perfect balance between price and features/options available for us. We have travelled here as a couple wanting a romantic getaway, as well as with other couples and with young adults, and have always had a great time. If you are travelling with two groups, try renting #18 and #4, they are side by side yet very private, and you can share resources and have a super stay!

We stayed here sandwiched in between two luxury resorts, which this is clearly not. However, the seaside cabanas is the perfect place to stay on cays caulker. It is relaxed, friendly and clean- really all you need, the location is ideal, right on the water and an easy walk to anywhere you want to go on the island. The pool is small and cute, but one of the only places that I saw on the caye that had one, ideal for people who want a break from walking around and just want to lounge. The staff was helpful and nice, and helped us set up a snorkeling tour. Breakfast is simple but good: yogurt, coffee, fruit and rolls. The island is very charming, unique and fun- happy exploring!

Room Tip: Try to get an ocean view to see gorgeous sunrises.
