My son & I stayed in cabana 5 overlooking the beach & pier...was fantastic. Nice balcony with chairs where we could watch the people come & go, look out over the ocean & enjoy the nice breeze. AC in the room was great since we came in July so it was hot outside. Having the fridge & microwave meant we could keep our leftovers from the wonderful food we found on the island. Location close to the split for easy swimming access (but far enough away so we didn't get all the noise). Room was tidied up every day so we came home to beds made & floors swept. That was nice! Penthouse balcony has chairs & hammocks to relax...plus a 360 degree view of the island that was spectacular!! We'd stay here again for sure.

I arrived to Caye Caulker unsure where to stay or what to expect. I stopped in one place who directed me to try out Costa Maya Cabanas - where they had a beautiful room just above the main office, with a view of the ocean, a futon, queen sized bed, and kitchenette for a reasonable price. It was really perfect for my two nights on the island. Right in the center of things, without being loud, just near the split for a swim in the daytime (and close enough to the bar for drinks at night.) Plus they have a dock and hammocks you can use to relax in the shade. I was a female traveling solo (29 y/o) and felt very safe and comfortable here. I would recommend it to other travelers - solo or couples.

Our 7 nights at Costa Maya were wonderful. The furniture and wood cabinets are beautiful. We stayed in older room with balcony facing pier, sun coming up, and street all made trip perfect. Sitting on porch and watching sun come up over the ocean is amazing.
During Lobsterfest watching people is a blast. Lying in hammocks under Palapa is so relaxing.
New rooms are beautiful! The rooftop patio has 360° views of Caye Caulker. Yes!!! We hope to stay at Costa Maya again!! Soon!

I found this place through Trip Advisor, and so pleased I decided to stay here. Right now I'm sitting on the deck of Room 6 with a view of the ocean and the passing parade of Front Street. It's nothing fancy, but nothing in Caye Caulker is, that's the beauty of the place. Travelling alone, safety and location are everything, Costa Maya has both. You can do a lot or little, and if little is your choice, a hammock on the balcony is a fine way to do it. Do the snorkelling with Tsunami adventures downstairs - manatees, sharks, sting rays and turtles - it was awesome.

Room Tip: I loved Room 6

My husband and I spent eight nights at Costa Maya Cabanas. We were in room 6 - it has to be the best room in the motel! Second story with a very large deck with sun and shade, two hammocks and a clothes line. View from the deck was right onto the water. We did not cook, but you could definitely fix simple meals in the furnished kitchen. The staff was very friendly and the housekeepers were meticulous. Water pressure good for showers. The location, near the split, was perfect - right in town for easy access to everything. We went out snorkeling twice with Tsunami and the trip with Renee and Felix was the best. Be sure to go with Renee as your guide - he is knowledgeable and safety conscious.

Room Tip: Ask for room 6. The deck and the hammocks can not be beat for total relaxation.

we had a great time with our two daughters. unit #5 above the office is so cute! great location/view. free canoes and helpful with activity needs. awesome location, close to the split. folks were very friendly and helpful. arranged for a cart to meet us and drive us back to the port. our stay was too short though so budget 3-4 days on the island.

Room Tip: we loved unit #5. it had a queen and a double sofa perfectly suitable for our two girls 9 and 12. al...

We stayed recently in room #5 and loved our time there. Located in the action of the Split. Caye Chaulker is so layed back and the people are truly genuine and very friendly. The people at the Costa Maya were super freindly and helpful about places to go and things to do. Ya gotta get a hammock and take it out to the end of the dock for some nice breezes

Room Tip: Room #5 is the ticket....best view!!!
