Front door to the place did not close. bathroom was great with hot water and everything worked as advertised. This was the most expensive place we stayed and at $80/night was well worth it. Book far enough in advance to make sure there is availability, especially the weekends.

We stayed on the first floor, well cleaned everyday day by Dora who is friendly and helpful without being over the top. The kitchenette did not have any pans to heat water when we arrived but soon appeared after we asked for some. The free drinking water is a bonus. Beds comfortable and shower room fine, great soft towells, and beach towells supplied.

This is not top of the range but nor is the price, its clean comfortable with a great view and the tv works. wrte by the water taxi so not far to carry/drag luggage. On movie nights you can watch for free the outside screen at the bar next door, this is not a problem at all as ends early, and never any bar noise.

Location of Sailwinds is hard to beat, right, I mean right on the beach ! Close to all the best restaurants and Bars. and the pier for the water taxi is a few yards away. The rooms are roomy and have a more condo feel to them. Fresh water cooler and kitchenette,TV and cute sitting room with great ocean view and constant tropical Breeze. This was our second visit in five years and believe it to still be the best bet on the caye. They recently went to a reverse osmosis water system so the water issues in some of the reviews I believe has been dealt with. Any requests had were taken care of promptly, my wife says "Just Ask " and it seemed to work quite well. Nice people !

We took the two top floor suites with adjoining door which was great for us two couples. The rooms were clean and well equipped with micro-wave, coffee pot, blender, and two burner cook top. They have now hooked up to the new reverse osmosis plant on the island, so the previous complaints about the water were obviously acted on. We too, had a problem with "Movie Night" next door, but when we aked them to turn the volume down, they quickly obliged. They were in the process of installing new A.C.'s in the two lower units, but ours worked great. The breeze was so fresh, we only used them at night, to sleep. Great view from the balcony!

We had a fairly enjoyable trip at the Sailwinds. First the positive: roomy, air conditioned, great central location, nice kitchen area. The food on Caye Caulker was phenominal. The negative: it was nearly impossible to find someone to check us in. We poked all around the island looking for the elusive Diane or one of her workers. I even paid a guy on a bike to go find her. The guesthouse next door, which recently opened, played constant rave music. It began at noon or so and went until the wee hours of the morning. The owners were very friendly and their sandwiches were some of the best I've ever had but the music was incredibly annoying and would prevent me from ever staying next door again.

My wife and I have been to Caye Caulker 3 times now and each time we have stayed at Sailwinds. While the location is perfect, right off the water taxi pier, central to walking to everything, I have to say the quality has suffered a bit where we would possibly stay elsewhere if we ever went back. Dora, who checked us in and cleans the rooms, was very nice and attentive. However, there used to be large chairs on the porch that you could lay back on, those are gone. They took the a/c unit out of the living and now only have one in the bedroom way in the back of the unit which leaves the living area much warmer than the bedroom. In my previous two visits I did not notice the sulfur smell that the last two reviews pointed out but I certainly did this time. Wow! They MUST do something about this. The water pipes must be clogged from it as the water in the bathroom and kitchen sinks spits at you and the shower fixtures are badly coroded from it. At first we had a problem with the hot water, I took a few lukewarm showers, but once I mentioned it to Dora somehow the problem was taken care of. The shower head is like getting hit with a fire hose so beware of that. We also noticed a few cockroaches in the bathroom. Also, they need to put a curtain shade in the bedroom as that window leads to a courtyard which is lit up and we couldn't get complete darkness in our bedroom as a result. On the positive side, the room layout is great, the a/c in the bedroom gets the room real cold if you want, there is a large bottled water cooler (although they didn't replace it and with two days to go we were out, although if we asked I'm sure they would have replaced it), and a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and TV with tons of channels. If they made these little improvements I'd stay there again. OK for $99 a night. There certainly are cheaper places on Caye Caulker but might not have a/c, water cooler, great location, etc.
