Popeye's was a great option on Caye Caulker if you are looking for clean and simple accommodations. The staff were very friendly, and they had a Restaurant on-site for easy access to waterfront tables with morning coffee and breakfast. They were able to accommodate a room with three beds as well. Some rooms had ocean view, but the rooms on the side or back are good too. Great place if looking for hotel which provides good service, clean, and friendly but basic enough that makes you want to go out and explore.

During my stay this month I was just looking for a place to stay as i wanted to travel on. However due to the loss of my luggage I was forced to stay longer and wait. The staff was very helpfull with any information about my luggage and even gave us an upgrade after a few days because there was some maintanence nearby our cabana. After 5 days we decided to move on.
At the end of our vacation we decided to end it here as well because we were so enthousiast about the friendly people working here and trying to make the best of your stay.
Housekeeping is doing a very good job keeping clean and the rooms are oftenly painted and maintained to make sure it all looks new.
Even a change of the matress (because i have backproblems) was no problem. Very flexible and kind.
I would recommend anyone to stay here.
Do not forget to ask any of the staff were to go. They know the best spots (far and closeby).

Room Tip: De cabana was very romantic. However the more expensive room that overlooks the sea is worth its pri...

A 30 second walk from the ferry dock (turn left when you get off), Popeyes is right on the water on the southern end of the main part of 'town'. It's an easy walk to all the main restaurants. We had a water front room on the 3rd floor and stayed 5 nights.

The pros:
- beautiful view
- friendly and helpful staff
- clean, big and basic room with AC (although we didn't use it and were happy with the pedestal fan)
- rustic wharf out the front which was nice to sit on by the water
- close to restaurants but quiet
- close to ferry drop off

The cons
- very basic linens, shower curtains etc
- More of a general comment about Caye Caulker is that there isn't really anywhere to swim off the island and there is no beach. The best place to swim is at 'the split' where people meet to have drinks in the afternoon and swim. Popeyes is at the other end of town from the split (but still only a 10 min walk). We spent most of our time diving so didn't worry us and the split felt a bit bogan anyway (Caye caulker attracts a mixed crowd due to its cheaper price).

Our favourite meals were fresh whole lobster at Rose's, a fancy (and pricey) meal with live music at Habaneros, lunch at bambooze, and our morning coffee from the small coffee place where front st meets the beach (near easy boys tours).

We took the taxi/boat option to get there but if had to do it again would fly as it's not much more and saves a lot of time. It's $20 cab plus ~$10-15 boat ride that with waiting took 2-3hrs (flight is 15 mins and $70).

Room Tip: Worth getting a beach front room but only if you're on level 2 or 3 as lower than that and your...

We just had ANOTHER great stay at Popeye's Beach Resort , the rooms adequate last night had been repainted and air conditioning added ..all for the same price it was a bonus. Can't go on to much about the great staff as there isn't enough room on here :) The rooms pleasant ,spacious and clean ... if your pondering ..THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU ..steps away from night life without the BOOM BOOM BOOM of the other places.

Cris (and the rest of the staff I met) was very friendly, the room was very clean and the location was great. I was in a room overlooking the water on the third floor. Really fabulous view -- sun rose directly out my window. One drawback was that it was very windy (which is fantastic to blow away the bugs) and the wind howled through the gaps in the windows at night. If you're a light sleeper, that might keep you awake. After the low prices I paid for accommodations at other locales around Belize, Caulker was a bit of sticker shock, but it was high season and there was very little availability.

Some reviews had mentioned concerns about securing the room. All the windows and sliding glass door locked, but I could see how some travelers could have been concerned about the breachability of the windows and door. I had to fiddle with the windows before I figured out how to get them to lock, and the sliding glass door is a little discomfiting, but that's because I'm accustomed to sleeping behind solid doors. I had AC, so I closed (and locked) everything at night and turned on the AC. Had there been no AC, I would not have felt comfortable leaving the windows open and it might have gotten a bit uncomfortable in the room. But in general, the place did not feel un

Popeyes was chosen for my wife and I while my children chose a well rated known hostel.

From our arrival, Christina and her team were friendly and helpful and when the hostel failed to meet basic standards, Christina came through with an room option and the right price with no fuss.

Popeyes reflects the friendly laid back atmosphere that is Caye Caulkner with the bonus of a waterfront location at an affordable rate. Good memories and beautiful people

Room Tip: There are two waterfront rooms on three levels with balconys and the ground floor also hasnice hammo...
