I am very overdue with this review, but still wanted to share my experiences. I travelled to Glover's Atoll March of 2012. I really loved it and still think about my adventures and experiences there often. If you like a resort style all inclusive vacation this is not for you. This is for the independent traveller who likes to take risks, go off the beaten path and explore. You can cut costs by camping and bring your own food or a bit more comfort by staying in a hut over the water and pay for all of your meals. If you stay frugal, make sure you at least buy some fresh fish that they catch daily for dinner to cook over the fire. I stayed in #4 Turtle hut and yes there was wind, but you're staying in a hut over the ocean so......put a blanket on. Every morning you can literally roll out of bed and peak over the side of your hut and look for Southern Stingrays. Lots of sea urchins around the shallow area of the huts, so be careful. Snorkeling at 7am in the morning just to the left of the main dock a ways out you'll find an aquarium of fish. I found myself surrounded in a school of Jack Fish. A highlight of my trip. Barracuda are around, but just seem to be curious. Another highlight is hanging out at the dock when they clean the fish for dinner. The scraps are thrown into the water just as the sun begins to set. Every evening, Southern Stingrays and Nurse Sharks show up to eat the scraps. It's amazing to see if you're into watching a feeding frenzy like I was. I did a Discover Scuba which Allison instructed and it was a great experience. For our first time, she took us to a very beautiful bright white sand bottom spot. First time is unreal. Coconuts are around to enjoy freely
On our boat ride back to the mainland, there was a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the boat.
If you love to be immersed in the elements with a bit of comfort and love marine life then this is for you. Enjoy!
